oh...so great! this is what i meant inmy "negative" comment on MAttei/samuil pérformance...look these real artists living their roles and dominating them with their voices! those are mere caricature, see the passion hear the unworrieness of their voices! what mattersis the play! the WHOLE thing! its a fact publicity makes big singers than shouldt be,, if onl in russian, this is the perfect Onegin finale!!
'Day' is her birth name, 'Bouleyn' her stage name. Don't know that she disappeared. Has worked steadily throughout her career, mostly in the USA, but having also appeared in several countries, including Israel (Cavalleria). Briefly sidelined by thyroid problems and flu.
Yes, I spoke to Kathryn this week. She uses 'DAY' both as her birth name, and as her stage name now. I hadn't realized that she has used 'Day' as her stage name for years (even tho she is my sister - LOL !!)
Thanks for posting! Saw this production in Ottawa 25 years ago. It sure brings back memories. Thomas Allen's Onegin was so cold and unsympathetic; but Kathryn Bouleyn was a perfect foil. She disappeared, only to later reappear as the mezzo Kathryn Day! This production was also had Lois Marshall's only stage role, as the nurse Filippevna - she was just wonderful too. I also thought the Lenski (David Rendall) was great. Please post more if you have it... thanks in advance!

I heard Kathryn sing in 1972 as a young music student.
She was singing at the Marlboro Festival in such company as Pablo Casals and Rudolf Serkin. She was one
of the protege's and students of the great Wagenerian
Soprano Margaret Harshaw>>I remember her singing a fantastic "Hear Ye Israel" from Elijah and A great
Fiordiligi at Curtis in the late seventies> Truly one
of the most beautiful and haunting voices of our time!
