This is an awesome tutorial! I really learn a lot from it! At 5:55, there is a panel pops out "PDF Assiatant: Geometry Control", can you tell me how I get that from Acrobat Pro 9? Many features seem to be different.
Also, I noticed I dont have the same presets available in the Preflight section (version 9, theres no analysis> list all images etc). I made my own for the simple stuff, but I was wondering if there are ready presets to be found somewhere (online?), or what we can do about this otherwise?!?
@greekhop Yes, great point! Adobe added a number of new Preflight Profiles in version 9, and removed some of my favorites. There are two ways you can Preflight images in v.9 just as you could in earlier versions: 1) use the new "List page objects, grouped by type of object" profile which can be found in the "PDF analysis" section, or 2) export the "List all images" profile from an earlier version of Acrobat Pro and import it into v.9. The "List page objects" profile lists vector, too. Cool!
Uhm, when you are checking the bleed you are using prinect PDF Assistant. Its a bit lame, as I thought you would be showing us how to do a preflight check using "preflight tools in Adobe Acrobat Professional". Is there a way to check for the presence of Bleeds in Acrobat, without extra plugins, without having to do a subtraction based on the difference bewteen required print size and the docuement size displayed in Acrobat?
Nice video and great job presenting how to check PDF files and what the main problems are, which is more a postflight.
Please do not forget to preflght your Adobe and Quark files BEFORE making the PDF with tools like Markzware's FlightCheck Professional, which can also package all fonts and images as well in InDesign, Illustrator, XPress, etc!

Thank you for telling me that images should be 300 to 400 ppi in CMYK.
