Singing through the nose gives a nasally sound to your voice, singing through the throat is better then this as it doesn't have that nasally sound yet it still is a "strained" singing voice. You really want to sing from the diaphragm, this will make your throat more relaxed and make those notes come out more easily... this also prevents damage through your throat ^.=.^

When you sing through your nose your directing your voice towards your head/nose and the sound kinda sounds pinched.
