  • @MrHolipsism I didn't care for the film myself. There were no black women in the entire film! And the one pilot falls head over heels for a Italian chick. They could've at least showed one of the pilots calling his wife back home. This was just more Hollyweird propaganda. They still had to slip in that interracial nonsense. I wanted my money back!

  • Hey Holip, I don't understand Saleema's rant about not telling the true story, which has been done before, maybe not on the silver screen but on HBO, i.e. "The Tuskegee Airmen" which aired in 1995, about how the airmen were, harrassed and told they were incompetant, eventually having to prove themselves. Then there was "Ms. Ever's Boys", which aired in 1997, about the syphilis experiments the airmen indured. Sooooo I'm not getting the hostility regading the Red Tails, it's just another movie.

  • My kinda sister.

  • Typical black woman.

  • @blackbolt75 Typical? A Black woman who will only deal with her Black Brothas and screams on Black women who sleep with white men? I wish that were typical, family. I should be so lucky as to be around that type of typical Black woman. The typical BW to me is Toni Braxton. She don't care what color runs up in her.

  • If George Lucas only cared about making a movie with air combat, he could have picked a dozen or so other stories about white pilots, (or just made a Star Wars based one) and made way more money. However, he took a risk by financing a movie with a mostly Black cast/Black director. I agree that we need raw movies, made about the Black experience. However, not supporting this movie, is just going to make those raw movies even harder to get made.

  • @plo617 I agree. I can understand people not feeling the concept of Afrikans fighting to protect the lives of men they couldn't even eat next to or even having a problem with Patriotism to this country, but....ban it? No way. At the end of the day it is just a movie. If we had studios of our own we can show a different side. But to not have one and complain about it is disingenuous. Although, I had absolutely no problem with Saleema's rant because I felt her frustration with us.

  • I don't see, how supporting this movie hurts Black people in any way. We complain when they don't make movies about the Black movies, then we complain when these same movies are being made? Pulling supporting for this movie, does nothing for us. The whole reason this movie took almost three decades to make (besides obvious racism), is that Hollywood feared that, due to it's majority Black cast, it would not make money. What does it say, that our own people won't support this movie.

  • @ht1comics

"you can google it just like i could google the "Tuskegee Airmen", you could even use wikipedia for it, reading is fundamental *winks*" What!? You don't even make sense. We are discussing the basis of the movie. Not who were they, I know my history...I don't get all giddy when I see a black comic character...I want to know what purpsose he serve and not just feel good someoje happen to include something that look similar to me. *wink*

  • Its a damn movies folks and I happened to enjoy it, aside from the obvious promotion of relationships with white womn with black men....it was good. I mean the same old "shucking and jiving" we all too use to is and has gotten tired. I see many will never be truly happy. Oh yeah.....I agree about the holocaust comment. Two words: schiendler's list.

  • See what I mean holip?, you done transcended from most of the people talking on here right now I aint even interested in em and THIS illustrates my decision that we spoke about. Open dialogue with a lot of people is just no longer an option.

  • @bosseswearblack When you throw a rock into a pile of dogs the only one that yelps is the one that got hit.

  • why wait on someone else to make a "slave movie" make it ourselves and why slave movie anyways is that our only contribution to american history slavery. Really ! when there's coonery going people complain when you put black people in positive light you want movies about slavery. And if you want movies and documentaries about slavery dont worry February is coming up and thats all they going to play is those films people need to get up on hidden colors

  • I wanna see how many people here whining about this film red tails are gonna purchase hidden colours, real talk? you put these critics to task & they WILL fold, too many couch critics in the black community & its embarrassingly tedious & pathetic to say the least, I am blatantly supporting this film red tails because I WANT TO just like I got starwars etc & thats because I WANTED TO. I will also ESPECIALLY support what is actually made BY our people as STANDARD & I do not own a pair of jordans

  • This woman and the host are delusional and/or ignorant...

They are trying to make Blacks feel better about ourselves by stating how bad White folks are...

Dev says, "He should have did the Tuskegee Experiment movie."

Saleema says, "Show me exactly what your fore fathers did to my fore fathers."

    ...

We don't want movies made about factual Black American achievements.

If factual movies were made, we would see that Blacks have historically discriminated against each other just as much as Whites.

  • @ancel1961 "If factual movies were made, we would see that Blacks have historically discriminated against each other just as much as Whites."

And just where are you going with that ridiculous point?

  • @TakeNotesINC

Dev & Salleema try to make all of us & all of our ancestors appear to be benevolent victims of White bigotry.

If George Lucas produced a totally factual film about the life of Mary Starke Harper, her role in the Tuskegee Experiment, the discrimination she faced during her career, and those who discriminated against her the most as she tried to help Blacks, many of us would say the film was a lie.

Many Blacks don't want to see the truth.

It's easier on the conscience to be victims

  • @ancel1961 The truth? You mean like they embraced the truth in the movie 300? Like they embraced the truth in the movie HERO? Other groups are more interested in inspiring their people with larger than life characters and stories than providing them with truth, Family.

  • I can guarantee this woman still wouldn't be impressed by a "slave movie". We don't need another "slave movie", if anything we need a film that shows what we were WAY before that.

  • @mbproject21 Typical Hollywood slave movies are watered down a hundred percent of the time; maybe bloody slave revolts with slave owners getting their faces bashed in would do.

  • @mbproject21

I think black directors need to get critics like the woman in this video involved in actual FILM MAKING with them to shut her up. Yeah it was made by george lucas but he got more than enough people to consult with who were black in the making of it to get it as accurate as he felt it needed to be even if tyler perry made it or any black person black people would still cry about it. How different is the frame work of this production from most people here with a JOB?

  • @ht1comics Tyler Perry (cross dressing/ homosexuality/ co-signed movie precious), Oprah Winfrey(feminism, new age religion, cosigned movie precious).

    Still cry about it?

Both individuals are controlled by white men and white corporations you simple fuck.

  • @On3Thought

Tyler perry was an example he is not a man i support but to be honest me having this back and forth with you was solely to illustrate a point I have made in a convo I have had with holip, continue as you were people like you are a stone in the ocean and you will be an old man yelling at a trash can STILL talking about "the man" *yawns*

  • I hate this "tun the other cheek" mentality and fight for America shit. Just another movie about taking "racial" beatings to get crumbs and historical significance in America. All for the sake of paving the way for our children and ourselves to be one day.........integrated in America. Fuck the Red Tails movie and whatever propaganda it spews into the black man and woman's minds. Get excited over a book and do your research Black America!

  • We don't have alot of positive portrayl of Black contribution in American history. No matter how dismal the circumstance was when they got I'm pretty sure if you speak to a Tuskegee airman or a relative they are proud of there persaverance and I think it's disrespectful to forget that

  • As soon as I saw Cuba on FOX doing a segment on Mike Huckabee's show promoting Red Tails, it was a wrap. Ppl act like white folk don't like these historical "feel good" movies? These films wash their conscience of recent &/or current racism by showing how far Amurca has come from the racism "back then". "Feel good" movies in place of actual "justice" & "feel good" interracial ice breakers in place of "honest dialog". Every other white person I see will ask, "Did you see Red Tails?" GTFO of here!

  • why finance a slave movie. damn we were something else before slaves. finance a true Kemetic (egyptian ) movie showing us as kings and queens!!!!!!!

  • @Bellamora72001

KMT was NOT the only or accomplishment that Africans made prior to being enslaved by Europeans; not in the slightest, and most Africans were NEVER kings or queens (less than 1 percent).

Not everything great about Africa has to do with "royalty" or KMT. It's unfortunate at how many Africans follow this mentality.

Just goes to show how little Africans truly know and think of the greatness of the WHOLE of Africa.

  • MY THOUGHTS: SHE HAD A VALID POINT. AND IF YOU WANT TO SEE A BETTER VERSION I SUGGEST THE TUSKEGEE AIRMEN. LOOK IT UP.

  • What the hell is a "force unleash 2"? "What issues are black people being distracted from exactly?" She said in the video, she wanted the raw story....not some pretty fairytale of black heroes saving the day and everything was ok at the end of the day; because that is garbage. It's nothing wrong with feeling good but when it blinds you from real issuses that effect you. I

    t's a problem.

  • @chaosman81

you can google it just like i could google the "Tuskegee Airmen", you could even use wikipedia for it, reading is fundamental *winks*

  • She is also a liar I have spent 7 plus minutes listen to this lady speak about a film that apparently is not important to her, there is TOO MUCH politics involved in making black media first its too black then its too black male and then its too black female and then its not made by the right people and blah blah blah. Once someone suggested that Dwayne Mcduffie was assassinated because he was too good a black comic book writer, too much conspiracy.

  • What issues are black people being distracted from exactly? what are the real issues? when people say things like this I tend to want more details because its becoming a very STOCK response.

  • @ht1comics The movie is interracial and military propaganda nicely "gift wrapped" into one film for black audiences. It's equivalent to a waitress spitting in your Italian cuisine without you knowing it.

  • @On3Thought

nope, THIS is actually nothing to do with interacial dating and more to do with people in the conscious community OBSESSED with that very topic. Most conscious people speaking on this act like the spearhead of black nationalism is always talking about the white man & interacial dating, this obsession makes these very people forget their obligation to their own people like a soldier with a full round of ammo obsessed with close combat on the field but no FOOD supplies for his squad.

  • @On3Thought

to add validity to what I am saying you got more commentary on this film in the same vein as this lady in the video from black people than black people do on their own productions. How are black CONSCIOUS people gonna go ALL OUT on ONE film that they could easily forget and move on from while only giving their own a bit of lip service. Certain people still do not know how to endorse their own creations without a white man giving it a seal of approval, I mean seriously.

  • @ht1comics "always talking about the white man & interacial dating"

LOL House negro comment coming from an alleged black nationalist.

Besides, no ones going "ALL OUT" on anything. It's White Supremacist who going "ALL OUT" on us with Interracial and military propaganda. Millions of people watched this "ONE film," and millions of dollars will made of it.

  • I dont even mind that some people dont wanna watch red tails but a lot of the same people AGAINST it are MAJOR consumers of the very media that this film comes from, They are boycotting red tails to get their cultural buzz on and act like they are on a black tip and then you will see the same people on xbox live playing "force unleashed 2" and completely OVERLOOK black produced media IN THEIR FACE I am a black nationalist AND a comic geek I spot these inconsistencies and its damn right annoying.

  • I think"Glory"is the best war movie involving Black men-although they told the story from a White man's perspective. My favorite part of the movie is when Denzel Washington refused to carry the flag. In the movie his character knew Black people were still going to catch hell even if the North won the war. In "Red Tails" I think they downplayed what they REALLY had to go through. I think the HBO version is better. It was one scene where the airmen had to give up their seat for a German nazis!WTF!

  • People are missing the big picture, they (US) need a morale booster to get more people (Africans) to enlist in the US Military.

They always pump out work movies when wars are about to start or are fresh,

Reference during the War with Nazi Germany (there were more war movies than a little bit).

Truth there are more War Hero movies on the way.

  • She made a lot of great points. But I would rather see "Red Tails" over a Gangster-hood movie or Tyler Perry. When are Black filmmakers other than Spike Lee and Denzel Washington(Antoine Fisher and the Great Debaters) going to step up and make something of quality and tell OUR story. We can sit here and complain, but we're not doing anything about it. If a movie about Nat Turner was released in theatres, how many Black people would support it if a Madea movie came out on the same weekend?

  • @KING7000100: sadly, blacks like to be entertained not educated.

  • Dont hate? WTF? Why would any black person would want to go see films about fighting honorably and to know the truth that, any war "WE" fought in we come back home to be spit on?

  • Don't hate, this film needs to be successful in order to get other storiies about blacks made. Lucas spent his own money to make that movie! If this would have been a Spike Lee joint or even a Perry film, everyone would be hyping it up! How many niggas went to see Miracle at St. Anna? I personally don't think that black people like war films. Blacks make a lot of films, but most are centered around hustling and crime. Black love the Jew Color Purple though!

  • @ReturnoftheBrotha Spike did a movie similar to it. Do you know why you've never heard of it??

  • @SuperPhdiva: Lol! You clearly never heard of it since I mentioned the film and it's name in my first response! Lol! Blacks need to think clearly before getting emotional.

  • We need to make our own movies , that's the only way we are going to be able to tell our story.

  • I would like to see movies about slave revolts, shit do a movie on the haita revolution war. I would to see a movie like that, Peace!

  • Ay i love that sister She kept it 100

  • If it doesn't matter and she isn't impressed, why is she talking about it?

That aside, if this movie was about the Holocaust, rest for sure it would have no problem getting funded.

  • their is movies about the experiment(mrs. evers boys) and about the red tails( tuskegee airmen) both movies came out in the 90's

  • This Is a good Upload.. Everyone that Is "CONCIOUSE".. Seems to know that George Lucas

Is a white racist that is putting his spin of what he think is the truth. That Is The Non-Truth to those that are well aware of thier history. As for myself I was going to do a video about this. And The cntroversy that is holding, On Ignorant Negroe's will spend thier money on a movie That they don't know true BLACK TUSKEGEE AIRMAN HISTORY". For them to even say It told the whole truth about Us.. Yeah Right.
