  • The F during the verse sounds better as the open E hit really hard..

  • @Mources Absolutely, in fact there never was an F hammer-on. It sounds great with the fat edge of the pick almost dragged across the botom three, and the E string plucked outwards off the body, it throws it out of tune and sounds authentic. But definately guys, theres no hammer on!!!

  • *---*

  • is slidden even a word???...lol

  • i cant beilive he didnt slide the 12 it has been said but still

  • @TheRobertHP I'm pretty sure he is...

  • @TheRobertHP I think he might be playing along with the recording.

  • @TheRobertHP he's playing along with the recording. a lot of ppl practice this way to get the timing right- but he is really playing. if you don't believe it look up the tabs yourself.

  • @TheRobertHP he's playing along with the recording. a lot of ppl practice this way to get the timing right- but he is really playing. if you don't believe it look up the tabs yourself.

  • listen to the recording and youll see hes not doing it right

  • when you think abute it this song is more hard and deep than most songs today

  • I don't know if it's the connotation with Charles Manson but to this day that is one of the nastiest and scariest chord progressions ever.

  • wow i love this song, i thinks its better the version from the movie Across The Universe wich is singed dana fuchs

  • Incredible work!

  • tell me your amp settings please

  • gracias hermano muy buen guitarrista

  • I'VE GOT BLISTERS ON MY FINGERS!!!

  • SO HELPFULL!!!!!!!!!!!! THANKS!

  • Thanks, man this was helpful

  • nice

  • this is the only video i found that sounds completely right, but its sorta rushed. I would suggest that for future videos you go a little slower

  • @MySecretagentman Why?

    It's the song in a nutshell (:

    Quick n easy

Only thing missing is the solo but those are 9 times out of 10 very easy with Beatles songs

  • @Joostbeers ihad to watch like five times to get everything he says down.

  • George Harrison is amazing

  • @MontegoJoker14 I agree, but Paul played the lead on this song.

  • you just thrash the E string .. so you get the F note .. you don't play the F note .. THRASH THE E STRING !!

  • @TheEnergyNippleZ it don't work in a strato i guess lol

  • @TheEnergyNippleZ Yeah, what's going on with the F he's throwing in there....it's very off putting and stupid metal-sounding.

  • @faazlh15 .. yeah mate , it's like that on tab so i am told , i don't do tab , but i do play tis in a beatles tribute band . i just thrash the top E string like a child !! hahaha .. it's really it mate .. Lennon clouting the top E .. hehe .. this guy is just showing it tidy for the folks , but if you listen to the track it is a prominent sound in the mix .. clout it guys .. dead hard !! :-)

  • @TheEnergyNippleZ LISTEN TO THIS MAN!!! Just smack the open lower E string. Gives it that dirty sound

  • @sstrunks8000 .. yeah mate . i know . i said earlier . thanks tho bro !!

  • There's a video out there called helter skelter rehearsal or something. it shows paul playing it on an acoustic (and it RULES) and you can see his hand movements

  • Great video.

  • I thought instead of e7 for the verses it was e7 first, like you did it with the low e string on the first fret, but then it changed to e chord in a few parts. Am I doing this wrong or...,.?

  • heyt hat is a good one

  • Thank you sooooo much !

  • I listened to The Beatles: Rock Band for this. I wasn't sure if I deciphered it correctly but man after seeing this I guess I'm almost dead on if not that. Thanks a lot man.

  • @ColonelPatchy1 is it green, green, red, yellow, green?

  • @sturmtigerDMW HA! Nice one. That game works wonders for people who can actually listen and decipher music by ear. Especially for the Beatles since their recordings are so old.

  • I'm no McCartney fan but that's a pretty good guitar riff from a bass player.

  • @qbc176 He was actually a guitarist/pianist from the start, but took up bass when their player quit. If you care to hear more of his guitar work, he plays the solo in Taxman and the first third of the solo in The End, among others.

  • you cannot teach fucking guitar

  • @rigocriaton1 you do it then so we can tell you how much you suck.

  • @rigocriaton1 That's true. It is very hard to fuck a guitar, particularly an electric.

  • thankyou so mutch i learned it quickly

  • You're amazing!!

  • @muskypucker if your such a guitar god y is thr no vids of you up

  • @muskypucker thts lead guitar tht does tht this is rythym guitar

  • you slide from 12th to 3rd at very beginning

  • It may sound f*cked up, but you're all wrong. There's actually supposed to be a hammer-on to the 3rd fret of the G string.

He also missed the slide down, and the intro riff is slightly off. ;-)

  • Oh, and there's also a much easier way to play the chorus riff.

  • it was awesome i had a blast!

  • i performed this song at The Roxy Theatre in hollywood a couple of months ago(:

  • muito bom(very good) agora aprendi.

    now learn.

    abraço

  • This annoys me. There are a few details that he's missed, including the outro after the wierd sliding thing. And what the hell? 1st fret on the E string? He's just beating the strings so hard it sounds almost out of tune.

And yes it's Ringo that says it. They made 8 versions of this song about 5 minutes each, and after the 8th recording Ringo flung his sticks across the studio and yelled.

I mean, who wouldn't after playing this song 8 times straight?

  • Including that rare 13 minute one!

  • Finally someone on here got the F note on the verse

  • it was walrus :D

  • Maybe George said it

  • is this tuned down half a step??

  • Its Ringo

  • this guy goes way to fast!!! I like it better when these guys do day tripper

  • g is my favourite chord the rest hurt my fingers trying to stretch them lol

  • @CraicCocaine You seem to be a very skilled guitarist hahaha

  • I have nightmares about bar chords lol

  • I too had nightmares about bar chords. Still not my friends.

  • I, too, have blisters on my fingers. I don't care if John said it forty years ago!

  • @adamkincaid1234 That's not John who said that, that's Ringo !

  • It was Ringo! for years I too thought it was John!

  • No it was John go to Wikipedia and Search up Helter Skelter and it will say it was John who said it.

  • I still think it sounds like John, but everything,I've ever read,or seen says it's Ringo, cos it was the fith and last take of the night.

  • because wikipedia is a very reliable source (detected the sarcasm yet?)

  • No it was Ringo who said it. John said, "How's that?" Then Ringo said, "I GOT BLISTERS ON MY FINGERS!!!"

  • Actually John made up the saying "I got blisters on my fingers" but Ringo stole it when they played Helter Skelter.

  • ringo shouted i got blisters on my fingers , the one on the helter skelter video is john immitating ringo

  • Yeah, always trust wikipedia

  • Yeah i know

  • if u watched the BBC documentry on bealtes week it shows the live recording in the studion and i can assure u its Ringo...never trust wikipedia

  • I'd rather trust it than every asshole on this video thats denying it

  • you would rather trust wikapedia?

i was pissing around in ICT n edited it to say the shakespear was famouse for his 13 ft cock...evrything on there is written by the public

  • If you write something on there it only appears on your computer not everybody elses.

    BTW, Good one. lol

  • if u publish it n giv it 3 mins it apears on all computers.....because i remeber seeing the teachers face when she told us to look on their for our shakespear project lmao

  • Oh my God that would have been awesome!

  • You do know it's MODERATED right? Try editting Shakespeare's page and see if it lasts more than 5 seconds....

    Also, great vid.

  • i dno how long it lasted,i tihnk after my teacher seen the corections i made on the wall then we were all baneed from the website

  • @bumfli156 ringo starr did

  • do you have any tab??

or write in a comment the cords

  • E7 G A

    thoes are the chords..

  • LONG LIVE THE FAB FOUR

Spanish: GRAN VIVE EL FAN 4 lol

  • larga vida al fan 4

  • You're not hitting it hard enough!

    Haha, nice vid though.

  • your video helped a lot in a few areas but i had a couple questions, at the beginning arent you supposed to hit the 12th fret of the B string then do to 3rd fret open e string really fast (they do something just like this in the rock band beatles song on the game) and it would have been really helpful knowing what strings you were strumming on the notes or if you were just strumming on the whole thing, i had no idea for most of it but some of it was very clear

  • I thought it was supposed to be a E major chord not minor 7 th?

  • He's not playing minor 7th. He's playing a straight E7th, he says so at 1:33.

  • Muchas gracias.

  • 3:41

  • Thanks

  • a metal song by the beatles, awesome. they were avant garde from time to time

  • its really nice best helter skelter on youtube, i like to put a slide from 12 down the neck at the start, makes it sound like like the original beatles one. hell good job though

  • instead of a slide, you can just have an octave pedal ;) you're kinda doing the same, but pedals are always easy to use

  • I never thought so, I knew a kid who was a f-in prodogy and he used meat and potatoes. I dont use any pedals either really.

  • Nice playing - well over my head, I think i will stick to playing this on beatles rockband when it comes out LOL

  • too many diminished chords. it hurts my head.

  • its hard to play--IVE GOT BLISTERS ON MY FINGERS!!

  • 2nd Comment of the day.

  • heavy stuff

  • ok um my cuz is borrowin me guitar but umm im lookin @ this, is it a hard song to play 4 a begginner? i havent tried it yet...

  • Thanks man, that totally helped me out.

Only two things I'd add to it - you hit the low E really hard instead of F E E E , it's ****E***** E E E, but plucking it really hard makes nudges it up a semitone in a dirty kind of way.

And yeah the slide at the very beginning.

  • You forgot the slide from 13-3 and then play the whole thing

  • from the 12-3 !

  • 12-3 :)

  • Thanks Dan great playing, and all you critics please post yours and enlighten all of us.

  • hahah lol that made me shit my pants

  • VERY GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks so much. I pretty much got it in a few minutes

    Thanks again.

  • lol dude got intro right then it ended up wrong he messed it up on 0;26

  • What tuning does he have it in?

  • It's OK, I guess. He should try the F-flat with the 2nd fret. His tuning fork should be in the G-flat major minor and his armbar should be perpendicular to his h-flat. Fuckin idiots.

  • Wrong-Its on the Beatles White Album.

    Look it up...

  • oh dude... seriously you need to look this one up - it was absolutely the Beatles.

It's probably amongst the all time most covered songs - but definitely the Beatles originally.... and probably all before Motley Crue were old enough to spell 'Motley Crew' :)

  • so e7 chord you h1p

  • this isnt how it was origanlly played but it still sounds good

  • I don't think the low-F is fretted. I always thought the low-F was the result of heavy strumming.

  • How are you supposed to create a totally different note through strumming?

  • Easy. You hit the string hard. HARD!!! Just pound that mother. If you hit the low E hard enough, and at the proper angle, the pitch of the string will rise from an E-natural to an F-natural. The F-natural last for about half a beat, then falls to E-natural.

  • to me it sound like they are doing slight bends on the F...i dont kno...open to interpretation.

  • I think this lesson is a little wrong. Like the intro, u first slide off the 12th fret, b string, and hit the high e then start playing. And, u don't hit the F on the verses, u just hit the low e REALLY HARD! It's supposed 2 go up 2 F if u hit the low E string hard enough. Correct me if I'm wrong :)

  • Well I don't know, you probably are supposed to hit the low E really hard, but quite honestly I'm not going to beat the hell out of my Gibson by slamming on the strings when I can just fret the same note without a problem.

  • HAHA! Yeah, u don't wanna kill a Gibson, that's for sure :)

  • Definitely not, man.

  • great! :D

  • thanks, best video that i've found, wondering if you could describe the strumming on the E7, G

  • very very good

    thanks

  • brilliant lesson,thankyou..

  • To show someone how to play music so they can forget their problems is more then words can say... I play a lot country but when I am home now I will Helter Skelter and remember growing up! Thanks for your time and the memories... Jr

  • Ah...you got that F note coming off the G chord! Not even the "tribute" bands pick up on this. That's how I've been playing it for 30 years. Nice job!!
