Larry is a friend of mine, if he wants to spend large amounts of money on replicas that relate to this movie who the fuck are you to judge him on it! A couple of his masks were on show at Paul's table at a convention and Larry is lucky to have em. Maybe you should try and hunt down a more accurate copy than the one I see you have.
@Haines5150 First of all lighten the fuck up, secondly I'm pretty sure we weren't judging anyone...helping produce the extras for the dvd itself it was kind of our job to help find guys like Larry. So before you come on here using profanity please get your facts straight on exactly how this project came to be. I'm a huge fan of Madman and could care less what you think of my replica mask, as everyone who has seen it even in photos or in person love it...INCLUDING MADMAN HIMSELF!
Firstly I orders my Madman on Wednesday and I got it on Thursday from Amazon. I didn't have much trouble getting it here in MD. Secondly what distracts met he most is the ghosting. It's pretty bad and the interlacing I don't understand why it's there. I mean depending on what editing software you have, the de-interlacing option is just a box that you have to check when you're about to export your project out. It doesn't require a whole lot of effort to do that.
I just checked Amazon for you, and there are some moderately priced ones still left from 3rd party sellers, though. Hope that helps.
Reguardless I'm sure they'll be in stock soon, as this item just went up for sell a few days ago (literally) and I'm sure not ALL the discs that were pressed have already sold out; it chouldn't have been that fast. With all due respect this isn't Star Wars or anything. So yeah, try the 3rd parties. Hope that'll do it.
@hkg575ok Thanks man...I just ordered it a few hours ago from one of those 3rd parties you speak of on amazon. Aren't they only releasing 1000 of these?
Yeah, I believe like The Creepy Kentuckian and Uncle Bill spoke of, since Code Red like Shreik Show's division of Media Blasters has always been a much smaller (as in very small) company, I believe this official "Goin' out of Business" final Madman 30th Anniversary disc is like they're last big one. And true to form, I don't believe they'll be pressing more.
Kinda makes ya wonder: By January, ya think it'll be like the now two years old Savage Street 2-disc set? Hmmm
And like many on here, I'm contemplating getting it as I mostly now only watch Blu Rays and occasionally some HD television on my two TV sets. I really am trying VERY hard not to spend anymore personal cash as well as book shelv space for my months on standard def DVDs myself. But alas to each they're own. Personally, since the doc is about a film I don't care too much for, even with UB & CK, and the color is all fucked up, guess I probably won't be getting this one. Don't know.
@hkg575ok I agree on the color of the film, that they changed in this release, which looks like the vhs version in this review.. But to be honest I have the anchor bay release which has a really nice blue hue creepy quality to it which I will keep and watch. I wanted this release for two things..1 to support the film and 2 for the extras that was not on the first dvd release. I hear of a sequel and and 3 d release so hope that is true
Yeah! finally! I have been waiting for this release. I need to get it quick as hell! to bad that they changed the colours around, i like my blue color :(
I am stil sad over the fact that i sold my Anchor Bay edition, damn it, i should have keept it :(
Well now I DO agree that it is a bit expensive for a soon to be obsolete format that is standard def DVD. :) Code Red really should have just had this one for $12 or $15 at the most, as that is quite a lot for a dying format.
Honestly when it comes to old school Slasher entries, this one I saw on ICF isn't even near my favorites, but I like the idea of the good ol' boys from Deadpit getting doc time and new listeners, and the other special features, so I'll weigh it.
@hkg575ok Agree. Shout! Factory is pretty good. I'm wating for SPM myself. As for Code Red, I understand they have trouble with marketing. Shamefully, I get cheap DVD's at Wal-Mart and I'm use to $10 to $15. $22 FOR this Cult classic, it's a bit high and the 'color' change for me bites it for me. I've seen this on IFC many times now, and it's a good film as they say for it's cinematography. I'm interested in WS aspect of it and extra features.But..there's the other version to search for.
Enjoy a thumbs-up for the reply to my two. :) But yeah, the price IS a bit too high now, don't ya'll agree? I'm glad otehrs does. And like you, I've seen it twice before on IFC. And while I enjoyed the Galon Ross surprising (albiet breif) nudity and one kill and Madman Marx's first 'boo/jump scare' apperance, it's honestly not my absolute most "Favorite" old school post-Friday the 13th & almighty Halloween yet pre-self referational Scream Slasher film of all time.
Meh, I just think the good ol' boys on over at Deadpit like this one A LOT more then soe others. Which is all fine & dandy of course; to two each they're own as far as entertainment purposes goes. And yeah, it was surprsingly well shot & lit for a film that was barely like $600, 000 in 1981 money. And also standard def DVDs takes much much ore room then Blu Ray. I mean two are roughly how I remember VHS tapes taking up my media/book shelve space.
Oh yeah, and I also got some of Shout! Factory's lastest Blu Rays: Starscrash, which of course IS very much good, cheesy last '70s Italian made trashy obvious SWs cash-in good fun dispite obvious dubbing. And Rock 'N Roll High School was also one of they're first Blu's I ordered. I would have SO prefered the Slumber Party Massacre Collection to have been Blu, but the new 3-part documentaries attached to them plus having three films in one package, shall be good enough for now.
I know but most of us here shop at places like Amazon and some shop at DeepDiscount. I was just noting the Amazon price. And I know to the egenral public maybe it isn't as much, but many of us prefer High-Definition video for our home theater units from Sears or Best Buy or wherever. I'm sorry but standard definition is annoying to watch for many of us while HD is better. The extras in HD are better, as well.
Anyway to each they're oww. And I get what you were sayin'.
I've already got High Tension pre-ordered on Amazon for the fifth of next month comin' up here in a few days, as well as the Slumber Party Massacre 3-film set in one, which justifies it's cost with three long out of print films from a reliable company of Shout! Factory and I generally enjoy the films. That'll be the last DVD I get for as long as I know. Really, and no offence to you guys reading this, but maybe even Uncle Bill and CK might not make me get this new Madman disc.
Thanks for the review guys. I appreciate the info on the color change in the new dvd. I'll be purchasing the 2001 edition. God bless.
