The REAL story behind the "I hate myself" note was that Dave made a risque on-air comment to guest Terri Garr (not Sandra Bernhart) and immediately felt bad for doing it. He meant to apologize for doing something so cheap, but she took it to mean he was referring to his life, and told others about this. That's how the story spread.

@bWildcat1 Actually that is not true. Leno has stated that much of the movie is accurately and he has praised the actor who potrayed him. It's Letterman who had a problem with it and made fun of the movie everytime he could. IMO that is why Letterman continue to fell in the ratings. Everyone knew they were playing dirty pool to get the best comic job in the world, at least Leno was honest and said it was true!

This is my first time watching this but they need to make a new one now including all the carson/letterman/leno drama and adding in the Jimmy Walker getting the cold shoulder from Leno after Leno got the tonight show and that whole dynamic that went on there and the new Leno NBC Conan fiasco. My God I hope they make another horrible tv movie about it!
