  • Sorry for asking, but isnt this a ukulele? I see only 4 strings... But still awesome job, man! ;)

  • @xyFAILxy It's not a ukulele because it's built on a standard 25.5" Fender scale. Some of the first guitars only had four strings...same with banjos as well. I used four because it puts less stress on the neck and you really only need three strings to make a chord.

  • how much did it cost to make that? Very nice guitar by the way.

  • I found them . Man I watched all of them back to back . That was great. Thank you so much for sharing . You have inspired me to build one myself . I'm starting in it next week. I'm sure I might have a few questions along the way . I play guitar myself , I have a resonator guitar currently , I think I have 1 video up on my channel of a Robert johnson cover of the walking blues . Check it out if you like . I'll be talking to you soon hopefully ! Thanks again

  • @29opie Good luck with your first build. I'll definitely try to help if you have any questions. Thanks for watching!

  • Man !! You WIN , thats it . A hell of a job . I'm stoked about this video and will share if on Facebook . I only seen part 8 and was looking for the 1st 7 videos. Did you take them down ? I would love to see them . Thanks

  • This is great. You did an amazing job! Right now I'm trying to build my first guitar right now but I think I'll try something like this as a practice build. It sounds great!!!!

  • @Dlamminator Thank you very much...good luck with your guitar!

  • Beautiful job... Love that guitar.

I made myself a toilet seat guitar using a nice old Fender Strat neck my mate got me at the bootfair for £2 and called it a "Smelecaster".

Check out my videos of it. Having just watched this vid, you've inspired me again.

Especially with the clever way you've made the resonator.

    Thanks for sharing this

    Cheers

    Gary

  • @SONGSTICKS Thanks for checking it out, Gary. "Smelecaster"...that's pretty funny.

  • @RamblinAround

    Cheers.

I called it that because I used a Telecaster type pickup.

I had planned to fit it with twin humbuckers and call it a "Les Poo" copy :)

but the pickups were too expensive for my pocket.

  • The action on this is really high. Can you touch the fretboard when you play?

  • @thebigman77198 The action is high because it's made for slide play. It plays fine fretted as well.

  • @RamblinAround Oh thanks for replying, great job!

  • Nice

  • thinking outside the cigar box....very nice

  • @epicfail8798 I was thinking about building one that holds a handgun in it.

  • @RamblinAround you should make one that fires when you play a curtain chord or song

  • @epicfail8798 stupid

  • @sparks5285 yes you are

  • Dude, what camera did you use in this video? The definition is incredible!

  • OUT-StANDING, m' man! I ADORE one-off, unique hand-built funky folk-blues-raga instruments, and yours sure DO Shine!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mighty-fine, mighty fine indeed! Great creative use of ordinary-use hardware items. Your CBG is just wonderfully cohesive, artisticly deft and quite charming. Just a perfect tribute to a Delta Blues legend. Thanx SO much for sharing it!

Best Cheers & Fine New Years, from skyedawg @ Oregon-away.

  • @starmanskye Thank you very much, I appreciate all the kind comments. I wish you all the best in the coming year!

  • DUDE you are freaking awesome.

    really nice guitar!!!

  • @vcdreaglink Thank you very much...I appreciate that!

  • @RamblinAround you are very creative and that is an awesome guitar you should build a full size guitar bet it would look even better

  • @ordinaryproductions1 Thanks, I'm going to have many more guitar projects on the way. I just took a break for a little bit.

  • Nice! I love how cigar box guitars are all so unique. I'm online today looking for inspiration as I am starting a cigar box strumstick for my son for Christmas. The box I have chosen is beautiful. I have a great piece of poplar for the neck with some stunning colorful grain patterns. I would like to use a piece of ebony for the fret board. I can't wait to start building!

  • @good4u88us Good luck with your project! Thanks for watching!

  • Is there any reason you made it a four string instead of a six string? Basically what I'm asking is, if I based a six string resonator CBG on your design would it hold up?

  • @ThePacifica92 I made it a four-string because it's intended to be used as a slide guitar mainly. If you go with 6 strings, it would be better if you put a truss rod in the neck...otherwise it could definitely bow over time.

  • @genuinehenrymorgan I was playing through an old Multivox P50....it's a solid state amp from the 80's...nothing special really.

  • @genuinehenrymorgan Thanks, I appreciate that!

  • that.. is.. AWESOME!!!!

  • @meteosaur24 Thanks for checking it out, I appreciate it!

  • nice work, man! love the Robert Johnson art work. i have a gibson robert johnson acoustic guitar, and its great!

  • @TASERX2 Thanks, I appreciate that!

  • 2 cool

  • @mrgoodvibrations Thank you very much!

  • That is the coolest and best sounding cigar box on the planet!

  • @wsouth1988 Thanks, I appreciate that!

  • @RamblinAround

Also, the painting on the inside is just great... I can't play a guitar but I would love to have one just like this for a conversation piece. I think I am going to try to build one for a friend but it will be a much simpler version.

  • @wsouth1988 You really should give it a try. They can be pretty fun to build. You should check out the website, Cigarboxnation, they have a ton of photos and ideas that would probably help you quite a bit.

  • @RamblinAround

Thanks for the tip. I'm gonna get started A.S.A.P.

  • Dude! They look legit, as if they were made by a proper Guitar Company. You should work for like Gibson, or Epiphone or something! This beast is awesome!

  • @TheCGIMaster Thank you very much, I appreciate that!

  • Do you sell these?

  • @stealyourface73 I have sold many of them, but I'm taking a break from that right now. I'll get back to it at some point, I'm just busy with other things at the moment. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!

  • oowwe, i noticed that no one has ever disliked this vid. i wonder if i dislike this, naaaa!! this vid is awesome!!!!

  • @mattuniversiloise Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!

  • did you make this out of mdf board????

  • @pkalldayful The box is pine...the neck an fretboard are red oak. There is a piece of laminated plywood on the inside. It came off the back of a dining room chair.

  • @RamblinAround alright thank you

  • That thing is fucking awesome dude!

  • @jjd705 Thanks man, I appreciate that!

  • Good work man.

  • @VinceKrat Thanks, I appreciate that!

  • Unique is the world!

  • @jvalentif Thanks for taking a look, I appreciate it!

  • Ok i just watched part 5 and im wondering what to do if m not making one with that silver bowl in the middle? :) and a biscuit tin would be thin material? hmm :P

  • @Brentypooz That's the fun part....get the basic idea behind it and then do your own thing. Thanks for watching!

  • Hey thats really good and i love the sound. Ok, i want to make a tin can ukulele for D.T project at school but im confused. Does the neck (bottom of it) do striaght through the body to the other end? I hope that makes sense :D

  • @Brentypooz In most cigar box guitars, the neck goes all the way through. That is the easiest and most structurally sound way to do it. Check out the website, Cigarboxnation, and you can get some ideas for how to do it. They have tons of great photos of builds.

  • woah

  • @Maydabizzette Thanks for taking a look!

  • reminds me of seasick steve :'D

  • @MechanicLION He was definitely and inspiration for me...him and his 3 string trance wonder guitar.

  • Love the sound of the guitar. Is it because of the guitar, or the amplifier? :)

  • @MrLeonBV Maybe a bit of both, but I've played it through a few different amps and I'm really happy with the sound. Thanks for checking it out!

  • omg i want it lol

  • @J1mmyist Thanks for taking a look, I appreciate it!

  • no dislikes??? this must be the opposite of justin bieber baby

  • @XXxxRONNYxxXX Thanks for watching...I appreciate it!

  • @RamblinAround no problem but wow that guitar you made is incredible!!!!!!!!

  • @TheRoflpus Thanks for checking it out, I appreciate it!

  • a work of art!!!

  • @dqami Thank you, I appreciate that!

  • Wow man!! That is really cool. Is the muddy sound from the guitar or was the amp set up that way? The intonation seems to be pretty good, does it have good harmonics? You did a fantastic job on the picture. That is one original instrument to say the least. Great job!! How long did it take you to make? The hinge for the bridge is genius!!

    Take care!

    Red

  • @julieannaClark Thanks for taking a look at it! It really is one of my favorites.

  • Ever willing to sell it?

  • why is there on 4 strings rather than 6?

  • @dustinnator1 I built it mainly for use as a slide guitar and you really only need 3 strings to make a chord. It's just so it'll be a bit different.

  • you have NO idea how awesome that guitar looks! and the sound is beautiful its just amazing :D

  • @deathslice60 Thank you very much, I really appreciate that!
