Religious or not, this is really not creative at all - in fact, the only reason it's gotten any attention whatsoever is that it's "controversial." I could do the same thing with any other random two syllable word and it'd be stupid after the first 2 seconds... just like this is. What it boils down to is that people want to be able to enforce their "rights," they're looking for an argument in which they can always say "hey man, it's my right to listen to this. you have no right to say otherwise."

There's nothing sacriligeous about it, he could have just as easily done it with "Mad World", or "Requiem for a Dream". It's the juxtaposition. Jesus is not hurt by him making a silly song. No foul play here.

I'm taking it up with YOU because you're the one who believes that your religion should be barred from criticism and mockery. It might not be 'nice' to mock someones beliefs but it shouldn't be against the LAW. That sounds like the first step to a radical big-brother-is-watching state to me. You should know every study and observation has always shown prayer has no effect. But okay, you can pray for me and I'll think for you. Not trying to be cold-hearted, just factual. Look into the origins of your religion, really do it. It's all full of roman politics and stories which conflict with each other, written (and often mistranslated) over a long period of time by a number of sketchy sources.

@fools4lyfie The song is not sacred. God is. This is not a statement about what the writer thinks of God, he's taking a dramatic, serious song and making it silly. That's where the humour. There's nothing sacriligeous about it, he could have just as easily done it with "Mad World", or "Requiem for a Dream". It's the juxtaposition. Jesus is not hurt by him making a silly song. No foul play here.
