They probably should have called the movie something else, instead of putting it in the "Halloween" series. Halloween IV: The Return of Michael Myers probably should have been Halloween III.

Originally Carpenter wanted to release a different Halloween themed movie each year, but people wanted to find out what happened after the first one(due to no imagination) so he made 2 and killed Myers(he even said he did). So in the third one he decided to make due on his anthology series, but people for some reason expected Myers. Because of studio pressure to make another mm movie, he left the series.
The best horror films are the ones that play with your mind and bring your worst fears to the surface. Ashame they went back to Michael Meyers after this.

If Carpenter had his way and Halloween became a franchise that explored aspects of the holiday in really scary ways, then it would've been fantastic. The idea behind this movie is brilliant, a wonderful satirical take on the commercialisation of Halloween and how someone could exploit it.

this film does have it's good moments. It had alot of potential, but it is a little flat. I'd give it a 2 out of 4 stars. BTW, the Halloween movies were never supposed to be "all about him". This video kept me up, and not because its scary, but because people were entertained by this movie. I might sound like a pompous ass right now, but no matter what the circumstance its never right to make cartoonish-situations about the death of children, and parent's reactions. Its just not right.
It's so ridiculous that this movie failed like it did. Sure the acting's bad like most horror movies, but the concept of a warlock murdering millions of children on halloween night is a thousand times more horrifying than a cartoonishly strong murderer wearing a doofy mask.

This video kept me up, and not because its scary, but because people were entertained by this movie. I might sound like a pompous ass right now, but no matter what the circumstance its never right to make cartoonish-situations about the death of children, and parent's reactions. Its just not right.

It's so ridiculous that this movie failed like it did. Sure the acting's bad like most horror movies, but the concept of a warlock murdering millions of children on halloween night is a thousand times more horrifying than a cartoonishly strong murderer wearing a doofy mask.

@drakhlion I think the reason why it failed was because it was tied to the Halloween franchise. People expect Michael Myers. If it had been released separately I'm sure it would've been more successful. But I definitely agree with you.

yeah the reason was that cochran was a warlock. u could tell he hated kids also he hated how halloween had become commercilized. still though this movie just didnt scare me. i think was a great idea 2 kill millions of kids in a matter of seconds along with their parents cause the snakes would do exactly what happened in this scene. id rather seen the kids heads explode bugs and snakes dont scare me. hollywood wouldnt dare do a movie about sum1 killing kids now.

i have to say the acting was shit in this but the story was not bad and to me its the scariest out of all the halloweens.
michael myers is scary but have your life taken away in a flash and the terrible pain of have a magic stone have snakes and creepy crawlies come out of your head and im guessing the mask crush's your head
