@DrREEENman123 no way the first nes batman game rocks ass there you dont have to use some fucking bat gun :D but its better than return of the joker maybe
Theres nothing wrong with the genesis flavor of this tune per say. It sounds like it's supposed to, but I have to say I like the NES version a bit better
Revenge of the Joke Music. Figures how much capable sound programming actually matters in the end; the NES version is ten times superior to this, and that's supposed to be coming from a vastly outdated chip when compared to the YM2612.
Its probably because it uses the GEMS sound engine. With the Genesis you have premade music engines that dictate how the sound comes out. GEMS was one made by EA that sounds like trash (Comix Zone is the only exception). Personally I would have liked to hear it done in the CUBE engine which was the one for Ranger X and Crusader of Centy.
I grew up listening to this and it still puts a smile on my face (no pun intended). I loved this game. I even remember some of the levels I think the first three but the rest is a blur. I think the AVGN just ended the Batman part 2 episode early thou. Because I was 2 when I played this game and i got farther than the Nerd. Either way awesome music awesome game.
Actually, it is because of the sound card it uses. If you look at some DOS games, they too have the exact sound as the Mega Drive has, and it is awesome. ^_^
The sound quality does remind me of DOS games. I honestly like the SNES sound card better for some games. The Genesis sound card only works good for a few games(Sonic, to name a few).
@Sarato If you think about it. The sound quality reminds me slightly of Duke Nukem 2 for the PC. DN 2 also has that typical DOS~sound like the Genesis/Mega Drive.
@Sarato Not quite. The Mega Drive uses the Yamaha YM2612 (also known as the OPN2). The Adlib, Sound Blaster and other soundcards generally used the Yamaha YM3812 (also known as the OPL2). Different chips, but a similar sound due to the FM synthesis both chips used. Still, the sounds they make are damn awesome.
It's a good rendition for a Genesis game, but the NES version was better in my opinion. It's a shame that the song was not done better considering the supposedly superior Genesis audio chip. This seems more like a dance track where the NES version gave a much more classic and atmospheric feel.
O_O i just saw my video in the suggestions box! now i know where all those views come from :3

This song would make a nice Batman OVA using footage from the 1989 film, and from the Dark Knight.

This music is better on the NES version. I agree with others. Sounds like I'm listening to a Sonic game.

I loved the X Men games on the Genesis, this music brings back memories(in a Genesis kind of way).

Why does the Genesis have that synthesized sound to it? All the games have the exact quality, that electronic sound to it, or sounds like Sonic.

@DukeNukem2020 It uses FM synthesis (Frequency Modulation Synthesis) Which has a very distinct sound.

@JoelJW Actually it's a pretty crap rendition and I don't think the usual Sunsoft musicians did this. Listen to the original MD Batman and compare.
