I think I would have made some of the characters much older than they are in the anime and kept the rest relatively young. Naru - Mary Elizabeth Winstead Keitaro - Elijah Wood Motoko - Kelly Hu Shinobu - ??? Kaolla - Keisha Castle-Hughes Kitsune - originally I would have liked Brittany Murphy but because she's passed on, I'd settle for Monica Keena Mutsumi - Zooey Deschanel Haruka - Linda Fiorentino Seta - Jeff Goldblum and Charlie Murphy as the voice of Tama... just kidding. ;-P

Emma Watson As Naru would be inspired casting, along with Dakota as Kitsune.

Chole Mortze - aka Hit Girl in "Kick-Ass" - would be the perfect Shinobu.

For Keitaro, it would have to be Christopher Mintz-Plasse or do a casting call for the character.

@JHolmes17 If I could actually do a casting call, I would. And yes, Chloe would make a great addition to the cast (she slipped my mind before). However, with her abilities demonstrated as Hit-Girl, I would probably cast her as Kaolla instead. Christopher would also be great in the cast, but the role of Keitaro would require someone that was reasonably average-looking, and could be seen as a love interest for Naru.
