With the MiniTool partition manager wizard, it is easy for you to delete partition, copy partition , change drive letter and other operations. Some editions are FREEEEE. Any of you who need it can have a try.

MY DRIVE E HAS NO FREE SPACE BUT WHEN I CLICK ON IT IT HAS NO FILES ON IT WHAT CAN I DO I HAVE VISTA AND DRIVE C HAS HARDLY NO SPACE LEFY LIK 31 GB WHAT CAN I DO
my hardrive is super full - i dont know why as i regulary use disk cleanup and have no unecesary files would u recomend i partion my hardrive then format ? if not what should i do?
Your using Windows Vista to format your selected drive, and Vista is installed within your local drive (i.e. C:). Now what formatting does is delete all files within that disk, and leaving you with a clean drive. However, if you were to format your local disk the software (Windows Vista) you used to format your drive would no longer be there since it has been removed.
Hope that made sense and answered your question :)
when i put in my vista disc it loads the windows files and just stays on a screen with a windows back ground. theres no option to reinstall windows. its just a mouse pointer and the vista background. anyone know what going on?
All I have is C drive. I can't shrink the volume because it says the process failed, even though I have 40GB free. Fucking vista sucks balls. The VistaLite CD I made doesn't boot from CD, it boots to a blank CD, and it gives me no option to "format" disk only to install...and I can't install it on the drive I already have it installed on. I just want to format my single 300 GB drive and reinstall windows clean like when I got it from newegg.
i get so far through a download then a dialog appears saying its timed out or it says internet explorer cannot download (whatever i need)exe from cdn.faster-pcnet.....the connection with server was reset...can you help

i have some files i dont want to remove, is there a way were i dont need to remove them, can i keep them in a file where when i format they dont get removed
after clicking on disk management, the only partitions available are (C:), (G:), and this empty partition with no title or information (only available GB) and they are all marked as primary partition; am i borderline retarded, or is it my laptop.

This was a little helpful... but only a little. I need to know how to just erase almost EVERYTHING but the primary items from like the first start-up. Why? Because i only have ONE F----- GIGABYTE left on my hard drive. This video did, however, help me to get to 1.43gb from 700 mb
Great tutorial! Thank you so much for uploading this video! =D
One quick question: does the NTFS formatting system support Linux Ubuntu? I was just wondering if I could run a Linux OS on the newly created partition.
So, if I were to dual boot Vista and Ubuntu using the GRUB method, Ubuntu would recognize the smaller partition I made and install it to that particular partition?
hello.i have a vista XP and i was watching your video..on disk O: i only have #c and #F and cd rom 2..here goes the question. i dont have any allocated space? I dont have any unallocated space that i can use my external hard drive to? do i need to make more partions???
thanks...I have two 80 gig hard drives on my PC...one had nothing stored on it...I recently installed vista, and my computer wasnt recognizing the empty hard drive...thanks again for this tutorial!....saved me alotta headache...
Sorry, that was a bit too much to ask. I am just a bit disheartened about my forum getting no hits.
Anyway go to the Bios Setup, by pressing Delete of F10 on your keyboard. It may very depending on the motherboard of your computer.
Then try and find something called booting, inside that their should be something about which is the highest boot priority. Change primary boot device to CD Drive. See how that goes.
I currently have vista 64 premium installed on my current Hard Drive. I am buying a velociraptor Hard Drive tomorrow - Which will be replacing the old one.
Must i format the old drive and remove vista or can i just install vista from the cd on my new Hard drive?
If you want to format everything then it should be fine. But you can't format C: and if the virus is on C: then you will need to reinstall windows as well as formatting it.
Very nice, thanks for help, i had a problem with second additional hard drive, and it's was invicible in explorer, but with with video I solved my problem, and now it's visible, thanks alote, editor..
i need to delete everything or nearly everything on my pc. i have vista basic. how can i do this? i did a re install of vista and its just taken up my whole c drive nearly.
If it is just one hard drive then you need to bootup your computer on the CD and when the option comes up to format the entire Drive. Say Yes. And it will warn you that you will loose everything. As long as you are ok with that.
Help me i cant open Vista from the CD i inserted Windows Vista Home Premium disk on computer and restart ut it wont regonize it. I always have to go to a Hard Drive and then go to the disk and then i cant format any hard drives.
I love how user "Askpcexperts" totally copied this video from you and just changed the sound.
Brutal on their part. Good vid by you :D
Can you possibly explain why trying to use the "Format" option by right-clicking a drive in the "My Computer" window will always give a "drive is in use" warning when the way you describe doesn't?
Even when trying the other method on a brand new drive, it will still say drive is in use, even though the OS is on another drive. Not sure why it's different.
Thanks for that. It is really annoying that people copy your hard work and claim it as their own. Anyway I contacted them and asked for a link back to my Computer Hardware Explained site:
So we will see what they do.
I have never heard of that problem you listed. Very very interesting. If I find anything I will let you know. All the best. Cheers.
Not necessarily. You only need to re-install Windows if you format your C Drive. If you just format a second hard drive like the video shows than its fine.
ive got windows vista home premium on my inspiron 1520 laptop, and i want to format it because programs arn't working properly and its messing up, do i need a vindows vista home premium cd to format my laptop or will the vista software still be on my laptop after formating it
so this means that if you format a hard D it will delete everything in it right?cause i got a 40 gb driver and theres somethings im not able to delete or the hard drive itself wont let me delete,so i gues this would delete it right?
hey i only have one user on my computer and i am the admin but i think i have a bad virus or some system files have been deleted because i cant install files and i cant remove some. it says contact your system administrator plus i have just brought a new printer and the cd will not load on my laptop can any one help me please?
It is possible to take a virus down with this if it is on another drive other than the main C: Drive. If it is on C: then you will need to format with a CD.
Maybe. If the virus is on your Main C: Drive then you will need to format with a CD. But if it is on a program file on a separate partition then this format will get rid of it.
It is possible to format C: with a floppy disk or a windows CD. The only problem is if you format C: then you wont have an operating system any more so you will need to buy a XP or Vista CD to install. A computer store could maybe help?
I am not too sure. Is your computer really old? Maybe run in safe mode. Or type msconfig in your start bar, when the system configuration opens, press the startup tab and then press disable all. Restart and try formatting again. Hope that helps.
No my Comp isnt Old but i wanna Format C: and it wont let me delete it :s it allwork but i just wanna delete everything in C: btw my comp is Windows Vista Home Premium
It will remove the OS if you format through bootup. You won't be able to format C: from your Operating System. You need to insert your Vista cd and then delete and format C: through there. If you delete and format then it will remove the OS. If you have the OS on another drive say D: or E: or something then you can remove it like this tutorial says. Recovery disks are useful only for installing default programs that came with your computer, they aren't necessary.
Yeah It should remove spyware and viruses. Unless it is a very clever virus. However, it would be rare that the virus is just on that part of the hard drive, if its on your computer it has probably infected everything. Cheers

It is possible to take a virus down with this if it is on another drive other than the main C: Drive. If it is on C: then you will need to format with a CD.

can u take virus down with this formating ?
darkmage809 3 years ago
Maybe. If the virus is on your Main C: Drive then you will need to format with a CD. But if it is on a program file on a separate partition then this format will get rid of it.

i recently got a laptop and it didnt come with the vista disk, so i cant format C: but thats what im trying to do can you help me?

It is possible to format C: with a floppy disk or a windows CD. The only problem is if you format C: then you wont have an operating system any more so you will need to buy a XP or Vista CD to install. A computer store could maybe help?

I am not too sure. Is your computer really old? Maybe run in safe mode. Or type msconfig in your start bar, when the system configuration opens, press the startup tab and then press disable all. Restart and try formatting again. Hope that helps.

if i format C://
with all files on it?
blahblah3475 3 years ago
If you format C: through the bootup like I said below, then you will delete all the files and programs on C.

will it remove the OS(windows vista) and will i need recovery discs?
blahblah3475 3 years ago
It will remove the OS if you format through bootup. You won't be able to format C: from your Operating System. You need to insert your Vista cd and then delete and format C: through there. If you delete and format then it will remove the OS. If you have the OS on another drive say D: or E: or something then you can remove it like this tutorial says. Recovery disks are useful only for installing default programs that came with your computer, they aren't necessary.

Yeah It should remove spyware and viruses. Unless it is a very clever virus. However, it would be rare that the virus is just on that part of the hard drive, if its on your computer it has probably infected everything. Cheers
