@reaceuk86 As explained in the video, the cats are overweight because of the prior owners who were very irresponsible in the care of the lions and tigers. Nice to know that there are no overweight or mean spirited people where you live. ;-)
@reaceuk86 umm and people where you are are not fat? they are fat because of an iresponsable caregiver in the place they were rescued from. besides from my experience someone that picks on anothers faults tend to have those faults themselves and just wont admit it!!
All these cats had their claws and canine teeth pulled except for Joseph who still has his teeth. They were used by a lady as photo props so she did this to make them "less dangerous" although they could do a lot of damage still!
No, they've lived together for a long time and get along fine. The two species would definitely fight if they were introduced to each other and as strangers, just like any species of cat they are all territorial and solitary etc..
wow they are beautiful animals! I love big cats so much mostly lions tigers and of course we can't forget the Ligers that exist in this world! I would love to have a job like what you have. Just to watch them walk and live their daily lives makes me love them even more.
No, he was explaining that as they were losing weight eating our diet we gave them this was helping us to get closer and closer to getting the collars off of them :)
Hey BCR, I'm coming to see you guys in August, and I was just wondering if you guys get to come in contact with the cats? Like train them or something? Thx
Hi, we don't have any contact with our cats, we clean from the outside using scraper poles and can close them down into the other side of their enclosure if we need to do maintenance on their cage. We do something called operant conditioning with our cats however, this isn't training them to do tricks or anything like that. Just what we call positive reinforcement, stick with meat on the end and we use vocal and hand signals for them to do basic behaviors, this helps with vet work, no stress.
These four cats were rescued from a facility that used them as props so people could take photos with them etc... they had their canine/incisor teeth and claws pulled out. They wore collars and chained down in place so they couldn't move their heads.
How could lions get labelled as the king of jungle when clearly they don't live in the jungle? Lions live in the plain. Tigers are the king of jungle.
Lions rule the African plain. Meanwhile, tigers rule the Asian jungles or forests. I heard many animal discovery channels where the commentators often refer elephants as the king of beasts.
Well , You may not know there is a small lion population called Asiatic lion or Indian lion exists in north western Jungle of India. Century ago ,these Asian lion and now extinct persian lion roamed through out savanah, Jungles, rain forest etc. So Its not wrong to say King of the Jungle.
I guess this is another way of looking at it, although there's only about 300 of these lions left in the wild today so maybe we should switch to "king of beasts" ??? :)
they call lions king of the jungle because jungles are where the most wild life is.
the meaning behind it is out of all the animals in the worlds forests, jungles, plains the lion is the most supreme, deadly, and royal.
and lions rule over the savanna where they live... they call lion king over elephant because elephants stay well away from lions whilst lions are generally fearless.
also they're intelligent enough to hunt and live in prides... so yeah... that's why they're king lol.

Chinese are the SOLE cause of cat extinctions. NO OTHER Asian medicine uses animal parts- Indian, Myanmar, Thai, Javanese are all HERBAL. Tiger= sacred ONLY CHINESE EAT CAT Ah-so clever Chinaman say: tiger tail mixed with soap treats skin cancer tiger tail tip ward off evil spirit lah wine + tiger bones= Taiwanese tonic tiger's skin cure fever caused by ghost haiya burnt tiger hair drive away centipedes brain of tiger & with oil rubbed on cure both laziness & acne tiger's penis= aphrodisiac
No the tiger and lion wouldn't live together in the wild, the tiger like all cats except the lion is solitary and would fight with any other tigers it came across in the wild.
It's hard to say, the lion is probably more used to fighting as it is something they would do in the wild when trying to take over a pride, they also have the big thick mane which protects their neck from fatal bites.
Wow,those guys WERE overweight. How come they got that way? Also do you put both the Tigers and Lions in the same enclosure? I heard Tigers often attack Lions.Where is your Rescue at? Keep up the amazing work.

I just watched two videos of big cat exhibits at two different zoos, and they seemed much more upset in their enclosures than your cats do.
It made me sad to see them looking so uncomfortable; of course, it didn't help that a woman kept blowing through the bars onto their fur, and laughing when they hissed.
Why do the cats in zoo exhibits seem so much more unhappy than your cats?
VickiOrMindyB, (Part 2 of the answer) 3. Our exhibits offer the cats places to hide if they choose 'not to be seen'. 4. we have a regular enrichment program. We keep records to make sure that each cat gets something different and fun to do on a regular basis. this might be an ice ball with a treat hidden inside.
Chan0327, now that they are here at Big Cat Rescue they have plenty of room to roam around and get exercise. Each of them now gets a well balanced diet catered to their individual needs. They are starting to shape up. We invite you to subscribe so you won't miss any future updates on their progress. THANK YOU for watching.
Catalinmk, when cats arrive together and seem to prefer one another's company it is better to allow them to remain together. This way they can break up the boredom of captivity for each other.
SoHeiljerusalem, I am saddened to see you feel that way. The suffering that many animals endure just to there can be one liger (that on the outside looks healthy) is simply not worth it. I am saddened to think some people can willfully ignore the suffering of so many to to look upon the one. Sad, Sad, Sad. If you ever want to discuss this issue feel free to message me.
i do not ignore the suffering of these big cats, i love tigers the most they are my passion in life, i am not rich and trying to provide food and shelter for my own two daughters, but if i can help in any way i will even if i give a few dollars a month, pls respond to this message.....true animal advcote here.
Nikko669, hi, thank you for caring about the animals and for posting a comment on our video. Have you thought about adopting one of the cats here at Big Cat Rescue? If you want more info, please message me. Have you been to our main website.
MobiusX, since their arrival here, they have reduced their weight some. Having a well balanced diet taylored to their individual needs and having a lot of space to move around in has certainly helped. As time goes on and they become more active and lose more weight we will post more videos so you can see their progress.
RebelMissouri, THANK YOU for watching our video and caring enough to post your comment. Keep in mind, before you support or donate to 'rescue' facilities that you should check them out. Many back yard breeders propagate themselves as rescues when in fact they are part of the problem of breeding and selling the cats to people ill-equipped to care for them. The whole time they solicit donations from the public they are actually creating more and more cats that end up needing sanctuary.
RebelMissouri, THANK YOU so much watching this video and caring enough to comment. We could not do what we do without wonderful people like you supporting and encouraging us along the way. These animals are so worth the effort. Have you been hit by any of the storms that raged through Missouri? I hope not.
EvansFan4ever, you asked why the collars might be life threatening & here is The Animal Guy's answer: The collars themselves are not necessarily life threatening unless they got snagged on something and choked the cat, but the long term problems could be through the constant irritation of the skin underneath and that the collars could become embedded in the skin and eventually cause serious infection issues which could become life threatening.
lol those are some fat tigers! =D btw I checked out your main site after you told me about it and it was awesome!!! i have the white tiger and lion wallpaper right now! Are the tiger and lion pics of zabu and cameron? Always fun talking with u guys!
CatMan0111, THANK YOU for your comment! We are happy you went to and enjoyed our main website. HURRAY you found the free wallpapers. Yes the African Lion and White Tiger wallpapers are of Cameron and Zabu. Did you find the games, puzzles and eCards, too?
MrSunny29, THANK YOU for your encouraging comments. I have truly enjoyed chatting with you. Please post any time. It is great when conversations get going on the videos! We could not do what we do without great people like you behind us making it possible. Have you subscribed to our channel so you will get out new videos. We will be posting MANY during the summer.
I agree. After watching videos of big cats in the wild, the first thing I noticed was how much fatter these cats are. Hopefully, they continue to slim down.
Ameliabedelia, they should. They have already slimmed down some. As with people they need to lose it slowly and steadily. It would be unhealthy to force a rapid weight loss in them. They are becoming more and more active as well which will certainly help them continue to shape up for better health.
looks nice!!! they must love it @ bcr!!!what does scott mean collars?? like dog collars???why would they be life-threatening?? if they became embeded or something??? (i dont know if i already asked this... my computer cut me off before)
EveansFanForever, I have sent your question on to Scott. He is quite busy working with the care of the cats so it may take a couple days for him to get the email.
EvansFan4ever, here is a quote of your question, QUOTE: looks nice!!! they must love it @ bcr!!!what does scott mean collars?? like dog collars???why would they be life-threatening?? if they became embeded or something??? (i dont know if i already asked this... my computer cut me off before) END QUOTE.
EvansFan4ever, The Animal Guy has sent an answer for your question. The collars themselves are not necessarily life threatening unless they got snagged on something and choked the cat, but the long term problems could be through the constant irritation of the skin underneath and that the collars could become embedded in the skin and eventually cause serious infection issues which could become life threatening.
The cats arrived at Big Cat Rescue with collars on. The staff does not want to sedate the cats to be able to remove the collars and since the collars are not endangering their lives then the collars can stay on for now. I belive that is what Scott is saying.
Cats r FAT. ha ha that would be funny that living with humans they will also need now exercise and dieting to loose weight.
Hav a Ques- Are there Jungles in US? I mean do u guys keep taking care of cats forever or u do release them? Because taking care all the time must be hard work I guess. And releasing is dangerous for cats too may be. So wat do u guys do finally after they r all fit and healthy?
MrSunny29, in the case of the wild bobcats rescued & rehabilitated they were released back in to the wild. Sadly though the lions, tigers, leopards, cougars, caracals, servals etc that were born in captivity are doomed to finish their lives in captivity. We give them a life long home here. They can't go free, but we give them as much space as we can & as much enrichment as we can. We let them live out their lives in peace. They are not made to perform for the public or do silly tricks, either.
JonoMurphy3, the individual bois of the cats can be found on our main website. That will tell you what you want to know. When wild animals come from private ownership situations it is next to impossible to know what their true lineage is.
They look like Bengals tomorrow (the colour of stripes, their size, their 'manes' aren't as pronounced as siberians) could be wrong. Thanks mate keep up good work !
Irreplaceable, the tours range is cost between $15 & $25. However, if you watch the contests on ChatBigCats*com during 2008 we will be giving tour tickets as prizes on some of them.
I think that people who let their domestic cats get so obsese...should be put in jail for animal abuse. I don't understand how people could do this to these animals. I am glad you guys have these wonderful creatures now.
Teresaveg, if you visit ChatBigCats*com (not a chat room) you can post a blog entry, a video or your comment about that subject and maybe people would get the message.
Heimervall, we can't speak for their diet before we got them, however we can assure you that they are currently receiving properly balanced diets designed just for them. They have plenty of room to exercise, too.
Last year, BigCatRescue were rescue of four big cats, Joseph (male lion), Sasha (female lion), Nikita (male tiger) and Simba (female tiger), I love them, they are very beautiful, Nikita (male tiger)is much bigger than Joseph, Sasha, and Simba ,and looks very full, fantastic!
Respected BigCatRescue, Thank you for your answer, thank you for your loving, not you, big cats will not be happy, you are great! When I heard that When Khan (only four months)was rescued ,at that time Khan is so bad but now become as strong, weighing 850 pounds, really surprised! BigCatRescue is too great, the world will be touched by you!
ya that is true..............but since there r no barbary lioness then i think it will b better to cross male barbary lions with normal lioness.........atleast there will b smthing to achieve........i think u people at big cat rescue can do that.....u people r doing great job.....plz do smthing ...barbary lions r such greaT SPECIES of lions
Vibhu1503, I am sorry we just do not do any breeding here. Since there is not a place or a program to release them back into the wild it is not something we can do. It cost so very much each year to feed and care for just one of these animals that breeding more for life in captivity is not something we can do. If a program comes up to save the specie that involves releasing them into a protected habitat in the wild we would likely be interested in that. Sadly we do not know of any program.
Vibhu1503, much of our funding comes from public donations and from guided tour fees as well as from people, like you, sponsoring/adopting individual cats. If you want a link to learn more about sponsoring a cat let me know, I'd be happy to send you a link.
I can't believe that people pull the cats' teeth! Poor Nikita has nothing to keep her tongue in. I hate hearing about such cruelty towards animals. BCR, you are great!
Dear BigCatRescue. I believe your BigCatRescue is the best part of the United States, very comprehensive, big cats are happy, bring in the best blessing!
I am a tiger fans from China, I love your two big cats, one is male tiger named nikita, other is a male tiger named Khan, they are very large, nearly 400 kilograms, are they health now? Thank you.
Respected BigCatRescue, I have a question, I heard that male tiger NIKITA weighing 850 pounds, I would like to know NIKITA and SHERE KHAN who is heavier?
I love this place and I am really proud of the work they are doing. As you can tell by my user id, I am a veterinary medicine major, and I am planning on doing an internship either here or the zoo. Keep up the good work guys!
VeterinaryMajor726, HURRAY FOR YOU! Feel free to contact us any time. THANK YOU for your comment! THANK YOU for caring!! Your actions WILL make a difference in the world!
i read in the web site that the female which was appropiate candidate for revival of the barbary lion is dead n there is no scope....
is this really true.......this is a great loss....wat abt male barbary lion which r in captivity.......if these lions r crossed with a normal lioness wat will happen
There are not very may of them. My personal opinion is that if you are going to save a secies by starting a breeding program then you need to keep the integrity of the bloodlines of the specie AND it should be done only if there is a plan to release them into a wild habitat that is protected and balanced with prey.
Hi, just wanted to let you know, I felt like changing my name from VeterinaryMajor726 to SaveTheBigCats726. Thank you for your comment! I really am looking forward to helping these wonderful creatures. I feel working with animals is an enriching experience. Is this Scott that I'm talking with? GO BCR!!!
Congratulations for choosing veterinary medicine for your career. You're desperately needed. Keep us posted on your experiences, and very best wishes!
Thank you. It took a lot of convincing on my part to really choose that career. I love animals and always have, and I have wanted to be a veterinarian for 18 years (since I was 7). The only thing that was really holding me back was the in depth study of Calculus, Physics, and Chemistry that are involved, but I know I can do it. I know that veterinary medicine is where I'll be most happy. You'll probably find me working within 6 years at BCR as a volunteer vet!
I Really enjoy seeing the big cats and knowing that their's ppl out there that really care as well and can help these big beautiful animals is just great to!
ShadyTigerBabe, THANK YOU for caring, for watching and posting a comment. Saving and caring for these great cats would not be possible without supporters like you. Have you visited our website? You can get FREE games, puzzles, screensavers, desktop wallpapers, ring tones and more more more.
when one being desapear that cause that other being to desapear too. because we depend of each other. in the wild animals fight to survive but at the same time they love each other because their lives are important to each one including humans.
we all have potential to do many things bad or good because our wapon is our brain and that is something very strong and sometimes animals what to tell comon men help me you can do that and they are just desapointed because some people ignore that we need to become together to save our world because is our world and just us can save it with god by our side.
we don't need to be afraid of any creatures because those creatures when they atack they do it because they are afraid of us because they know that humans have a big potential to destroy and build at the same time
god send humans to help and take care of all the nature that is around us and we need to respect that because whatever happen it affect to us too we are a family and just that dog that you have at home have a importance in this world because god put them here for us so let make a roar to help those that need us.
that is what is about because many people have talents no matter if that person is a singer or painter in each profesion is great because we can help in many ways just to send the mesege and make a roar to help each animal to live and at the same time we are helpin to ourselves .
lets help tigers i wish i could be in a fundation to protect tigers , actually and studing to become veterinarian and everything that i need to become a professional so i can help them well.
Caring for them is going to add quite a bit more expense onto our already large expenditures in caring for the cats at Big Cat Rescue. So any and all help is appreciated. Shop our eBay store our Cafe Press Store and our main website gift shop to help us cover the expenses in caring for these great cats. Thank you for caring and watching.

Wow, is the tiger and the two lions in the same place?
catalinmk 3 years ago
Catalinmk, yes they are. They arrived together and seemed to want each other's company so we felt it in their best interest to keep them together.
BigCatRescue 3 years ago
Now that is amazing! ( 5 stars for the video )
catalinmk 3 years ago
Catalinmk, when cats arrive together and seem to prefer one another's company it is better to allow them to remain together. This way they can break up the boredom of captivity for each other.

Wanna a Liger !
soheiljerusalem 3 years ago
SoHeiljerusalem, I am saddened to see you feel that way. The suffering that many animals endure just to there can be one liger (that on the outside looks healthy) is simply not worth it. I am saddened to think some people can willfully ignore the suffering of so many to to look upon the one. Sad, Sad, Sad. If you ever want to discuss this issue feel free to message me.
BigCatRescue 3 years ago
i do not ignore the suffering of these big cats, i love tigers the most they are my passion in life, i am not rich and trying to provide food and shelter for my own two daughters, but if i can help in any way i will even if i give a few dollars a month, pls respond to this message.....true animal advcote here.

Chicanoforvertx, they are one of my favorite, too. Would you like a link to get a free screensaver of lion photos?

this is what happens when you take these types of animals away from the wild, they become fat & lazy & lack the skills to survive in the wild
MobiusX 3 years ago
MobiusX, since their arrival here, they have reduced their weight some. Having a well balanced diet taylored to their individual needs and having a lot of space to move around in has certainly helped. As time goes on and they become more active and lose more weight we will post more videos so you can see their progress.

Bless you people at Big Cat Rescue, and all other animal rescues.
RebelMissouri 3 years ago

I agree. After watching videos of big cats in the wild, the first thing I noticed was how much fatter these cats are. Hopefully, they continue to slim down.
ameliabedelia99 3 years ago
Ameliabedelia, they should. They have already slimmed down some. As with people they need to lose it slowly and steadily. It would be unhealthy to force a rapid weight loss in them. They are becoming more and more active as well which will certainly help them continue to shape up for better health.

oh yah...
EvansFan4ever 3 years ago
EvansFan4ever, The Animal Guy has sent an answer for your question. The collars themselves are not necessarily life threatening unless they got snagged on something and choked the cat, but the long term problems could be through the constant irritation of the skin underneath and that the collars could become embedded in the skin and eventually cause serious infection issues which could become life threatening.
BigCatRescue 3 years ago
The cats arrived at Big Cat Rescue with collars on. The staff does not want to sedate the cats to be able to remove the collars and since the collars are not endangering their lives then the collars can stay on for now. I belive that is what Scott is saying.
BigCatRescue 3 years ago
Cats r FAT. ha ha that would be funny that living with humans they will also need now exercise and dieting to loose weight.
Hav a Ques- Are there Jungles in US? I mean do u guys keep taking care of cats forever or u do release them? Because taking care all the time must be hard work I guess. And releasing is dangerous for cats too may be. So wat do u guys do finally after they r all fit and healthy?
MrSunny29 3 years ago
MrSunny29, in the case of the wild bobcats rescued & rehabilitated they were released back in to the wild. Sadly though the lions, tigers, leopards, cougars, caracals, servals etc that were born in captivity are doomed to finish their lives in captivity. We give them a life long home here. They can't go free, but we give them as much space as we can & as much enrichment as we can. We let them live out their lives in peace. They are not made to perform for the public or do silly tricks, either.

Are those Bengal tigers?
jonomurphy3 3 years ago
JonoMurphy3, the individual bois of the cats can be found on our main website. That will tell you what you want to know. When wild animals come from private ownership situations it is next to impossible to know what their true lineage is.
BigCatRescue 3 years ago
Ah okay :)
They look like Bengals tomorrow (the colour of stripes, their size, their 'manes' aren't as pronounced as siberians) could be wrong. Thanks mate keep up good work !

I think that people who let their domestic cats get so obsese...should be put in jail for animal abuse. I don't understand how people could do this to these animals. I am glad you guys have these wonderful creatures now.

vibhu1503 3 years ago
Vibhu1503, I am sorry we just do not do any breeding here. Since there is not a place or a program to release them back into the wild it is not something we can do. It cost so very much each year to feed and care for just one of these animals that breeding more for life in captivity is not something we can do. If a program comes up to save the specie that involves releasing them into a protected habitat in the wild we would likely be interested in that. Sadly we do not know of any program.
BigCatRescue 3 years ago
ya i can understand it can cost quite a bit....can u plz tell me that from where u all get funds....
but i must say u people r doing great job....
kudos to u n ur team.....

Vibhu1503, much of our funding comes from public donations and from guided tour fees as well as from people, like you, sponsoring/adopting individual cats. If you want a link to learn more about sponsoring a cat let me know, I'd be happy to send you a link.

bibhu1503, yes, Sarabi passed away. Everyone here was heart broken to lose her. She was amazing. We do not have any Barbary males at Big Cat Rescue.
BigCatRescue 3 years ago
male barbary lions r in different zoos around the world.............is this true
if these males r crossed with normal lioness
wat will happen
vibhu1503 3 years ago
There are not very may of them. My personal opinion is that if you are going to save a secies by starting a breeding program then you need to keep the integrity of the bloodlines of the specie AND it should be done only if there is a plan to release them into a wild habitat that is protected and balanced with prey.

Congratulations for choosing veterinary medicine for your career. You're desperately needed. Keep us posted on your experiences, and very best wishes!
SBennett225 3 years ago
You'll probably find me working within 6 years at BCR as a volunteer vet!

when one being desapear that cause that other being to desapear too. because we depend of each other. in the wild animals fight to survive but at the same time they love each other because their lives are important to each one including humans.
caribeansirena 3 years ago
we all have potential to do many things bad or good because our wapon is our brain and that is something very strong and sometimes animals what to tell comon men help me you can do that and they are just desapointed because some people ignore that we need to become together to save our world because is our world and just us can save it with god by our side.
caribeansirena 3 years ago
we don't need to be afraid of any creatures because those creatures when they atack they do it because they are afraid of us because they know that humans have a big potential to destroy and build at the same time
caribeansirena 3 years ago
god send humans to help and take care of all the nature that is around us and we need to respect that because whatever happen it affect to us too we are a family and just that dog that you have at home have a importance in this world because god put them here for us so let make a roar to help those that need us.
caribeansirena 3 years ago
that is what is about because many people have talents no matter if that person is a singer or painter in each profesion is great because we can help in many ways just to send the mesege and make a roar to help each animal to live and at the same time we are helpin to ourselves .
