  • I plan to make this chair in the coming months, but I question the measurements of the material. You state a few times that is 2 feet by 3 feet, but watching the video, it just looks larger than than. Can you clarify the dimensions?

    Thanks-

  • Great idea I'll try it when I get a chance

  • why not just sit on the ground ?

  • @imackay84 You get a cold wet bum. It can get uncomfortable if you are there for any length of time. And my whole attitude to bushcraft is to be comfy in the woods.

  • @seanmulhall iv been out on my bike i live in glasgow it always wet over heer a bit like the rain forest but wet er n i got soking tonight so you have a point iv been bulding my 2nd tree hous cany wate to move in cob fire dry mabe make a few ov these seats out the front

  • Hello again, Ive just finished making the chair material. All sewing done on a machine and reinforced. I used paracord on the top and strong webbing on the botton. The material was from the army surplus store. Its a strong material used as a casualty blanket (gulp), very strong olive drab in colour.

I cant wait to try it out.

  • @TheFlowerchimp

That material sounds great. I only used this material because I was given it for free.

  • Nice video I will be making a few of these. Thanks for posting.

  • simple and efficient...

  • great chair ,,i m making one now ,i seen the video 2 months ago and wanted one ,,i will post it

  • dude what is with the hat it looks unique?

  • Nice hat!Doesn't look like it's 2 hours old out in the sticks. How much $ did it cost to buy or make lol?

  • 19 stone is 266 pounds

  • cut a hole in it and have a jungle pooper...

  • @scott80100

That would be a luxury pooper.

  • This is a favorite pursuit of my family. We got some good tips at rvparkandcampingexpert (.) com

  • @googled doesn't ever get to do anything fun. Must suck.

  • Neat, worth giving a try. Think the bottom straps would be necessary to add stability and prevent the seat area from bunching up on the pole.

I see your hat is evolving. Back in '08 you didn't have anything but a woven leather hat band, by Nov. of '09 you've got 2 teeth and a bunch of feathers, by Sep. 2010 you've added 2 teeth and a half dozen or so pins. You could keep your Ferro stick up there too.

Keep up the great posts, great to watch.

  • cool can sent me email on he some can print in my notes

  • Love it!

  • Thats a really cool idea Sean. You should market that

  • The audio is REALLY low, but you still sound like one of the chimney cleaners with Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins.

You look like a damn pirate too. You have all kinds of feathers coming out your Crocodile Dundee hat, and you have a fox tail coming out your right buttcheek. Also, what is that? A sword, a dagger? Did you just come back from the Renaissance Fair?

Your chair looks pretty uncomfortable too. EconoChallenge's chair looked decent, but yours looks like a timeout chair on a pirate ship.

  • Nice Hat.

  • Thanks for going to tremendous lengths to tell me how to sit in a chair.

  • Thanks! I've been wanting to make something just like this.

  • The bottom loops go ' right way along", is that English for "all the way through"?

  • Sorry. I have made a tube from the material and then using one length of webbing stiched it along the the full length with a loop sticking out at each end.

  • @hoz49 ya

  • Great idea, well done

  • This makes a great chair for the outdoors. However I make my tripod chair with a hammock folded in half. Just as easy to set up and tie with the stick at the bottom. I like the loop idea, I haven't thought of that to keep the tri pod solid and the stick from slipping, I just sharpen the poles to stake to the ground and my weight drives them just far enough and evenly (if I choose the right spot) I suppose I could use a net hammock to replicate the loops and just pass the two poles through it. ty

  • I couldn't quite make out what the material is called ('hyperlast'?). I was also thinking about making a chair like this. My idea was to use two layers, that way you can still use it as a sack/ bag (always handy), mosquitos won't be able to bite through and you could put insulation in it. I am looking for the strongest, water-repellent, lightest material (that can be stuffed small and dries quickly).

  • A second skin is a good idea. I have found in the cold you really feel the wind around you.

  • Cool! I can see that for me this would be very useful on extended camping trips. lightweight and not much to carry on your person.

  • Very nice Sean! 5/5

  • Amazing. Truly Amazing! Hey I wonder what WEZO24522164 thinks of this one?

  • Why him in particular?

  • He expressed some of his feelings about this project under our video. I just wondered if he had an opinion about this version. Love the extra straps. That will help when you set up the chair on good old Canadian Shield!

  • Good stuff Sean

  • Bravo as usual!

  • Thanks for the Vid!

  • Nice Work!

  • That's Awesome!!!

  • Very cool Sean!!!

  • That's fantastic!! What a great chair!

  • Yeah cool just made one a while ago I got the idea from econochallenge and did a response video since the idea wasn't mine!

  • I'll check out his channel.

  • very nice great idea

  • hi sean,

i was talking to chris about your vid, actually you have come up with a really good idea.

excellent take on the famous chair mate.

    good stuff

    mike

  • Good stuff. Try using a tree as part of your tripod. its more stable and then you only need three poles. I made one of these out of a laundry bag. I works great. Mark

  • whats 19 stone?

  • 266 pounds

  • WOW thats a BIG guy

  • I need one 4 feet X 3 Feet what would the shipping be from the UK to Indiana, USA? plus the cost of materials?

  • Do you want me to make one for you? I dont normally make items for other people, but if you do I'll make it and cost it up for you.

  • I was saying how much I liked it by placing an order. I Probably couldn't afford the international shipping. It would probably be more than 10 GBP.

But hey just for giggles why not find out the costs and let me know? I appreciate the offer. By the by the reason I need it bigger is that I'm bigger than your mate. About 20 stone.

  • nice...!

  • Anybody got a Ricola? Sean needs one.

  • Whats a Ricloa?

  • i think he meant Ricola, cough drop.

  • sorry Rikola. It's an herbal cough logenze from Sweden. Works a treat. I thought you had them in the UK too.

  • I had the spelling right the first time Ricola.

  • good vid mate!

I noticed you have grown a tail, is this because you have been called the Silver Fox for so long?

  • Thats my tinder bag. Its the first fox road kill I ever picked up. This bag is made the same as the ones in my video. THis bag is only salt dried and then worked to be soft.

  • Looks cool, it could be your trade mark . I know it's not related but can you tell me your preferred method for storing firewood for a return visit to camp, as nearly every method I've used so far has not worked. Pine forest.

    cheers

  • i think i will do that

    good video

  • Great! I want to put one in my sitting room :)

  • Oops, i meant living room, sorry but was thinking about sitting in this chair ;)
