  • If only I had a time machine..

  • @PacificRunaway Take me with you?

  • They are so much better than the beatles.

  • @97nachotv Gotta agree with you, even though I still want to marry Paul McCartney!

  • Had Mike Love not been the cousin of the three Wilson brothers, I have my doubts that he would have ever been a Beach Boy. In live performances such as this one, Love could not stay on key to save his soul while singing back up harmonies and then there is the whole what a dork he was thing.

    I'm just sayin'

  • @tripleJ1955 Mike Love IS the Beach Boys. His voice is great! Could listen all day. His dancing is making fun of some of the dances that where popular back then. We all thought they were goofy...he proved it. Give him the respect he deserves. Not a dork.

  • They just stood up and played live in one take--very risky but they were professionals even at this young age--they deserved their success. Their striped-shirt era was the best!

  • I think I was trying to say that Brian is (& was) the reason the Beach Boys were so successful, in that he wrote, orchestrated and produced most of their hits. I'm sure in the periods of his illness he went to a very dark place, but this is happily long in the past and he'll be rocking on at the royal festival hall in september.

  • @lorsujan So, he's still among us? I haven't checked lately. Thanks.

  • Without Brian Wilson, there are no Beach Boys.

  • @lorsujan Where did Brian go?

  • Now hear it looks like they're playing their own instruments... even though Blaine & The Wrecking Crew were said to perform on their other hits.

  • Brian's voice shines through like a morning star. As always ; )

  • @x2L4UxREAPER I agree!

  • sitting on the shore at Lahaina harbor, watching my little surfer girl out there. this song really bring back some memories. watching her drive that little '65 Mustang, with her surfboard on th roof, huh...goofundaze with the Beachboys, awesome!!!

  • "Surfer girl"~ I was in the summer of ninth grade and my first love (just a kiss) was a surfer boy from Malibu. I cried to this song~ I really thought that I found my true love! LOL<3 Great memories!

  • 1964! I was 14 years old. Yipes!

  • @debbiedamooseful I'm 14 now, and i think it's amazing how this music can reach so many generations!

  • aaahhhh! Beautiful memories :)

  • Being 60 years old, I'm a huge B/Boys fan. Thanks for posting this! Also, I live in Minneapolis, MN. Our pro basketball team, The Timberwolves has a star player named Kevin Love, nephew of Mike Love! We keep waiting for him to burst out singing Surfin' USA. So far nothing, but he's way popular here.

  • Those must have been the days.

  • @BasementBeginnings They still are.

  • @BasementBeginnings They were.

  • @debbiedamooseful That's more like it.

  • Brian was really tearin' up the bass. He was a great artist in so many different ways. :-D

  • GENIOUS !

  • Realize, that by the time we saw this in Theatres, BW had already quit the road, to be replaced onstage by Glen Campbell & then, Bruce Johnston. Treasure this--BW in person, singing with feeling & heart. What voices they had--music heaven. Wolfsky9

  • The full TAMI show DVD (including this Beach Boys performance) is now available from Shout Factory. Google it.

  • @Gatorrock787 thanks for the info =)

  • Utter bliss.

  • beach boys rocks

  • Simply, honestly--Timeless. The Beach Boys, as they were , Truly, Back In The Day ", Wolfsky9

  • When I saw The TAMI show, friday night, Paramount Theatre in downtown denver, colo., I remember just being stunned at this incredible vocal. I also recall how girls in the audience--the MOVIE audience, were screaming for DW. I was just so blown away by those awesome harmonies, & Brian's voice, but I know I was a monority. Dennis --as he so often did--stole the show, every time he flipped his hair. Those WERE the days!! An innocent, better time. Wolfsky9

  • I was there, when they did this. It was, hands down, THE finest vocal of that entire concert. Period Brian's voice was simply gorgeous. Wolfsky9

  • was just so much fun ....

  • This is from the TAMI (Teen Age Music International) concert in 1964. This is the best rendition of surfin usa live song. This was the Beach Boys in their prime. You usually do not see this footage from the original film because of a dispute between Murry Wilson and the producers of the show. This is a great video! Thanks for posting

  • Hell yea

  • nice to see Brian healthy. dig the Go-Go girls too. tnks for posting.

  • the monkey

    my handiecap favorites song

  • One of the most energized live performances ever there with Surfin' USA, I Get Around from the same gig is done the same way! I mean it just plain rocks! And then they do probably the best ever live version of Surfer Girl too! I love this DVD!

  • @boyders16 what's the dvd name?

  • It's a CD/DVD set called Sights and Sounds of Summer. I had all the songs on the CD already but you can pick it up fairly cheaply in the shops so it's worth it just for the DVD.

  • Awesome!
