  • HOW THE HELL DID JOHN DENVER GET IN THIS CLIP?

  • Why the hell would you go away from this theme?

  • I realli liked this show back in the 80´s and the first intro is, by far, my favorite. Good show, good memories. :)

    Saludos de Inge Ryoga!

  • If you remember....

"Simon and Simon" REALLY took off in a two-parter when they had to square off against Thomas Magnum in Hawaii...and GOT THE BEST OF HIM...with Magnum's Ferrari rolling backwards down a hill (it wasn't damaged)..

The Simons and Magnum realized they were on the same side and teamed up....with Higgins joining the brothers in following the bad guy to some country to get him.

THAT'S WHEN THE SHOW TOOK OFF...GOOD SHOW THOUGH!

  • i like the rock version im more familar with but i can see this growing on me great theme song makers back then.shout out to mike post!

  • Good show...I always preferred the original Country & Western sounding intro.

  • I LOVE Season 1 of Simon & Simon, A.J. and Rick are so hilarious and they don't nonsense from anyone and neither do their mom Cecilia, and plus, Myron Fowler was a mess and his daughter Janet was HOT!!!

Barry De Vorzon who also composed the theme to S.W.A.T. as well as The Young and the Restless did an excellent job with the theme and BTW, this show was on when The Joker's Wild, Hot Potato & BULLSEYE were still on the air and Wink Martindale and Jim Caldwell were still hosting Tic Tac Dough

  • That's the "western" part of "country and western", dude.

  • This was the shows best introduction and theme. Can't understand why CBS changed it. Fortunately, the action stayed the same.

  • @14DaveHunter This intro was nowhere as good as the final theme music. However, I do agree this one is still good.

  • I liked the red Camaro the best in this show. I always thought it was neat that these two guys had a nice, flashy red Camaro while the "Hoff" had a talking Trans Am. lol

  • haha Rick Simon's Power Wagon was so badass

  • I don't like this intro. I like the 2nd, 3rd and 4th seasons intro

  • This is a nice throwback to the old 80s shows. I liked this introduction song to the series... complete with a rather fun string of visuals. This music had a kind of folksy style to it.

One of the better detective shows at its time.

  • I love this show, but the violence in every single episode is STAGGERING, even by today's (cruddy) standards.

Marlowe -- coolest dog ever?? You betcha!!! He's a talented painter, too.

    S&S humor was always fantastic.

Rick, or AJ? Well, I certainly wouldn't kick either of 'em out of bed, that's for sure.

  • @rem2267 -- Oops, forgot to add that the show was VERY depressing at times. I have cried often, watching S&S. This was helped along by great writing and acting. Bastards! :-D

  • Loved that show and still love it, they're the true heirs of Rockford!

  • Is it just me, or is television overrun with "serious" detective and crime shows these days. There's some fantastic drama on the tube these days, but I really wish someone would package a show like this, with a pair of misfit leads, a mix of action, detection and comedy, and, of course, a decent theme song that runs for more than 10 friggin' seconds!

  • @Coolestmovies Have you tried something like Psych on USA?

  • AJ is like a father image to me.

  • PS: correction--it was the Thrasher Bros, not the Thatcher bros who sang the closing...sorry!

  • I loved this first version--the mariachi arrangement gives it a real flavour for the milieu; and the closing vocals by the Thatcher bros is fun too; nothing wrong with subsequent theme that followed but it's slick and lacks the flavour of the original. my 2 cents worth anyway

  • i just started watching this show in netflix , i think magnum is way bettter but im starting to get into simon and simon

  • This is the Thrasher Brothers "Best Of Friends" theme. There words to the song, some of which could be heard in the closing credits. This theme fits Simon & Simon so much better than the later theme. They should have kept it.

  • I like it too, sort of a combination of a Mexican and a country sounding tune...and the visuals are amusing, especially the part where they are looking at the girls in bikinis through binoculars, only to realize their thug boyfriends are standing behind them...How come their mother, Mary Carver, isn't included though, as in later seasons? Was she not on the show during sesason 1?

  • Noooooooooo. this theme sucked. atleast compard to the newer one. the later theme is one of the best theme songs of any tv show EVER!

  • this earlier version has a hoaky mexican flava. i like the later edgier version better.

  • Dude, like, I cannot believe this show was set in my hometown in San Diego!

  • Season 1 has the better theme and open. I would love to have a Rick Simon Powerwagon.

  • I loved Simon & Simon. Totally remember this intro. Looking back, it seems inspired by the travelling to Bolivia montage from Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid.

  • Season had the better open and theme. The Rick Simon Power Wagon was one of my favorite TV vehicles.

  • The superior intro, in my opinion. It looked like a Storm Thorgerson painting.

  • I always like this intro better

  • was this theme all of season 1?

  • The one show where both themes sound good

  • @MitchellSG1 yeah both were good. I'm pretty sure neither was by Mike Post, so they didn't sound like EVERY OTHER theme song of that period.

  • Season one dude

  • Yeah I know. It's posted that way.
