this is making me sad imma 17 years old and i play football and it goes to show that ANYTHING can happen while playing ANY sport. My first alabama game i saw Tyrone Prothro's ankle was snapped and broken and i cried to my mom cause his ankle looked like a limp noodle. god bless you Kev!! you fought back persevered and are a real role model
i remember i still played football aat this point, and my coach made this a big deal, to not tackle with your head down. i actually just found out he could walk. they should make a movie out of this. so inspritational
I remember watching the game on TV as a Bills fan.. It was one of those scary moments where you just pray that he is going to move.. Hoping for a thumbs up that he wasn't paralyzed.. Then I heard the news about the paralysis. It was terrible, and saddening.. But reading about his improvement is touching and inspirational. If there was ever a case of not ever giving up, no matter what, this proves it. Determination.. Perseverance.. Impossible is nothing.
Any chance the dictionary could get an edit to include his name under the word "Perseverance"? He had a lot going for him, already in superb shape, a bit of luck, new medical procedures, amazing doctors and rehabilitation team... but seriously, even with the prize being able to move again, the amount of gut wrenching pain and work he had to do in order to be there is astounding.
I still feel really bad for him.... When you get hurt or see someone you know get hurt, it's a really powerful feeling. I witnessed one of my friends from school get hit by a car. She was got hit very hard that she didn't move for a couple minutes. The majority of my school saw it happen as well. We all thought that she was dead. But she moved and started talking. Her leg and head was really hurting her. I was the only one who called our school's parent coordinator to tell our principal.
and ppl still dont understand why NFL players get paid like they do your more likely to have a concusion or die or get paralyze when tow 240lb + men run into each other each going about 20 mph each then you are setting at a desk
This is the kind of moment that makes you realize that sports REALLY aren't that serious! This moment is sooo much bigger than any superbowl! PRICELESS!!!
i remember reading about how the medics on the field immediately injected some cold gel into his spine so that the injury wouldn't swell, and how this key element was they were able to surgically allow for his recovery. if he had hurt himself in any other forum (car accident, at home, etc.) where a medic wasnt immediately available, he would never have recovered.
Congrats Kevin from those of us of NFL nation forget fan alliances this story is so inspirational you are the man in the game of life its bigger then football.
everyone says you need heart to play the game? Kevin Everett is living proof of that. very powerful and moving. congrats Kevin i'm a Packers fan but you'll always have my respect of life.
omg I go sooo emotional he's such an inspiration and also I noticed that sophia bush was totally getting teary eyed when Mr. Everett came out! hhahhaha no it's very emotional and fergie's face too she was like wow it's unbelievable!!
