I follow both the Indigo Girls and Amy Ray. I may anger some, here, but I've always liked the way Amy rocks it out. All three of her solo albums are noteowrthy and are treaures. I also have all the Indogo girls CDs, too, and they are special as well. There's just something about Amy Ray that reaches out to me... she's tough but she has a heart.
Ah, that's O.K. There's nothing like discovering a musician after they've been recording awhile. You have so much to choose from. If you ever want to get into the Indigo Girls, listen to what's on You Tube first and then start buying CDs. There are quite a few and they all differ in some way. The best way to start is their retrospective CD. I can't say I have a real favourite because all of their CDs have good songs. It just depends upon what you're looking for. Amy rocks, Emily is melodic.
I have known of them since 12yrs old..I am 36 now. My fav band ever. Amy has good sh**!!! They are the best no matter what anyone says..ever!!!

I just got your new album (on the big black shiny format :) ).
I confess to the slightly odd 'sin' of having no Indigo Girls records, but having each of your full-length studio releases.
And, given my honorary beardyke status, my fave song is 'Lucy Stoners'. ;)
