Keeper of the gate: Kafka. But here's the kicker: What all of us want is being happy, joyfull, fulfilled, powerfull. It does, in no way, involve 'stuff'. "treat them as the universe treats them. " Well it helps, somewhat. You just need very strong nerves and a set of earplugs...

@susanshelit yep it's interesting how easy it is to deal with people now that I'm not confused by their various wants. Ultimately they're seeking a feeling of happiness and comfort and joy - or at least something that will make them feel better. I don't take it so personally when I see that it's really about their struggle to find something that feels better FOR THEM. Maybe I can encourage them past the nasty thoughts to something that feels even better, now that I know :) :)
