They all have their own feel to them. IMO no other band has EVER spanned the emotions from the depths of deepest depression to exultant soaring joy like PJ. They cover the gamut, I love them, and will always love them.
@yovioleatuzorramadre No, ten beats this hands down. They got worse as they went along IMO. Their first 2 releases along with Yield are timeless, Vitalogy is a mess once again IMO. Apart from that, Eddie is still my fav vocalist and I always check back and play these masterpieces.

It's not grunge, but it has a lot of grunge influences and it's a strong and consistent album, on of the best of 2009. After Black gives way to blue (AiC) it's my favorite from 2009

Surf rock, space rock, kraut rock, fusion - fuckin sick and awesome stuff !
Imho almost every music genre has precious music, you just have to search deep enough for it, but there are music genres who just have a tendency to more music quality and grunge is one of them.
I don't know why grunge fans are so elitest. Boy bands and glam metal were necessary to the diversity and evolution of music. They feel the exact same way about grunge as we do their music. It's just a matter of taste.
Plus, the grunge movement wasn't all peaches and cream. I can't get enough of 90s rock, Pearl Jam being my favorite of the movement (even though Cornell was my favorite vocalist), but the "post-grunge" shit on the radio now I can't stand. And who do you think influenced them?

to credit nirvana for half the music we have today is not such a positive thing. nirvana spawned some terrible grunge-lite bands unfortunetly. i think the great thing about that band aside from the songs is their exposing me to bands like dinosaur jr, the fastbacks, the melvins, sonic youth, bad brains, etc.

nirvana didnt lead to any of the music we have today. todays music is caused by the 90s american pop punk stuff...thats why u get bands like all time low and all american rejects who sound identical to stuff like miley cyrus but with male singers...there is barely any grunge influence in modern music (which is why modern music is shit)

Pearl Jam was responsible for those adult-grunge-lite acts like Creed and Three Doors Down and Fuel.
Alice In Chains cursed us with Godsmack.
And yeah, Green Day and Blink 182 led to the POP-PUNK OUTBREAK we have today.

yea, but ur saying that these bands CAUSED the shit bands of today...its not pearl jam's/nirvana's or even Blink 182's fault...its the fault of a bunch of retards who tried to make music in their style, but failed and just made it insanely fucking lame.
90s rock music was/is still incredible to listen to, just cus a bunch of posers came along to try and rip them off doesnt make the origional bands any less incredible.

lol yea, i have to stop myself listening to 'rock' music today...cus it takes the name 'rock' but is basically pop music (like miley cyrus and kelly clarkson) with a male singer...give the songs the same singer and there will literally be no difference. and in most cases the shit like miley cyrus is actually more 'rockin' so id rather listen to her! haha which is TOTALLY wrong, but its happened cus rock is so shit now..oh and on the other side there is that bollocks fag metal screaming crap!

i'll give you that. "Save Me" is still a killer song, and "I Dare You" wasn't bad either. 45 was alright, but a little whiney.
i don't have their newest album, but from ever song i've heard off of it (5 or 6 total) its totally ripped off of the grunge scene.

It's not grunge, but it has a lot of grunge influences and it's a strong and consistent album, on of the best of 2009. After Black gives way to blue (AiC) it's my favorite from 2009

Cobain was a brilliant songwriter, he would shit hooks. But, songwriting should never be forced, and this is why so many great songwriters are pressured into writing shit. In the end, he was ashamed of the music forced out of him, he deserved better as did Elvis. The music industry is fucked.

But, I guess post-grunge is just proof of over-saturation of one thing on the market. Glam metal and pop music wasn't always bad. It only became bad when all the cookie-cutter ripoffs came along, and the same thing has happened to alternative rock. We need a new big thing. I look forward to the next revolution, because the rock that has taken command of the radio this past decade has me bored to fucking tears.
But long live the grunge we all know and love :-)

Yeah, you know what ya talkin' about ^^ ... whereas I have to admit that I'm not that optimistic than you. My music exploration is more turned into past. What I've found so far:
Surf rock, space rock, kraut rock, fusion - fuckin sick and awesome stuff !
Imho almost every music genre has precious music, you just have to search deep enough for it, but there are music genres who just have a tendency to more music quality and grunge is one of them.

I don't know why grunge fans are so elitest. Boy bands and glam metal were necessary to the diversity and evolution of music. They feel the exact same way about grunge as we do their music. It's just a matter of taste.
Plus, the grunge movement wasn't all peaches and cream. I can't get enough of 90s rock, Pearl Jam being my favorite of the movement (even though Cornell was my favorite vocalist), but the "post-grunge" shit on the radio now I can't stand. And who do you think influenced them?
