  • Thank you so much! this was so helpfull! :D

  • I just wanted to say this is a brilliant product, I WILL be buying it and also a great video, straight to the point, no B.S in it and VERY helpful! Thanks again!

  • I really like what you've done but when I went to the site to check the price of it I found that the price was a little high for what I thought it would be worth! Awesome product though!

  • great idea!

  • @Barbadian2k8 Thanks for your comments. There is a lot of labor and care that goes into every kit that I put together. This product is handmade and not mass-produced and thus the price reflects this. The DSLR Follow Focus has been quite well received in the industry. I have had people who use rail follow focus systems purchase my kit because of the ease-of-use and portability. Thanks again for taking the time to provide your opinion. Take care.

  • Can i just get rid of the focus sometimes and make it normal without focus because sometimes when i want to make an action scene with a dslr camera , i don't want it to blurred out suddenly.

  • @karimspiano I am not sure I understand your question. Can you please explain in more detail what you are asking?

  • @SpenceDesignVideos well , this is a rare question , what i am asking is :'' can i have everything in focus on dslr camera , not just one thing with a blurry background, like can it act like a normal camera cause sometimes i want to remove this focus effect (a subject in focus with a blurry background behind him) and just keep everything in focus , like a what a normal camcorder can do ? is that better?

  • @karimspiano Certainly, just close the aperture of you lens down to f/11 or f/16 to get achieve a less shallow depth of field and most everything in the frame will be in focus. It would somewhat defeat the reason for using a DSLR for video though. If most of your shooting situations would be like this, you would be better off NOT using a DSLR but a cheaper video camera instead. I hope this is helpful.

  • @SpenceDesignVideos well , i do want to use that awesome blur effect but not for every part of the film i am making , i want to use it in nice close ups and use a low aperature for everything to be in focus for fight scenes , i hope you see what i am need for now?

  • @karimspiano Not a problem, just be sure you have your lens aperture stopped down (f/11+) and it will make the whole scene mostly in focus. I do this when using my Glidecam as the delicate balance can get knocked off if I try to pull focus. Focus is much less critical when your lens is stopped down. You can also use a wide lens + small aperture to assist with having everything in focus. Set your needed aperture and then adjust your ISO for proper exposure. I hope that helps.

  • @SpenceDesignVideos ok , do you know the cheapest wide lens out there in the market

  • this guy reminds me of steve jobs

  • Are they available in the UK?

    And great bid very innovative

  • @stevoken1

Yes, we ship all over the world. All international shipping, except for Canada, is $19.95. You can order from the website linked in the video description. Let me know if I can be of further assistance. - DSLR Solutions

  • Brilliantly minimal, too bad it won't work on the only two lenses I'll be able to afford after plunking my savings dowrn on a T3i :/

  • @ONIProductionsLtd

I assume that you are talking about the Canon 18-55mm Kit lens & the the Canon 50mm f/1.8? If so, I just developed a smaller size with a rubber ring that works on the 18-55mm kit lens, it should be available sometime this coming week. Unfortunately the new addition will not work with the 50mm f/1.8

due to the tapering focus ring. I also recently developed an extra small size for use with older Takumar M42 manual lenses. Sign up on our site to be notified of new products.

  • @SpenceDesignVideos Oh splendid! Thanks for the heads up, appreciated

  • @ONIProductionsLtd You are welcome. I ran out of characters in my last reply, so I was not able to specify where to sign up for updates. You can sign up for updates in the right hand column of any sub-page of the website linked in the video description. Regards

  • Gr8. Loved it.

  • Brilliant

  • the focus ring on the Canon 18-55 and 50mm 1.8 is very small. Would this be able to work well with these lenses?

  • @NoSkillUG

Sorry, but this solution will not work with the Canon 18-55mm kit lens or the Canon 50mm f/1.8. As you noted, the focus rings are too small in size to properly accommodate the DSLR Follow Focus. Those lenses also present problems for more expensive follow focus systems.

The DSLR Follow Focus works nicely with the Canon 50mm f/1.4 and Canon 18mm-135mm though. Check out the FAQ page on our website linked in the video description for a partial list of Canon lenses.

  • Hello, my name is Ariel, from Argentina. I´d like to buy this follow focus. Tell me how I can. Sorry, my english is not good. Thanks.

  • @AmerindiaProd

Ariel, in the video description there is a link to the website where you can purchase the DSLR Follow Focus. There are two size kits available and a combo kit that includes both sizes on the website. Just measure your lens focus rings to determine what size you need. Once on the website look for the "DSLR Follow Focus" navigation item. "Add to Cart" buttons are toward the bottom of the page. --DSLR Solutions

  • @SpenceDesignVideos Thanks! But my question is, the price will be the same in Argentina or will pay a tax? The product send me by FedEx directly to my home? Thanks again. Ariel

  • @AmerindiaProd

We use USPS Priority Mail for all our international shipping. All international shipping is $19.95 USD. I hope that helps.

  • @calebvmusic

I am not sure if the standard sizes will work with your Sony Nex-5 -- 18-55mm lens. You will need to measure your lenses focus ring to find out. The best thing you can do is visit the website linked in the video description and look for the "measure your lens" link on the website as there is a printable ruler and a video detailing a couple different ways to get the focus ring measurement. Alternately, I can craft you a custom size for a little more money.

  • Quick question...

Would it be possible to add different sizes to an existing kit?

For those of us who wouldn't want to buy a complete kit with every size.

    Thx

  • @SmalltimR

Yes, we are considering a kit with three rings and one set of markers/strap etc. Check the website next week for more information.

  • Most excellent!

And I agree on the different sizes!

I use many older MF lenses for video and many are of the odd size type.

But this little gadget looks like gold!

  • Amazingly useful. Thanks for this!

  • this is just great!!! awesome product!!!

  • what is the price point going to be for this? I love it, by the way. :D

  • @Ninjaculation

It is already for sale and the price is $60. You can access the site by using the link in the video description.

  • Holy crap this his exactly what I need for my next movie :O THANKS

  • @flixltp

Glad to hear the DSLR Follow Focus is going to fit your needs. Be sure to measure your lenses focus ring and note that two more sizes are coming next week. The current one works great on many lenses (see the FAQ page), but we have had several requests for a couple different sizes. Have a great day!

  • Is your camera a canon 60d?

  • @mexicanayosoy

All footage was captured with a Canon 60D, the camera used as the demo unit in the video is actually my 40D as I needed my 60D to shoot the video with.

  • Very cool

  • Link to your website doesn´t works.

  • @2210vera

We have had a ton of traffic due to the recent Gizmodo reference, the site should be back online now.

  • Great idea, sir. Once I have the equipment, I'm definitely planning on buying this.

  • Very good idea and product

    Good luck
