Maine Coons are great cats, we have one, SmokeyToes plays fetch and plays in water too! And he's HUGE, 20 lbs and 37 inches long. By the way, if you want a MC cat, you don't need to go to a breeder, we got ours from a rescue agency. There are plenty of pure breed rescue cats that need homes, check with a rescue agency first!

I got a cat Payton from a local animal shelter. He's not pure Maine Coon, but definitely got some of the breed in him. Apollo looks quite a bit like him, this made me SMILE :-)
The entire video, I expected Apollo to jump right in, lol. I was staying at my cousin's once and they have a coon who can apparently open doors. I was taking a shower and all of a sudden, a black blob darts into the bathtub with me, scaring me silly. When I realize it's just the cat playing around with the water, I calm down, finish my shower and take him with me when I go out. He's still sopping wet and everyone just laughed themselves sick at the sight of him and of what happened to me.
If you want a true Maine Coon, you need to go to a breeder. I don't know where you live, but if you google Maine Coon Breeders you will get a list of breeders in your area. They sell pet quality cats. If you want the qualities of a Maine Coon, you should go to a reputable breeder. We got both Apollo and Jasper from the Koontahdin Cattery and her cats are beautiful!
The maine coon me and my now ex b/f used to have would always watch me when I was in the pool of our apartment complex( our apartment overlooked the pool which made it easy for him to see) he would his front paws on the window sill and meow the whole time

That's so cute! My Maine Coon does the same thing. If I decide to relax in the bath, I have to be careful to shut the door all the way. Otherwise she sits on the side of the tub and stares at me. awkward. lol.

Suggesting that it is not always a safe decision to show your child NAKED online does not imply that babies are sexy, only that there are some people out there that may find them so. Since a child is not at an age where they can make decisions regarding their own safety yes I do think it's important to keep them off here, if only because it's better to be safe than sorry.

Maine Coons are a very Majestic breed mostly docile their size comes with some serious power & speed if they feel cornered or under threat I personally Know of an account of an otherwise docile Maine coon jumping 6 feet in the air and seriously scratching his owners scalp. I later found the woman had been shaking her hair at the cat in a playful manner a "game" that had been played before without consequence. as they age this friskiness is replaced with laziness ! Love your Maine coon!!

Hi, Thanks for your comments. Maine Coons are such individuals. Apollo makes the sweet trilling noise, while Jasper meows very loudly. Our first maine coon was a loner whose favorite spot was atop my curio cabinet. My 2 cats have the same father but different mothers. Apollo is extremely social and wants to be with you while I call Jasper regal. He loves attention and petting, but doesn't seek it out like Apollo. The best part of these boys is how gentle they are with babies. Great cats!
My MC is very friendly, but mostly in the bathroom. Always follows me in and wants to be held and loved on. Any other time things are HER way. She also does the trilling. I think the only downfall is when she wakes me up in the early morning to play fetch. Or when she stashes all my hair ties. lol LOVE maine coons. We are looking to add another to our family.

MY fmr boyfriend lived in an apartment in Cali that overlooked the complex's pool. Every time I was in it, our Maine Coon would put his front paws on the window and meow at me! I always figured he hated water (like most cats) and it was his way of saying "mom! water is bad!"

My first apartment was small, and we had our Maine Coon there initially. He got by just fine. They just seem to have more energy than most breeds and need to be played with a lot, but that's no big deal.
I think the males are more friendly then the females (for some unknown reason). My boy's such a sappy little guy, and is also a complete pig. Me and him are so alike, all we think about is food like every second of the day. So not good! I'm gonna try and get him on youtube.
I agree, but we have 2 Maine Coon Cats and the male is a Darling and the Female is kinda of Cranky and not no where as friendly as the male, but it was told to me when doing research that The Maine Coon Cat is the most Friendly cat you will ever find in the world. I know this is true..

I think my kitten might have some Maine Coon in her. I've started taking more baths (as opposed to showers, not as opposed to being filthy) because she hangs over the edge or sits on the rim and reaches in to play with the water, shaving cream lids, etc. This morning (day 4) I found one of her toys in her water dish... any time I turn on water she's right there wanting a look. This video really made me think that i do have a half MC :)

also just so you know healthy cats are supposed to have a little fat on them, they are not dogs, if your cat doesn't have a small amount of belly then you are a neglectful owner.
i'd have to say mine has all the best feature of dogs and cats. he plays fetch, chases his tail, very extroverted and loves people like dogs. plays in the water like a dog, but doesn't pee and poop everywhere. Maine coons are great.

I think the males are more friendly then the females (for some unknown reason). My boy's such a sappy little guy, and is also a complete pig. Me and him are so alike, all we think about is food like every second of the day. So not good! I'm gonna try and get him on youtube.

I agree, but we have 2 Maine Coon Cats and the male is a Darling and the Female is kinda of Cranky and not no where as friendly as the male, but it was told to me when doing research that The Maine Coon Cat is the most Friendly cat you will ever find in the world. I know this is true..
I have had lots of Cats growing up and the male is just so laid back and mellow and boy does he love to Cuddle with ya,

I don't think that's entirey true. For the majority, you're probably right. But my maine coon is a male, and he's an evil cat! He steals my dog's toys and bites alot of people.

omg every video i watch i just fall more in love with maine coons! APOLLO IS SOOOO CUTE!!!! question: does anyone know if males or females are better (more friendly dont scratch/bite) ya no that kind of stuff. cuz i want to get one but as far as i can see both genders seem very friendly and very well behaved. my main coon yr old cat, JoJo always whines when someone is about to take a shower in come in. He'll check inside like in the vid. weird. do all main coons do that?

oh my I just love your Maine coon! So cute! Maine coons do love the water, and some say it's because they're ansestors live on boats for such a long time. (But I think it's because they're the cutest cats ever! ^_^)

That is soooo cute! My Maine Coon, Amelia, has also taken to sticking her head past the shower curtain into my shower while I'm showering. She also likes to climb into the tub after I have showered. Is this a behavior specific to Maine Coons?

my ucles maine coon does the same thing except it opens thos glass dorrs for the show and the curtain and jumps in its cute and all but its just weird seeing the cat watch you take a showeru try take out of the tub but its like 30 paunds

My Maine Coon loved being in the bathroom when someone was taking a bath. She would stand on the ledge like Apollo did, and just watch the water or the person in the tub. So cute...

I think my kitten might have some Maine Coon in her. I've started taking more baths (as opposed to showers, not as opposed to being filthy) because she hangs over the edge or sits on the rim and reaches in to play with the water, shaving cream lids, etc. This morning (day 4) I found one of her toys in her water dish... any time I turn on water she's right there wanting a look. This video really made me think that i do have a half MC :)

They are wild, beautiful but yet gentle and loving.

My cat does that when I'm in the tub, but it's not as interesting as a baby in the tub with toys, plus he is not even 2 yet. His attention span isn't that long, but he does love to watch and jump up like that and tries to bat the water a little hehe

I have two brother Maine Coons, Gunther and Klaas. Gunther opens doors just like the posted video, and Klaas turns on my water faucets if I'm not around. Worse than kids!

Maine Coons are great with kids, dogs, and are much smarter than an ordinary cat. Even though I love all cats, I know without a doubt that Maine Coons are special.

They are pretty muscular as adults. They grow for about 3 years before they reach their full size. My adolescent cat Jasper is surprisingly muscular.

i'd have to say mine has all the best feature of dogs and cats. he plays fetch, chases his tail, very extroverted and loves people like dogs. plays in the water like a dog, but doesn't pee and poop everywhere. Maine coons are great.
