It is very sad that many modern Greeks don't bother to learn the history of their (our) beautiful language. Read about it here biblicalgreek[dot]org/links/pronunciation.php brothers and sisters. For Mr @stchsingleton is using the ancient pronunciation that came before your own modern pronunciation. Please look into it and learn. :) And Mr. @stchsingleton, If I knew the modern pronunciation, could I easily understand the biblical Greek?
You should be ashamed of your self!!!! This is worse than terrible! You clearly have no clue as to what you are on about and the fact that some ppl may be learning from this is horrific! Its ppl like you who give a bad name to things. If I were you I would delete this video and get some proper lessons before uploading anything more. Shame on you for disgracing such a beautiful language!
Σ that was the first litter i saw in my life when i was a kid .. it was on 1977 mitsubishi sedan cars .. and i was so confused of what dose it mean ???? kids never ask for meaning of things the wanna discover it them selves lol .. till now honestly i don't know what is it and why it was on that car ? :D
Some letters r pronounced completely wrong, even though there r words in english that, when pronounced, sound much closer to the actual greek letter. These are: mu=me nu=knee pi=pee rho=raw phi=fee chi=he And some more advise: beta=vee-ta eta=ee-ta xi= like the 2nd syllable of the word "aCCIdent" or like "aXIs" psi=like the 2nd syllable of the word "pePSI" upsilon=hip-see-lawn iota= like the word "toΥΟΤΑ" (but without the first syllable (to))
@Bebe7077 The difference is, I am using Erasmian pronunciation, not modern. You are measuring my video by a ruler I wasn't using. If someone wants to learn modern Greek, they need to go elsewhere. I'm teaching a one-sound-for-one-spelling system in use for the past 400 years to teach people to read Greek, not to speak it.
@arvachrisss I am well aware t6hat this is not modern pronunciation. Erasmian is used to help people learn to read Greek, and it has a respectable tradition of 400 years of use among classicists and biblical scholars. If you want to learn modern Greek, my videos are not for you!
@stchsingleton im a greek, i ask my grand grand mother who knows very well about it, cause she was a teacher, and she agrees also with @bebe7077 and @arvachriss. its and it was μ=me , ν= knee , τ=tough.
@FOGADREAS No doubt your grandmother is correct about spoken Greek, at least modern (recent) Greek. Erasmian Greek is for non-Greeks to learn how to read Greek, not to order in a restaurant or converse on the streets of Athens or Thessaloniki. And it is for reading Koiné Greek, literature from the period from about 300 BCE (the time of Alexander) to about 300 CE, the time of the Byzantines.
@stchsingleton I'm greek and i also know ancient greek as well... the alphabet ( except some differences in the letters) is the same and the pronounciation is the same from 770-750 BC... if you call that modern what can i say....
The old Greeks didn't pronounce the Theta, like the English th, but almost just like the T with a soft breath behind it (a spiritus asper, but never mind that). That's my comment.
Eh, people who think this is modern Greek, this is the Greek from the Ancient Greece...
Or am I wrong?

Don't mind the bigots, but you anglicize the pronunciation a little.
Beta should be V-e-ta as in Vi-ctoria
Gamma should be w-a-mma.(as the w of water )(it ll still be off but that is the best i can remember of a similar sound in English)
Delta should be (the-lta as in the)
Zeta should be Z-e-ta with an E.
Theta should be th-e-ta with an e as it pronounce in the alphabet.
Tau is taf.
When ever u see g it is pronounced as in Gamma(e.g omega--> omewa/me as in metric).G in Greek is TZ as in jello.

I love different scripts and languages they are so interesting especially the Greek Alphabets which comes form Paleo-Hebrew.

Adorable job!!!! To make things right the correct pronounciation of the letters:
Μ,μ--->not 'MU' the correct is like we say the word 'me' (myself)
N,n---> not 'nU' but like we say the word 'knee'
Τ,τ--->not 'tAU' but like we say the word ''tough''
