  • Hello Carla,

I love your work and have been exploring this medium. Do you always use glue under the gesso? Does the glue have to dry first? I just use the drywall mud straight on the canvas.

    Thanks again

  • that was cool thanks for showing us your techn. this is real art and good

  • @commonthread2

    Your'e welcome!

  • Amazing!!!!!

  • Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with the world! I learned a lot and love the way you have been creative with your materials.

  • Thanks a lot for your comment!

  • Wat is that gesso ? from sweden;)

  • @78Musi Gesso is a white paint mixture consisting of a binder mixed with chalk, gypsum, pigment, or any combination of these. You can buy it in any art shop.

  • It is great to see you both painting ;) Beautiful colour combinations and great result Carla:) I like

    Love the music too

  • Hey Gary! Thank you :-))

  • Carla,I love to look in your hard and very interesting work.Best regards.Liva

  • Hi Liva,

Thanks for watching, I appreciate your comment :)

  • Brill.......that's an abbreviation for brilliant!

  • And ehh.. what is 'abbreviation'?

No, just a joke, I can guess that :)

  • so pleased to see you share your passion lady carla..

    bravo...

    take a bow!

  • Robert, you're most charming, thanks :-)

  • How lucky I am to be inspired by some one so far away.

  • You make me smile :D

  • Awsome!

  • Tnx! :)

  • wow another wonderful piece carla i love watching your vidoes,

  • Thank you very much Crissi :)

  • Wonderful painting! I really like those shapes you use to make imprints. Do you make them yourself?

  • I buy these imprint in an art shop, it is MDF. I use it as a stencil too.

  • You did it again, Carla ... another great work! I have a question. What was in the white bucket after you used wall hole filler? It was before the gesso. This is a great series! Love it, love it, love it!!!

  • Thanks Nola! I did use heavy gel medium, I forgot to mention that :)

  • Loved watching you blend those colours Carla (and nice seeing Klaas in the background there!)

  • Thanks Mary. Yes, Klaas is painting too (but he doesn't make a lot vids ;-)

  • Love this series !!!

I watched your previous videos, are you using glue before the wall plaster? After plaster, gesso and then some other medium (caracol)? Are all these steps necessary to adhere and seal? It seems Gary Reef paints directly on the plaster.

    Thx again for sharing!

  • Sometimes I use a strong glue, but I don';t think that is required, so I do it without too.

I use 'Caparol' an acrylic binder, I think it's something like any other acrylic medium. But again, I don't know if it's really required, but I think it makes it more durable, and if you paint directly on the plaster it 'slurps' the brilliance of the acrylics. But may the plaster that Gary is using, is not the same as mine..

  • I love the turquoise color you used here!

  • Me too :)

I want to make a turquoise shape, I'm busy with it.

  • Hi Carla, Your one busy lady there. Thanks for sharing your video, It's great as usual.......... I loved that music too.

  • Thanks Angela, the music is from Olivier Shanti & his friends again :-)

  • Awesome Carla, just love your work!

  • Just as much as you love me? ;)
