is it a shame that i weigh about 268 lbs. and my height is 6'2...and i can move to this like im boogaloo shrimp, not to mention im 18yrs old lol I BE KILLIN THOUGH
you guys wouldn´t believe how back then things even without internet made their way round the globe. We bought the wax in germany in an import recordstore frequented by the gi´s, and brought it to our friends. That made more impact than any share button -
I'm white and not particularly into rap/hip-hop, but man....these classic electro tracks really have something to them. The epic synth sound of the 80's. Have to get more acquainted with this sort of music....
@TheForeverWorld There used to be a great little record shop in London called Groove Records during the 80's electro heyday where you could pick up all the latest 12" vinyl imports from NYC.I used to go down there almost every weekend to spend my pocket money on the latest records. You also had the series of electro mix records from the UK's Streetwave label where I first heard this Key-Matic track.
Dayum!!! I remember them playing this at the Silver Shadow in Manhattan. Everybody would lose they mind and hit the dance floor with or without a dance partner; then the DJ would keep mixin' it down on two tables for at least 30 minutes. My feet would be screamin' because of the heels, but I couldn't feel a thang on this song.
As a kid from B-More I remember hearing this song on Mack James!! he always played the latest hip-hop from NY. I was 15 when this came out. Found the 12" to this 4 years ago at a flee market! Love this classic!
You know what fucks me up songs like this dont get they props cuz back in the day there wasnt no mass media. Im from pa we didnt know what was hittin in newyork unless somebody from uptop came down and showed u the latest dance moves and brought u the latest songs.Thats how i got into hip hop didnt know they was calling it that back in the day. Unless u was from a big city u was basically clueless. I found this song from memeory all i rememered was the beat and the hook. GOOD LOOKIN YOU TUBE
i was 16 too when this came out and have to agree that 84 was probably the best year for electro in my opinion....this was on streetsounds electro 4 if i remember correctly....class tune!!......would do anything to go back in time!!
oh yer classic..... classic going on 40 & all streetsounds still sound Fresh..... own all them still will not give them up ....bring them all back ....play loud
I was sixteen when this came out - massive thanks to Morgan Khan and the streetsounds crew for bring this sound to the attention of us UK kids at the time who were considered freaks for breaking , graffitti and djing . Still got my technics set up and all my 3 rooms of vinyl - so much for a fad eh !! Keep it alive all you 40plus yr olds out there now - still the best music around !!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was the tune my generation would jam too. That was our little wayne & the rest of those over rated modern cats tunes.... which moved just as many cats back in the day... only diff... it was underground shit w.o. internet, ipods... etc.. we moved our music by word of mouth flyers tagged by hand & if your ass was @ the hot spots in the n.y.c. Peace to the old school heads & u know who you are!!!
@DJKCDEE Im only speaking the truth... not trying too hurt feelings or start any trouble. But its the truth... hip hop/rap was told too all who supported its sounds back in the day that it would not last just a fad. Well its our modern rock & roll & beyound. The only diff from the early yrs to the present is that corp america has watered this art down big time. Peace too all the old school heads!
@port2344chester thanks to street sounds records and dj's like mike allen we got to hear all these classics in the UK, tuning in late night with a blank D90 ready, US rap, soul, go-go, being tuned into by kids across the pond, some like me out in little back end of nowhere towns, hearing this music was like hearing something from another planet. Constantly had this one on the walkman and boombox on the 'electro 4' cassette. Old school now, but back then so future.
@hidproductions Thanks for the insight... happy to hear that my fellow tubers across the pond jammed this as much as the states did. Cats across the pond threw down numerous joints that turned many heads in the states as well..its universal .. again thanks for hitting me up.. Peace & 1 Love.. YOUR TUBE FRIEND Port!
@port2344chester I definitely remember these times. I am from NYC and these were true songs of the 80's. Breakin. Breakin 2 electric boogaloo, Wild Style, Krush Groove, and the all time favorite BEAT STREET. Yeah, I wish we had those times again. I only relive it through old cassettes and VHS movies.
@1luckie1 Nothing like the old school.. thanks for responding back with a classic comment.. yes i too recall those TOP NOTCH movies.... time machine material 4 sure..keep the vibe alive.. SMOKIN THROW BACKS!..Peace..Port!

God I love this song, one of my favourites off the streetsounds electro series. I remember being given a tape by a lad at school in 1984 that just said 'electro' on it, and loved it ever since!!! Cracking upload.
I LOVE THIS TRACK! IT MINDS ME A LITTLE OF DAFT PUNK. Does anyone know what genre/style of music this would be called? i want more of this type of music!
This is my favourite electro song. Its so classy & soulful, the original 12 " also as extra bonus beats. Keymatic also released Jazz-Up & Hip Hop featuring najee again on sax
What a trip down memory lane.....electro 4,still got it on tape..lol...timeless classic.......i so wish i could go back in time and enjoy those years once more
OMG! I spent many a weekend blasting this from Electro 4 back in day. This meant something, when the Space Shuttle launched I was convinced it would only be a matter of weeks before the first space-break dancers would be sent up HA!
This has got to be the coolest shit I had never heard. I don't ever remember Jazz sax being part of this music back in the day. I can't stop laughing. I like it.

This is the s**t (first heard this on Kiss FM Kiss Mix @ 6 when they would mix n spin 1980's records)......neglected funk! Was there a video for this song!
Wish the stations here in Miami played stuff like this. That's one thing about NYC radio: there's definitely a more sophisticated appreciation for the origins of today's music.
who??wedr?(no)power96? 1 0 3 5 the beat?same playlist, same 30 songs over and over, power 96 will switch it up and play some latin stuff..i don't even turn on my radio unless its radiate88 or wlrn.youtube or aol radio/old school hip hop now provide my soundtrack in the 305..
tell you what finally did it for me..edr, 96.5,103.5 and 105.1 on the presets in my car..took the kids to the new and improved virginia key beach...on the drive, which only took 25 minutes from down south, same song was played...at the same time..by three of the four stations...twice.sick.
haha...pathetic. i've definitely caught two of them playing the same song many times, but can't recall whether i've heard three stations do it simultaneously! not surprising, though.
in defense of edr..i know they are missing a lot of their old school library...my boy eric g used to tax them by the peach crate loads back in the 90's...
All time favorite from back in days.

who??wedr?(no)power96? 1 0 3 5 the beat?same playlist, same 30 songs over and over, power 96 will switch it up and play some latin stuff..i don't even turn on my radio unless its radiate88 or wlrn.youtube or aol radio/old school hip hop now provide my soundtrack in the 305..

precisely! WEDR and power(less) 96 will play the same song twice within a mere HALF HOUR (wedr does this more often). pathetic...

tell you what finally did it for me..edr, 96.5,103.5 and 105.1 on the presets in my car..took the kids to the new and improved virginia key beach...on the drive, which only took 25 minutes from down south, same song was played...at the same time..by three of the four stations...twice.sick.

haha...pathetic. i've definitely caught two of them playing the same song many times, but can't recall whether i've heard three stations do it simultaneously! not surprising, though.

in defense of edr..i know they are missing a lot of their old school library...my boy eric g used to tax them by the peach crate loads back in the 90's...

"tax them by the peach crate"? hmmm, don't follow. as in, jack their records?
