To the people who own one of these: Do you think the lack of manual transmission was a mistake? How does the automatic do under heavy acceleration?

I honestly don't think it is possible to shift more efficiently than the 5-speed in the SRT pulls off. I was disappointed at first that it wasn't available with a stick. After driving it around for a few months, I'm pretty impressed. If you do get the urge to shift your own, the AutoStick does a good job, particularly on twisty roads. The auto is pretty active though. It will do things like downshift when decelerating or hold gear when having fun, just as if you were shifting it yourself.

I'm glad to hear it. I don't guess it really matters much since I'm having trouble finding one. Besides that, I really can't afford it at the moment (a bunch of things happened at once, leaving me unable to afford too much of anything)...Thanks for the input though.

I agree. I have a 2005 SRT6 and the auto tranny does just fine. I am happy with it seeing as I have owned nothing but manuals until this car.
