Does anyone know how many years of service is required by navy doctors under HPSP ? I know its min. of 2 years of Active Duty, but on average, how many years do doctors serve after med. school ?
I ship to bootcamp in May. i'm so nervous about that but i have my videos about all that i've been through thus far and what i'm most worried about . SO, i am so happy that I got HM as my rate. I've been getting a lot of tips about bootcamp in general, are there any tips y'all know of for HM A school?
The beat and film capturing techniques reminding me of the intro into the sitcom "the office", plus I think that was the first time i've ever heard Canon in a rocked out version.
navy reserves is also another option. Name a private company that offers (and guarantees) you a pension after 20 years of working only 36 days per year. All you youngsters don't forget to think about how you're gonna support yourself when you grow old and can't eat/sleep/shit on your own. Retirement is an issue we all forget to think about until its too late.
Dunno. Spending four years as a Corpsman, getting experience, then going for MECP (which I guess is now part of STA21) doesn't seem like a bad way to go.
Considering how much med school costs, the military is a good option for medical professionals.
Not a bad deal if you can put with the military lifestyle; free school, serve your country, plus get a pension after 20 years. In the Air Force, boot camp for medical officers is only 4 weeks. I don't know about the other branches.
I just conversed with a navy medical officer recruiter, and he said we dont even go to boot camp. Its like an officer training school, where we learn history and terminology with no physical strain whatsoever. Its kind of gay lol
The AF medical officers have it way easier than line officers in regards to initial training (12 week Officer Training School for line officers vs 4 weeks for medical officers), but I give medical professionals credit for doing a tough and important job most people are too squemish to perform.
well.. if you think its gay then just join the actual navy.
they try not to injure their medics because it would suck if a medic was always tired when he/she is operating on you. *double vision.. pushes the bullet even deeper* oops..
Yes, because I like going through 4 years of college, 4 years of med school, and several years of residency so I can take orders from nurses that wear fancier jewelry on their uniforms (Do lawyers and judges in the JAG take orders from paralegals?). One of many reasons why the quality of docs in the military is declining and competent docs are fleeing the service after their contract is up. What's the average MCAT for HPSP recipients? Laughable.
This is a great program dude, besides, you need to get into an accredited med school before you can get the scholarship so realistically its irrelevant what the mcat score is as if they didnt choose the navy they would still be in med school becoming a doctor.
this is from House lolol

Those 2 paddles, they rubbed them together, your not supposed to, it messes up the balance on the metal, delivers an uneven shock.

FYI, I was a non-medical line officer.
