that's a good example of having your dog entertained and have him looking beautiful like that.....it takes a lot of dedication to keep that long hair in good shape....i have two shih tzus and when summer comes i just cut their hair cause i know all the hard work you have to do to keep that hair long and shiny...my respects for those who love and keep shih tzus with their hair long and still make them comfortable and fun.

we got a shih tzu and for the past few years we've kept her hair short coz she gets really knotty otherwise and growled etc when id try and get her knots out. Plus its a lot cooler for her in the Brisbane heat.

Never knew they were a type of dog to go chasing balls etc lol.

i have one shes really not that hard to take care of..i give her a bath once a week..and shave about twice a year and there excercise is very simple one short walk and throw the ball and they will go to sleep

Their grooming is tough. You need to take them to be professionally groomed every six weeks or so and in between, brush them every other day and bathe them every week. If you cut their hair short, it makes the combing and bathing less onerous. I have a lhasa, so the grooming job's similar. They can also be challenging to train, but they want to please. They're just be a little slow to figure out what you want them to do. Better than my girl who figures out what you want, then refuses to do it.

Shih Tzus are WONDERFUL!! They're no more work than any other dogs and very cute and smart! You can clip the coat if you don't want to keep up with the long hair (having a 'show coat' IS a lot of work.) But many people just do a 'puppy cut' which is easier to deal with. I groom both of my dogs and bathing and such isn't that difficult to do. Worth it!!! I can't imagine my life without my Shih Tzu babies!!!

well shi tzu are not really hard to take care of. they actually good with other dogs and kids....the best part about them you can have their hair anyway you like lol. short, long...anyway you like it. longer hair is realy for show dogs i keep my dog hair short as possible cause its easy to comb lol

I woul so love to let my little shih tzu grow her hair that long. I have taken her to the groomers twice for two full haircuts! Its so hard to keep it clean and untangled..an she's indoors all the time.Its pretty much like human hair.Its pretty but it takes alot of work and patience to keep it nice and healthy.I so wish i could do her hair nice and sleek like these puppies.
