There's no HEART to film s today as there's no heart in society especially America. Movies reflect our culture and ethics or non-ethics and non-morality thus films over the last ten years are miserable for the most part - too slick w/out heart. 'Billy Jack' was a last of its kinds among others great 70's flix I proudly own like 'Thunderbolt and Lightfoot.' Little Faus & Big Halsey,' 'Sugarland Express, 'Zardoz,' 'Joe,' 'The Poseidon Adventure,' '(all of john cassevetes home films) etc, etc.
Yes, "Billy Jack" still works- as evidenced by my girlfriend when I introduced her to the film just two years ago. She cried just at the same parts I'd teared up at when I first watched it over thirty years earlier.

I feel many of the biggest grossing films today tend to be the dumbest, and most heartless.
I'm talking about mind numbing silliness like THE TRANSFORMERS (for example).
