Excellent work, Mr. Crowder! This is some great writing. Your brother had some fantastic one-liners. :-) I loved how the story ended for everyone. It was real, and therefore, relatable. I hope to see more work from you and your brother in future.
Well done with the film! Didn't know what to expect with the acting but it was just as good as the story. :) The story is so sad, but at least it's real. You and your brother are both very talented.
I'd been looking forward to this film since i subscribed to your channel back in 2008. I blazed through this film from beginning to end. Great and funny dialogue, character development, acting and production values. It really inspires me as a first year film student myself. This is great quality film making in an industry lacking a lot of heart, honesty and thought. I can't wait to see what you do next. Kudos from Melbourne, Australia. =D
@JordanCrowderFilms I love your work Jordan. I've been waning to see this since I saw the trailer 4 years ago. It's better than I thought it'd be. Becase it's real life. No cliched happy ending romance. You kept it real. Just like Clerks. But unlike Clerks, don't make a sequel. That ruined it.
@bigbirdtalent Thanks so much, I cherish comments like these. I feel when you make a film as close and as personal to yourself as possible, it becomes universal. I always want people to watch my characters and say "that's me" or "I know someone like that."
I waited for a long time to be able to watch this, so I'm glad it's finally available. The best parts were the interactions between Steven and Jordan.
Okay so what happened with the Blake character and the brother of the girl who accused him of being a perv? I mean......i heard "You shit!" and then "What" and then no real resolution in the conversation. im not good at imagining a story.
@Brikkzabeth I appreciate the feedback, there was actually more to the story in the screenplay, but due to shooting complications we had to rewrite a lot of that subplot. You live, you learn!
Finally watched this film and really enjoyed it. (Fan of Steven Crowder on Redeye.) It's a kind of Brothers Crowder do a Brothers McMullen meets Diner film. An honest , well written, funny film. Liked the Charlie Sheen-hookers-in-the-closet mention, Harrison Ford peck implants jab, Danny 98/Blake 2, and so much more. The acting is pretty decent. Best are Jordan, Steven and Julian. The Gougers soundtrack great. Needed closure on the Blake, Haley, Andrew subplot. Subtle good values inserted :)
@GoblinJumperCables That really means a lot to me, I strive for realism and character development above all things. Do you have any friends who are like these Characters?
Great job! Though I wish it had a little less Steven Crowder nude & half nude scenes, like 0.
I would have suggested to Blake, "Why not rub your eye for an hour and pretend you got in a fight?"
My only criticism is I wish you shot a scene closing the Blake, Haley & Andrew story plotline. I was a bit surprised Andrew was at the New Years party and didn't have a problem with Blake.
@LM1viola lol glad someone else saw that too. It shows though I love my veggies way too much lol. I don't have kids so my only excuse is my family knows Mike and Phil personally bc my aunt owned a Christian book store in Chicago, and before they were really popular in like 93 they used to go to christian stores and try to sell their movies there. My aunt saw the promise in it. She got us hooked from the1st movie, she gave it to us and we loved them ever since lol. They're even on my ipod. :P
@meghankathleen222 No relation! Big Ideas was the name of a short film I made previously about two guys trying to make a movie... It eventually became the name of our production company.
Congratulations! It's evident that the movie was done very carefully, professionally as dealing with universal feelings and criticizing local issues. I confess that, although I don't share your political views, I really enjoyed the movie. It's entertaining and yet reflexive, and, most importantly, it's honest. I liked everything: the plot, the esthetics, the soundtrack. It's just a really good movie, in my opinion. Definitely recomending to my friends. Keep it up, you've got talent! :D
Great job! Really enjoyed the film! Hope you have much success with it. An added bonus was how you threw in some conservative truths/values. It was a nice change from cringing thru hollywood films while they always try to brainwash.
@ImNotCrazystudios Thanks so much! I'm never really concerned with pushing a message with my films, but I do let me beliefs show through in the same flippant ways Hollywood filmmakers do. I just don't believe the same wacko things they do.
@amycee818 I was thinking of posting a flash player to the site with some of the music... but mostly everything is by my friend's band "The Gougers." Unfortunately they have disbanded, but their music is awesome!
Over all I enjoyed it. Felt like a ton of effort was put into it.
One little critique though. The opening diner conversation felt rather Tarantino wannabe. The way the movie opened up with no music and cut straight to friends eaiting at a diner and having a regular conversation. It probably would've helped to shake it up a little to make it feel a bit different. But other than that, well done.
@imagineerboi Funny, we're actually not big fans of Quentin Tarantino. The opening scene was actually a tribute to one of our favorite Barry Levinson films "Diner." You should check it out, it's awesome! Not to mention it came out about 20 years earlier than anything by Tarantino. Of course, Woody Allen, Ed Burns, Robert Altman and John Cassavetes were all big influences on the film as well. Thanks for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
@JordanCrowderFilms My best guess would have to be that it stems from the stress of relationships, how they start and end without warning at times and the pain it causes. Am I close? =)
"it's a very liberating experience going to the bathroom without your clothes on..." hahaha...I'm not convinced Steven was actually taking a crap. need to work on those acting skills..(kidding!) haha
I enjoyed it! Thanks for making it accessible to everyone!
Great film so far, but I have to ask you who mixed your audio? I hope this isn't out on DVD yet, as there are LOTS of audio issues (sound too quiet, LOTS of hiss etc). Just thought you ought to know these problems exist.
@JordanCrowderFilms Cool - I knew the "way" to download this from YouTube years ago :-). I just want to share with close friends and family - I'm not into spreading stuff worldwide, and tbh I couldn't face all the time/effort/bandwidth to do so haha!
Don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan and am super stoked on your videos whenever they come out, but I am 10 minutes into this and have been forcing myself to watch for the last 6. It feels unnatural. Like you guys are reading off a sheet. Again, I am definitely a fan, but you guys are not ready for this sort of film making, and I honestly feel you would have a much more significant impact (not to mention the viral factor) by putting the same time and effort into a feature length documentary.
@JordanCrowderFilms I'm not a "pirate", but there may be a way to download this... if I found it, would you be okay with that? My brother has a clunky old G4 eMac and YouTube stutters like mad - VLC is his only choice for movies...
@JordanCrowderFilms Just finished! Great job! I could tell you all trying really hard on this and it payed off. I think this is the first film ever where I actually wanted to watch the credits. Worst part: Sound was muffled and a little too quiet and wasn't synced at parts. Best Part: the music was great and matched the mood throughout the entire movie. but still, once again, it was a little muffled at parts as stated earlier. All and all, great job and I hope to see another short film soon!
@moccamex Haha, Haley was manipulative little b... well, you know. My favorite part was getting to hang out with my friends in Montreal, the comradery (is that a word) was a lot of fun. We'll all remember those crazy shooting days!
@JordanCrowderFilms Cool! lol sounds like fun!!! ^-^ (i wish i had the amazingnessness u have with making films lol but i think i'm more of a screenplay writer)
@JordanCrowderFilms Actually, I was commenting on what I had seen. But after finishing it, I thought it was great! There was not a moment that I wasn't interested. It was a good story line. I thought that "Blake" was such funny ass! Having seen other flicks you came out with, I have to say, that your acting was fantastic in this movie, I think it's your best yet.
