  • amazing!

  • @MasoudNajafie, this is a Hindustani composition my friend! From the great Hindustani empire that included India AND Afghanistan! :)

  • I have heard it from Ustad Sarahang too. is this afghani compose or indian?

  • Jagjit singh made ghazal singing public and look simple. He solely bears credit of popularizing ghazal and classic singing.

    I love his enchanting voice

  • Stupendous!!!

  • Amazing Jagjitji should sing classical more often.

  • jagjit has heritage of classical singing....he changed his way from classical to gazals in his early life..

  • it is jagjit singh only...one of the rare songs that he performed in such heavy classical

  • This song was performed in royal ablert hall or something like that in london, it is an old song when he was quite young,....

  • doesnt sound like him, if he can sing classical so well why doesnt he do it more often, he will get at least one more admire in the form of me.

  • @drnavinsingh

He does. Perhaps, you have only listened to his ghazals and songs, which he has deliberately made simpler to appeal to the massess. Listen to his bhajans, for example. You will see his command on the classical form of singing.

The thing is, like other ghazal singers, he does not like to show off his singing. There is a thing called subtlety, and he is a master of that. The other thing is, if you listen to his ghazals closely, the classical training is blended in them.

  • will look out for the album. Dont get me wrong, I am not saying he cant do it, its the 1st time we have heard him with this much classical, and its normal to be curious. Also the gamak voice sounds diff from Jagjit-jis. Would be good to hear him live with classical music.

  • @bethells86 : You should have been at the LIVE concert, which an Album has been released called "LIVE". Yes! You're right he did amaze all of us in the concert. He lit the concert with his Dabari Raag and you should have the seen the crowd and their reaction. There was a recording going on at the time ... If i am not mistaken, there should be the recording for that "LIVE" concert somewhere. Use your charm and find it. And if you do ... Please give me a copy too. The proof is in the Pudding!

  • I wonder if an accompanist is doing the gamaks? Excuse me its just that I have never heard him sing classical to this level and he never does this much gamak in any of his songs I have heard, even when there is scope.

  • listen to jagjit singh's cd called: different stroke

  • its jagjit cant u make out the voice, rather than being so technical.

  • this is 100% jagjit singh

  • of course it is Jagjit singh only!!

  • one of the very few singers who never got out of tune. simply amazing

  • you people always have conception that jagjit singh can sing low and mild pitched songs, but dude he is a genius in hindustani classical music....which requires singing at every scale

  • this is no Jagjeet sing. He is no a classical singer.

  • hahaha it is jagjit singh bro you cant believe it huh??

  • the Sardar with the beard and turban is Jagjit? Why he changed?

    Love this raag, though!

  • Is this Jagjit Singh? I don't think so.

  • it is jagjit singh. i have da CD at home. same raag darbari..

  • My... it has Jagjit written all over it!!

  • God bless!

  • mashala , deer kha

  • amazing

  • wow

  • wah wahh. very niceeeee

  • Well rendition of darbari by Ustad Nusrat is terrific, but I prefer the one by Jasraj and Mishra brothers.

  • Jagjit Singh is the king of Ghazal

  • This bhajan is about Sultan-ul-Auliya Hazrat Ghareeb Nawaz Moinuddin Ajmeri, who's mouseleum is situated in Ajmer Shareef, India. Great effort!!!

  • this is not a bhajan my friend its a bandish in raag darbari

  • visit this site for your favourite raags/ragas.

sikhphilosophy dot net under Kirtan with english sub-titles.

  • although i must say JAGJIT is crazy good, also have a listen to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khans raag darbari if your into this raag.

  • If you want to listen to the very best in rag darbari. Don't listen to Nusrat, listen to Ustad Amir Khan, Ustad Faiyaaz Khan, Ustad Nazakat Ali & Salamat Ali Khan, Pandit Bhim Sen Joshi, Pandit Jasraj.

  • Some jokers have given me a -4 rating for my post. The fact is (and go ahead and ask any learned musician) when it comes to Rag dari and pure classical khayal singing all these singers are superior to NFAK. I forgot to add Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Parveen Sultana, Kishori Amonkar and many others who sing Khayals.

  • what you are saying is not true originally he is not a classical singer. if you really wanna talk about khayal and stuff listen to ustad rashid khan and ustad amir khan sahib.

  • Are you replying to my post or to omairhasan's, because you are re-iterating what is in my post

  • im replying to you. you are talking shit my friend

  • OK, having established that, first I am not your friend. I know that jagjit is not a classical singer and my comment had nothing to do with jagjit. I commented that if one wants to hear a gharanedar composition like Nazare karam in Darbari, one should listen to singers who sing Khayal for living. I listed some names of Khayal Singers, (I can easily add 25 more and there will be some who will be left out). So, what is your point.

  • if you want to hear the KING OF GHAZAL....you have to listen to MEHDI HASAN,,,,even Jagjit Singh rates him higher than himself.

let me know what you think

  • Singers are humble enough to rate elders higher than themselves. For me Jagjit Singh Sahib is way ahead than others. Others are good in their ways but Jagjit Singh Sahib's a notch ahead.
