Why is it that Americans know so little about the greatest supercar project ever?
VECTOR was a milestone when the W2 was launched in the late 70s! There was no F 40 around, no 959 or Diablo. It was the very first supercar to crack the 200mph barrier. The VECTOR defined a new league of cars: the supercar: ultra fast, ultra high tech.
I know all the VECTOR owners and they all love their cars.

J.F. is the perfect audi supercar guy, the R8 would be just right for him as a supercar, it works it makes sense and its built by very sensible people. but look at even lambo especially in the 80's! even brand new showroom car didn't work sometimes, the financing came from drug cartels in south america and Europe, and management was changed a bunch of times.
Vector is stuck in time with their WX8. I'd say Koenigsegg is the greatest supercar boutique company. The man alleged that the company has a functional cam less engine, thats something BMW failed to accomplish. Alex is just holding a bias.
Its amazing to me why Vector is such a legend in USA. They set off to try and make a Lamborghini Diablo copy for the american market. Even used Lambo engines for a while until they failed to pay for them. They sold what... 10 cars and died in a hailstorm of scandals. Only in USA do they call these homebuilt kit-cars "supercars"
But then this seems to be the trend in US "supercars" Saleen S7, Mosler, SSC Aero, Lotus... I mean... Hennessey Venom GT, are all steel tubular chassis as seen in racecars since the 60s with huge engines and race interiors. Every single piece of engineering picked out of other, already exsisting, cars.
As for GT40 being american... It was just like the modern Ford GT, another European job with an american engine. Why is it so hard for ameircans to admit they dont DO supercars and never did.
Lamborghini builds elite and exclusive cars available to the select few with the means to buy one. AND, if you want one, you can totally get one (provided it isn't a special edition). None of the nonsense of making just enough cars to be classified as a production vehicle. They work and are reliable (since the Germans took ownership) and have kept the spirit of original Lamborghinis though the years. I in yviteou, provide to me a legitimate argument why Lamborghini doesn't deserve this title.
Lamborghini is THE ultimate supercar company. This is asserted by it's very history, when Ferruccio Lamborghini, after being insulted by Enzo Ferrari himself, decided he would build his own cars which would provide a better overall experience. Today, Lamborghinis are flamboyant, outrageous, pointless, and absolutely incredible. They are not meant to be faster than Ferraris (yet are an ever persistent thorn in their side), but to be a car for the driving enthusiast, not the racing counterpart.
OMG. Why is it that people who don't own Volkswagens assume that they break down all the time. they are the most reliable car's ever. never had any problems. if you aren't a fucking idiot who never does any servicing they can last way past 300.000kms

Yes, it was an awesome supercar, IMHO it looks awesome today, ageless, which is one characteristic that DEFINES a super car.. Thanks guys.. To Vector's credit, the low sales figure is a plus to being the ultimate supercar, so is the ultimate high output v8. However everything else points to this car is total shit. So I am going with, not the ultimate supercar company. I will say Pagani IS the best, those are the sexiest cars on the road!

ok, seriously, i've never commented on road testament before, and usually i don't have a problem with it like most people seem to. However, this episode is almost unwatchable, it took 8 min to actually go anywhere with JF interrupting alex before he could even talk. Why not let alex at least talk and then refute him? so horribly annoying.
Zero entertainment value. You Alex was all over the place and didn’t even come to a real conclusion on his own opinion. He needs to go. He has managed to screw up several episodes with his scattered thoughts and ranting. The Road Testament is a good ideal with the right people, but it’s so hit or miss I don’t even know why I watch.

The W-2 was nicknamed the "Mule" and was marketed against the Countach at the time. The W8 was nicknamed the Avtech and featured in the film Rising Sun with Wesley snipes. Ultimately Vector was a failure, your arguments are as appropriate for Drug funded Delorean and production shortage plagued Bricklin, both of which actually put cars on the road, or even Saleen Super Cars which is actually a functional supercar builder. Your arguments are all null and void. You failed to prove your point.
first thing i think of when i hear the words "supercar" is, performance. Vector simply doesn't have any. in order to perform well you have to at least be able to perform at all. So how is this a great company!? Simple answer, its not. for the kind of money that they're asking for, you could go to a real supercar company like Gemballa, and have something truly AMAZING!! from now on when i poop, I'm going to refer to it as "taking a Vector". lol

The Ford GT & Viper are both modern supercars and cars Id like to own. An 85 Testarossa without powersteering is not, but that doesnt mean its not a supercar, nor the fucked up Lambo Miura of the 70s

BUT VECTOR did make some of the BEST Supercars ever. I mean the W8 ... still futuristic today, and then the WX3, HOLY SHIT BADASS. Those were literally out of this world. The facts that supercars are unpractical, unreliable and nonsense, was the downside of them, not the criteria.
Was Vector a supercar company? Yes, definitely. Were they the best? Definitely not. A supercar has to redefine the driving physics - one or the other way.
Supercars were: Porsche 959, Ferrari F40, Lamborghini Diabolo - arguably the Jaguar XJ220 [was planned as a supercar - but then stripped down, to a racecar in sportscar suit]. Nowadays its the Veyron!

Not bad. Wasn't sure what to expect when I first started watching the vid, but was pleased. My personal criteria for supercars are: Needs a tune up every week. Even if you don't drive it. Looks like it is from outer space. Vector seems to fit that. Would never buy it though.
Alex, the only thing I took from your explanation of Vector being the worlds greatest super car company, is that it was impressive to see a 6.0l twin turbo v8 making 600hp and weighing in just over 3k lbs.....

The Vector Looks cool but thats it. It isn't fast or even runs, according to this and therefore has no performance stats or any evidence of it being a super car what so ever! In order for it to be qualified as a super car it needs to be able to do 200 MPH or faster, and be able to do it more than once with out crashing or blowing up! If the Vector ran I would have one over a Contach, because even though the look pretty much the same, the Vector doesn't have pop up head lights. ALEX YOU FAIL!

first thing i think of when i hear the words "supercar" is, performance. Vector simply doesn't have any. in order to perform well you have to at least be able to perform at all. So how is this a great company!? Simple answer, its not. for the kind of money that they're asking for, you could go to a real supercar company like Gemballa, and have something truly AMAZING!! from now on when i poop, I'm going to refer to it as "taking a Vector". lol

@conlyeviper maybe you have never seen a super car prior to the mid 90s, because they were all inconsistent unreliable rockets that worked half the time. if anything the retarded disfunctionality is the only thing that makes Vector an old school supercar. The Ford GT & Viper are both modern supercars and cars Id like to own. An 85 Testarossa without powersteering is not, but that doesnt mean its not a supercar, nor the fucked up Lambo Miura of the 70s

Criteria for a super car company:
1. Make less than 250 units per year
2. Be nearly undrivable, but when it is, it is more of a laugh to drive than anything else.
3. Have at least one test driver with one of the most badass names in history (example: Valentino Balboni, Lamborghini test driver)

I'm not sure if they are the greatest company EVER, because they didn't get so far, especially since the M12 flopped. Damn it looked good though.
BUT VECTOR did make some of the BEST Supercars ever. I mean the W8 ... still futuristic today, and then the WX3, HOLY SHIT BADASS. Those were literally out of this world. Forgotten cars, and they don't deserve that. I wanna see the W8 kick some ass of the cars of today though. You know it can do it.

This is so far-fetched.
The facts that supercars are unpractical, unreliable and nonsense, was the downside of them, not the criteria.
Was Vector a supercar company? Yes, definitely. Were they the best? Definitely not. A supercar has to redefine the driving physics - one or the other way.
Supercars were: Porsche 959, Ferrari F40, Lamborghini Diabolo - arguably the Jaguar XJ220 [was planned as a supercar - but then stripped down, to a racecar in sportscar suit]. Nowadays its the Veyron!

Not bad. Wasn't sure what to expect when I first started watching the vid, but was pleased. My personal criteria for supercars are: Needs a tune up every week. Even if you don't drive it. Looks like it is from outer space. Vector seems to fit that. Would never buy it though.

The Vector Looks cool but thats it. It isn't fast or even runs, according to this and therefore has no performance stats or any evidence of it being a super car what so ever! In order for it to be qualified as a super car it needs to be able to do 200 MPH or faster, and be able to do it more than once with out crashing or blowing up! If the Vector ran I would have one over a Contach, because even though the look pretty much the same, the Vector doesn't have pop up head lights. ALEX YOU FAIL!
