@ChiangKaiShekX t you said "what has tibet got to do with Generalissimo Chiang Kai Shek, the man who did his job ,fighting off invaders, communists and traitors, lol it's that thug mao who invaded tibet and turkestan, if you praise rabiya kadiya and dala lama i dont see any reason for you to critisize chiang,u obviously is a brainwashed prick"
tibet has nothing to do with kai-shek - i was just referring to china's current attempt to make tibet a vassel state (and I hate the dala lama too)
Interesting note: Jiang Jieshi firmly believed that Tibet and Xinjiang were part of the Republic of China. The Warlords who ruled these two territories were loyal to Jiang Jieshi.
TO THIS DAY the legitimacy of the CCP to "rule" China is the CCP claim that it was the power that "reunified" China.
This is why the CCP will never allow an "independent" Tibet or Xinjiang nor Taiwan as if those became independent the claim to legitimacy to rule by the CCP is because the CCP "reunified" China and "secured China's former territories" would be gone and their claim to rule would no longer exist.
The sooner the "free tibet" idiots realize this the sooner they'll "get it".
@lukebccb they understand it fine- they just dont want to be ruled by china. taiwan did it- i'm sure in a few decades china will see ttibet as a waste of time and leave them alone
Plus having the barbaric murderous, mass-raping japanese invaders ejected from China, the CCP proceeded to militarily move into all of China including places that had been lost during the chaotic years following the 1911 revolution.... places like Xinjiang and Tibet..... something Chiang and the KMT had never been able to do.
On the other side, Mao and the CCP survived the murderous japanese invasion of China and moved into the areas of the former warlords that were destroyed by the mass murderer japanese invaders and they faced off against a Chiang and KMT that had been greatly weakened by the genocidal japanese invaders and had grown extremely corrupt during the war years.
Chiang never ruled "China". He secured power over most of the Yangtze Valley and other parts of China but Chiang never had the military power to take out the warlords and bring KMT rule over all of China. Plus Chiang ruled at the inopportune time of japan's decision to ravage, rape, loot, and commit genocide against China.
@lukebccb "ruling" is aan ambiguious term. as the documentary stated (props, it was BBC level quality- minus the accent of course).
he helped OVERTHROW the then present emperor/king. then went about damage control - he didn't have time to rule anytthing became he was stomping out hte commies and the japs.
succeeded in expelling the japs (damn impressive since they invaded beijing) but then got screwed by mao and had to abort mission and go to taiwan
Actually, a lot of US history textbooks (high school and college) actually promote Mao Zedong as the good guy. Only like 2 paragraphs are devoted to Chiang Kaishek and Sun Yatsen. Mao Zedong and his struggles to own America and make poisonous toothpaste and toys, get like 30 pages [/sarcasm].. but you all get my point.
That's a huge over-simplication of the events in 1927, You get a D+
Furthermore, he didn't fight for Japan, he went to a military academy in Japan.
You completely ignored the warlords he fought against, the Xi'an incident, and you just brushed over the 22 major battles of the second world war fought by Chiang.
You're conclusion at the end is ridiculous, and quite close to what the CCP has published about him, which is propaganda.
@RogerwilcoFoxtrot They should get an F for using propaganda sources and bias. If the teacher gave them an A, they should be fired too.
Their precious Mao Zedong is anti-American *shock* There was so much propaganda against the US in the 50s-70s. Today, the Chinese still dislike the US. Look how the US begs at the feet of China and China doesn't give a crap. Sorry, but thats the truth.
Mao himself claimed that a total of 700,000 people were executed during the years 1949–53. In virtually every village for public execution", the number of deaths range between 2 million and 5 million. In addition, at least 1.5 million people, perhaps as many as 4 to 6 million, were sent to "reform through labour" camps where many perished.
Chiang Kai-Shek ruled and fought with good intension, he did not kill people without reason unlike the commies, who killed people to try to keep their power.
@coffee107 Good intention my food, he as well as almost all rulers was also trying to keep his power and try to recover Mainland China. Taiwan was much better before the KMT arrived, after there was martial law and no freedom.
@VladimirMalakhov BULLSHIT, the Taiwanese fought for the Japanese, they were the enemy of China & the United States. Their prosperity was due to the invasions & atrocities they were committing in China. We, the USA, firebombed dozens of Jap cities to the ground, and we nuked Hiroshima & Nagasaki. Truth is, we should have bombed Taiwan off the map as well, but we didn't because Chiang Kai Shek vowed to liberate Taiwan. The KMT saved the Taiwanese from complete annihilation.
TedMcCarron is absolutely right. She sounds like she is in high school. All they taught us when I was that age in a public high school was what a miserable country the US was, and how the Third World, China or Russia were the only morally legitimate people. Teachers should be deported.
What the hell is this crap?! Was the girl who made this video brainwashed by some Commie teacher? This video wopuld have passed the censors of Communist China. It was Mao, not Chiang, who was the biggest mass murderer in world history. He and his Commies murdered 70 million people, far more than Hitler! Chiang tried to stop this.
I agree that the negativity concerning Chiang Kai-Shek is mostly due to Communist propaganda, but why bother to compare Mao and Hitler? Anyone who's googled:
One Third of the Holocaust
knows that most of what we "know" about Adolf is nothing more than wartime propaganda told by the Marxists. In truth, despite being attacked from all sides by the capitalist-communists alliance, he fought what's probably the most civilized war in history.
@tedmccarron No mate China, duing the 1930s was practically ruled by 3 families, Chiangs the soongs and the Kungs. It was a an era of warlords, corruption, betrayal and butuchery for those who do not conform to their ideals. In fact the communists were trying to consolidate a united front with the KMT against the onslaught of the Japanese. I suggest you read a little on this -strling seagraves and edgar snow, it would be a good begining in order to have a rational discussion on China
@thevisamaster China did have all those problems in the 1930s, but they were absolutly nothing compared to the horrors of living under Mao's Communism. Edgar Snow was very chummy with the Commies and wrote a book "Red Star Over China" which helped the Communist cause immensly. But it left out the horrors. Mao haad people buried alive in mass pits. He starved to death about 38 million Chinese in order to get atom bombs. Read "Mao: The Untold Story" by Jung Chang for the real story.
@tedmccarron "The real story" may never be told in our lifetme, or in lifetimes for centuries to come. Jung Chang's or Snow's or Sung Chingling's accounts differ not in historical facts but of historical interpretations. In those trying times of China's history, it is impossible to pinpoint which camp, "in the name of the greater good" created the most upheaval. I could never tell you who was the ultimate monster but I know that Chiang was never a hero.
@thevisamaster thevisamaster, if you are American, China will own the US!! lmao!!!! The Nationalists were more friendly to the Americans than the Communists were to the fellow Soviets comrades.
"those who do not conform to their ideals"~ same thing on the mainland today. Some Americans think that China was horrible in the 30s, they forget about modern China under Communist rule... or they are in denial. China is as corrupt and dysfunctional today and in the 30s.
@ntwrkr1011 Even democracy can be corrupt. Everything you read is pretty much propaganda. Chiang Kai Shek was a true hero, despite being a dictator. YOU need to read up on history more, and I suggest sources that are not tarnished by Communist propaganda. Chiang fought restlessly against the Japanese. The Coms did NOTHING. That's truth for you. Also, if it werent for Chiang and the KMT, Taiwan wouldnt even be democratic today. It's brainwashed people like you who suppress a real hero.
I agree with you Chiang Kai-shek is a murderer but don't agree with the later. Firstly, Chiang is not corrupted, the problem is that he is indifferent to those loyal to him being corrupted. For someone who united China in 1929 and destroy the warlords coalitions out of nothing is anything but a loser. That said, Chiang didn't massacre nanjing (although he did kill alot of suspects communists throughout China) and he didn't order 2.28 in Taiwan only the white Terror afterward.
@ntwrkr1011 of course he did. commies were his enemy there were a lot of communists on taiwan and in shanghai. him trying destroying communism was a good thing. sure its murder to other communists but it was a victory for chiang. but his problems go much deeper than that. dismissing him as a muderer is to simplistic. he neglected too many of his own people and was unaware or ignored corruption in his army and gov. he was still a hero as taiwin is his legacy of economic and democratic success.
