Albert Camus c'etait un écrivain algerien exceptionnel. (algerien, oui, quoique les francais veuillent se l'atribuer en disant qu'il etati francais pour etre né dans un endroit par eux conqueté.)

Era un escritor argelino excepcional. (argelino, aunque los franceses se lo quieran atribuir diciendo que era francés por haber nacido en la Argelia por ellos conquistada)

(si c'est tout en anglais, personne ne demande de subtitres dans d'autres langues, mais, ¡il y a trop d'anglais deja!)

Sartre ? Mais l'être et le néant n'a rien d'intéressant à dire. Sartre ? Celui qui a applaudi les khmers rouges ?

Camus est mille fois plus intéressant que Sartre, l'Homme révolté est plus intéressant que toute l'oeuvre de Sartre.

Par ailleurs, dans son oeuvre, Camus a plutôt bien compris la problématique du nihilisme.

Je viens de lire les possédés et j'en reste abassourdie. Je ne sais pas si je dois aimer ce livre ou le détester tellement il m'a sonnée. Dostoievski nous mènent dans des contrées de l'âme étouffantes mais avec un talent si extrème qu'on ne peut qu'y sombrer avec ses personnages. Je ne le remrecie pas.

A response to Sindy and 9000Harp: I just finished reading The Plague today--a beautiful, flawlessly written novel about human suffering and compassion. Sindy, I would agree with 9000Harp that you should give this book a try. Camus is very, very different from Sarte et al. as he possesses an unyielding optimism about humanity, even in the worst/most horrifying of circumstances. As Camus would agree, no matter how bad it gets for man, he still has an opportunity to see the glass half full.

@Beingmeansliberty Haha, tu dois être un adepte de la pensée sartrienne pour dire ça. Camus était un génie. Ses théories sur l'homme sont les plus crédibles, à mon avis. Chacun croit ce qu'il pense être le plus crédible. Dénigrer les autres et les attaquer est une preuve de peur à l'égard de la véracité potentielle des allégations de son interlocuteur. Démontres ce que tu crois être la meilleure réponse à notre existence et nous en débattrons. Tel est le but de commenter.

@KevenR40 Bien sûr que je suis un sartrien! Camus, c'est pas la philosophie de l'absurde, c'est l'absurde de la philosophie. Ce n'est pas lui qui a pondu l'Etre et le néant, il en était totalement incapable. Quand on commence un de ses livres par "Il n'y a qu'un problème philosophique vraiment sérieux: c'est le suicide" c'est qu'on n'a rien compris à la philosophie. Et puis c'est Sartre qui a gagné philosophiquement parlant, pas Camus.
