Ladies and gents that caption did an amazing job! I fly frequently from NYC to FL and and that crosswind landing was extremly hardto pull off. But its also the camera angle as well. If anyone has played on Flight simmulatorX youll see what I'm talking about, If you replicate a crosswind thats tough and try to land given the speed and height, youll see what I'm talking about.
He did an S-Approach, why? Stop at 0:48, you can see another plane just taking off, meaning the crew of the Delta 737 did the S-Approach to avoid going around because of the other aircraft taking off.
thats nothing... was on a flight with stong cross wind and the guy landed at an angle on 1 wheel and broght it in striagt on both wheels, which turned out to one of the smoothest landings. He must have been a sail plane afficando
Expressway visual 31. It has to be a summertime saturday I would guess if they are up and down 31./ PANYNJ closes one runway on Saturdays in the summer for construction. I love flying that approach when the winds are good because it is one of the few times in a part 121 jet these days you get to do go stick and rudder all the way.
LaGuardia was landing and departing runway 31 that day, They normaly dont do that unless winds exceed 15 knots, so think about it? No ILS, Long island visual, and cross wind at 20 with gusts at 30? I wouldnt be able to do that behind any metal, I give strong props to the crew of that flight.
Well I doubt it would have flipped but it is a great piece of work on behalf of that crew. Looks like cross winds there and your right 31 L is not a cakewalk. Nice job crew and nice video also.
Thats runway 31 at LaGuardia. That runway doesnt have an ILS to automatically guide the plane in so the pilot for the most part has to land it manually
this is consider as a normal landing @LGA

bumpy yet excellent crosswind landing

that was ugly

That was rather impressive, crabbing is hard enough on a straight approach.

he should have kicked the crab out...those tires got shaved off some
TwinBeech18 3 years ago
He did stress the gear a bit.
I think the 737 can land in a sideslip. Is the gear high enoungh? The classic has to kick the crab out, but it has partially castoring bogeys anyway.
Did this guy have an emergency? Did he land heavy?
