I'll give him some credit, but there's a couple of things that need to be done differently, both for safety and for better results. First, the safety. If you are going to choke out a friend, they should raise their hand. The arm will drop when he goes out, so you dont hold it too long. Second, your other arm should go behind his head, so you can get more leverage. Look up Rear Naked Choke here on youtube. There's plenty of instruction. I even have a few in my favs towards the end of my fav list.
