  • can you use your keyboard for this :D?

  • @xXxNoctisxXx8 Computer keyboard btw.

  • check out the song i made with reason 4.0 youtube.com/watch?v=7grofCZQVIM

thumbs up if you like it! thanks!

  • wow snare independants on a keyboard, fucking woo... shit

  • SLICK!

  • <------jealous.

  • what keyboard does anybody recomend as a midi controler with faders nd knobs built in at under 800

  • any chance of the patch or rex for this???

  • thTA AN OLD ASS IPOD haha i want one of those! haha

  • Uhm, I have a Yamaha DTXpress, and it sounds pretty good for it's age after a lot of tuning, but with a MIDI cable, can I do the same as with this keyboard? Or doesn't it support drumkits or somethin, please reply, i wanna start recording, but not spending lots of money without knowing what Im doing

  • @sonicrushfan1 If it has MIDI out, then you can use it as a controller. You would need a MIDI interface (which you may already have).

  • this sounds nice with the vuvuzelas add on

  • @horstizzle Haha, vuvuzela, the most annoying thing on the World Championship football XD

  • @sonicrushfan1 someone needs to make a vuvuzela refill. If I had one, I'd sample it :)

  • @PeffTV i don't know why but i found an old one in my house, it have a lower pitch than the world cup ones, but it's still cool :P

  • fat break at the end. wish he had continued :)

  • He kills it. Sounds sick

  • craaaaazeeee jam:) 5 thumbs

  • hear the drummer get wicked

  • thas cool stuff .!!!

  • this is slappin

  • Pretty Fresh

  • GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • fett..........

  • do u need a soundcard for reason 4.0

  • computers come with soundcards....you know this right?

  • @LumpyHippo They do come :D but with a standard one ..

  • the actual quality will be the same in the data, he just may not hear the true quality through his output.

  • @BADNEWSWESDOE yeah

  • @bonsuer13

    loooooooooool!

  • @bonsuer13 You need a better one if you wanna have quality and for example Reason Drum Kits 2.0 what he use's(comes in 16/24 bits) will eat your PC if you don't have Ram and of course nr.1 a good Audio Card

  • don't mark it as spam :D

else other guys cant read this epic question :D

  • very nice , brilliant sound, check my stuff out i also use propellerhead reason 4.0

  • thumbs up man

  • Amazing !!

  • ok..that's nice....

can I make reason play odd-time signatures like 7/4...13/4....5/8....? can it line up odd meters and play them in sequence?

not everyone wants to be a hip hop star.....

  • Yep. At least you can in 4. Don't know about earlier versions.

  • Its new in the 4 i think, at least the transport thing in the sequencer is new.

  • thanx for the infor...appreciated

  • shit..he killed that....

  • Can anyone please tell me what type of MIDI he is using and how much it cost to get a good MIDI like that.......................

  • looks like a korg 49 key but i think they discontiued them go look at the akai mpk 49 for 399 though

  • that is a korg kontrol 49

  • Download a program called asio4all if your worried about midi timing

  • eh it was ok i guess haha need alos n lots of practice

  • protools is wayyyy over-rated. not needed.

  • in a way you are right , but u got to get a lot of plugins to beat the eq /comp section that is standard with pro tools or logic if u use cubase orso

  • I figured as much, I believe that the only reason people flocked to Pro-Tools because of the music industry's so-called standard that one should be savvy in Pro-Tools, so it's said, I don't know.

  • pretty much every singe song/tune released today has been through pro-tools at some point. do not underestimate how good that software is.

  • that just makes it "popular"...thats all. still not necessary.

  • Very impressive!

  • u need reason 4 i got it 100 bucks

  • Questions for those who have got this refill,

    What are HH like?

    Are they multi variable?

I'm hoping they have at least around 7 conditions eg:

    Closed - 2/3 closed - 1/3 closed - half open - 1/3 open - 2/3 open - open

  • Tweeeeeeaaaakin! Nah, shits super dope. I like that drum kit too.

  • wonderful, seriously, that is some amazing skills

  • can you do that with a Bontempi PM683 keyboard?, because it doesn't work.

  • dis dude is so focused right now lol

  • awesome ! OO

  • amen is always groovy :)

  • very impressive!

  • great timing - impressive

  • Nice

  • cool

  • Wow, That was AWESOME! So what I'm understanding is, you have to get a small midi keyboard in order to practice drumming, on a keyboard I mean.

  • you can choose your comp keyboard too

  • does it matter what computer u use it on?

  • does what matter ?

  • yeaaah :D cool man :D

  • super

  • Nice beats, sounds live. Keep it up bro.

  • whats this moaning about difficulty, if it sounds good then it is good...geez

  • Live nothing can beat the real instruments, but in the studio who really gives a fuck. As long as they sound the same. Doesn't matter at all. He's not trying to come off as a real drummer here but a producer and there's nothing wrong with that.

  • ahhh nice

i cant do this on my axiom 25 =[

  • gosh damn, thats that hot fire.

  • yeah man - keep em comin - nice vid and skills check me out sometime

  • wow! that sounds very cool! :D

I'm waiting to have my axiom 61 on hands just to try something like that :)

Greetings from Argentina, sorry for my english :)

    Good luck! ^^

  • damn that shit sounds sweeeeeeeeeeeetah

  • Nube question: I'm a skilled guitarist and want to create my own music on PC. I have Reason 4.0, Sonar Producer a powerful PC, two guitars, a POD XT Live and that's about it. What would you all reccomend in terms of MIDI? Thanks...

  • I'd get a midi cable to connect a cheap m-audio with some slider controls on it and you'd be done

  • no. get a m-audio axiom 25 49 or 61

    size is up to you.

    it connects via usb

  • what's with all the bitching, people? This is a skill that takes practice. In the absence of a real drum kit, what's a guy to do? Think outside the box. Why compare this to a "real" drummer who is restricted to 4 limbs - the possibilities with 10 fingers are so much more. Try playing a drum kit, then try using a keyboard - in MY opinion, this is MUCH harder to do well. I take my hat off to Josh.

To all the bitchers, drop the conservative, draconian attitude. (please) :)

  • Actually using ten fingers to play with makes it easier to play drums! Why would having more limbs to play with make it harder? So in reality playing a real drumset is harder than playing beats on a keyboard. There is not much independence when playing a beats on a keyboard either making it easier. You also have to think about endurance when you drum. It's almost a workout! Are you going to break a sweat while playing the beats on a keyboard?? no!

  • And about there being more possibilities, there aren't! You don't need more than for limbs to play drums because the only reason you would need more limbs is to be able to hit more drums at the same time which isn't necessary!

  • being a musician hating on one instrument for emulating the other is pointless....I've seen people play dope ass live shows with real drumkits loaded on keyboards...and sound a lot better than actual drummers...the fact that he doesn't play the drums is only ammo for a bunch of cliche die hards to call it unauthentic

  • I don't think you understand my argument! I wasn't saying that it is unauthentic or that someone couldn't playing something on the keyboard that sounded really good. My point was that it is harder to play a real drum set than it is to play a keyboard drum set. So just because you saw someone play a keyboard better than a drummer playing a drum set just means that keyboardist was better at his instrument then the drummer. Do keyboardist ever have to tune their drums??? NO! and tuning is a bitch.

  • There are soo many more things that go into actual drums that there is no way you could actually believe plying drums on a keyboard is harder.

  • I think everyone can agree that becoming good at anything musical takes a lot of time and effort, regardless of the medium.

  • Yes yes this is true!

I am sure it did take time to learn how to play drums on the piano that well. And i know it takes a lot of time to learn to play piano well. The thing is he is not really playing piano! He is playing ON a piano. If you consider that playing a piano would you say someone that is playing on a midi drum pad is playing piano because it is basically the same thing. The only thing that i am trying to compare is the difficulty of playing drums on a keyboard and playing a real set

  • @neoverseTV there will be NOTHING that ever exists that makes an instant musician; and science forbid this ever happens, it will be the ruination of anything that is of quality.

Some say that so called "techno" music is like that; but even that requires a huge degree of skill, knowledge, artistry and commitment of time.

  • Ok as a drummer AND producer. I know it does not take "skill" to use fingers to do this. I do it too. He used the same and slightly different sounds with boths hands for rolls , easy...

  • Gosh you know what?, you are right! I checked out some of your videos and it's pretty clear to me that neither one of us is very talented.

  • As it is, he is playing more in time on that keyboard than the video you have of someone playing drums.

In a studio, you don't want it to sound bad..

It can sound terrible in a live performance and people will love it, but using drums in a recorded production is a matter of precision and subtlety

  • talented!

  • nice work josh! you are using the sampler with real drums mapped?

  • actually, it's a couple of samplers in a combinator patch made by peff. it's his vintage rdk refill

  • looks like charlie from always sunny

  • Just don't use Reason! :D Use Cubase with some nice VST's like Battery for drumming or use Logic Studio 8 Pro since you have a Mac like me ;)

  • Yes, because clearly, this was done in Something other than reason.

  • i got ur refill kitt

  • Hey I have VintageRDK but dont know which patch to use how do you do that?

  • LOL, if I tried this, my head would explode.

  • Can you please tell me the Exact patch name for this, I have the RDK refill kit.

  • Simply amazing.

  • wow you're really skilled

  • If you dont mind me asking, what preset did you use?

  • it's a peff patch from his excellent rdk vintage refill kit

  • Where could I find this patch? I'm also using propellerhead reason. Could you share some tips and advice in music production? i.e. mastering and stuff like that? Would much apreciate it. Thank you.

  • U pretty much just killed every drummer I've ever work with over the past 30 years DAAAMMMMMMM Bro.

  • they must all have been pretty crappy then :)

  • I havn't known many drummers in my lifetime. Definately havn't met anybody who would call themselves professional. But I do remember one guy from high school days who performed on stage at morning assembly once and he was better than this...

  • What each hand play ? I mean what hand do U usually use to control snare, kick, hi hat, cymbals etc

I'm having a little bit of trouble to play in a cordenate way =S

    Thx for your attemtion mate

  • just by looking the video i would guess the left hand does kick & snare, and right hand hihat variations & cymbals :)

  • nice. nothing bad to say bout that

  • I prefer to use a trigger pad...you get more of a feel!

  • MPD24

  • How's the kick triggered, is there a pedal?

  • erm... with one of the keys on the keyboard...?

however, i've used a sustain pedal to control the kick before, by going into the "Remote override edit mode" and selecting the sustain...

it's easier to just use the keyboard though

  • yea any midi keyboard would do, you jus need the software.

  • wicked

  • insane man....which patch is that? a preset?

  • hey! what kind of keyboard is that?!

  • Korg kontrol49

  • whoa! $399.00... never mind. thanks though.

  • almost any midi keyboard will do by the way to do this kind of stuff

  • DO you want me to make a tutorial on it! I can if you want!!!! Because i Use it! Please reply!

  • yes pls

  • kk!!!

  • i seriously love Drums

  • Simply amazing.

  • holy shit. if u close your eyes sounds like a fucken concert. those drums sound so real

  • Nice! With what reason device is this..? Redrum??

  • no ... it's a combi patch L-)

  • NNXT

  • Wow thats Crazy!!!! Teach ME!!! What type of keyboard is that?

  • it's a korg, kontrol 49. I might put a video showing the basic steps to drumming on a keyboard in the future.

  • lol u got in to reggaeton in that one lmao

right when you messd up lol

    nice playing

  • please cuz that was amazing

  • it´s the korg micro kontrol or the kontrol 49 midi keyboard!!!

  • What main program is better to control reason man??...cubase etc??

  • ProTools or Nuendo are the class A programs for editing.

  • um k so you're clearly just sampling beats, and then cueing them, not impressive

  • yes, that is exactly what we were doing.

  • well at least you're honest haha

  • You know I was being sarcastic right?

  • As opposed to what? Don't be a hater.

  • ua fra' stai arrvutannn

  • no doubt he's a drummer !!!!

  • Hehe, nope, Don't play real drums at all.

  • youre not even the guy who posted this video. who are you and why are you pretending to be this guy!?

  • hehe, I'm the guy in the video playing the drums.

  • then why aren't you the one who uploaded it? hmm? hmm, i ask??

  • Jesus, really? did it ever occur to you that the guy who recorded it might have uploaded it? Perhaps I will upload a video of me keyboard drumming my youtube channel. perhaps that will settle it ;)

  • hey man. you dont have to call me Jesus. nexus will do.

  • hehe, nice one.
