  • I reckon he does a good job......for a white guy ) Powerful voice,70's moves. I'm white and married a black girl. This song is us all over. Too funny )

  • I guess the lead singer didn't want the attention on her by adding that goofy white guy.

  • @rascal211 Makes you wonder how they got together. Her body language tells it all. Great song though.

  • Lose the guy?? He is doing some fantastic singing!! He actually added some energy to this performance...Sometimes after a group has disbanded, it can be hard to pull the crew back together...I'm glad Shirley Goodman and Jesus Alvarez (I believe that is his name) performed together here...THANKS FOR THE POST!! Thank you Shirley! Thank you Jesus!

  • ils sont marrants tous les deux,j adore!

  • How good is this? Shirley kept some funky company in 1975. This is one of many truly outstanding soul/dance classics from that year. I feel singularly privileged to have been alive at that time.

  • damn awesome 70's

  • GREAT ... timeless !!!

  • male singer = Kenny Jeremiah who joined with Shirley & Co. They are not British, they're American; Shirley from New Orleans & Kenny from Philadelphia (I think?). Kenny was lead singer for the Soul Survivors before this recording. He also performed with, amongst others, Janis Joplin, Eric Clapton, Cream and Strawberry Alarm Clock. Shirley was famous for three much earlier hits, together with the late Leonard Lee: I'm Gone (1952) I Feel Good (1955) and Let the Good Times Roll (1956)

  • This song is SO deliciously campy!! LOVE IT! '70s FTW! :-D

  • Who is that guy? I bet he would have made for an outstanding blues singer!

  • utyy

  • HOW THE HELL can that people standing seated down instead of shaking, dancing & moving???? I realy don't know!!!

  • @accuruneide ...They're Brits, what do you expect!

  • @jim02026 I didn't know that they're Brits, and to be honest I have to say that I discover right now that brits means british jejajeja I always used "british" to indicate people from UK... but I know, they are particular, very particular person some a cold kind ... and, just for curiosity, what do you think about italians?? and, mostly: how do you call people from Italy??? Tell me, I'm very courios now :-) ciao from Roma -ITALY

  • @accuruneide I call them Italians.

  • @accuruneide hahaha Okay, please, STOP here. As italian I can understand.... .-(

  • @jim02026 You're right Brits can't dance. I got mojo baby, i'm brazilian.

  • @jim02026 Aren't they Germans? This looks like Musikladen.

  • no gimmicks.just pure talent n passion

  • Who's the guy????

  • wHO IS THE DUDE???? THA BROTHA GOT SOUL!!!!!

  • @migamilan I guess thats her company. Lol

    Thanks for uploading.

  • I want everyone to dance too this as they burn my lifeless corpse

  • Still sounds groovy. The clothes are the style back then. I have this on 8 track and on a ringtone on my Iphone. :) Gotta get up and dance now!

  • In a million years and for a million dollars I could have never guess these were the people who made this song. It is a shame they didn't make a whole lot more though. I guess they were not marketable. Not that I don't understand why. lol. I'm from Brooklyn, and I can tell you EVERYBODY knew this song. Even my Mum and Dad.

  • So cool to see Freddy Mercury before he joined Queen. Hehehe...

  • @PtolemyJones Ha ha ha so gay. 4.00o volts in the tail. wow! ahhhhaha!

  • Comment removed

  • @PtolemyJones queen was formed in 71

  • @nicksousa8 thank you oh great master of the obvious.

  • @PtolemyJones that is not Freddy Mercury

  • @1earthshine Wow, you are a complete and total moron.

  • @PtolemyJones you argue with everyone .........very strange..

  • @1earthshine everyone? As in, everyone in the whole wide world? Or just everyone that argues with me?

  • @1earthshine told you.

  • @PtolemyJones RUDE!!!!

  • @brewill23 I'd rather be rude then f'n stupid. Of course it's not Freddy Mercury dumb ass, that's why it was funny. Does your babysitter know yer on the computer after your bed time?

  • @PtolemyJones ya, your IQ is what 13? Think that makes you stupid & RUDE!

  • @brewill23 132, 3 degrees above the median. And that assumes a median of 100, where as the average America IQ is now 90. That said, even if I had a two digit IQ, I would have known that someone calling this guy Freddie mercury, followed by "hehehe..." was making a joke.

  • @PtolemyJones ahhh you must be an angry man with a little dick!

  • @brewill23 Right on both counts, but it doesn't make you any less of an embarrassment to the entire species. Clearly there are not enough quarters on the planet for you to buy enough clues for you, Bizarro-Einstein.

  • @PtolemyJones as I said this is NOT Freddy Mercury........ask anyone stupid.....

  • @PtolemyJones Really gay.

  • The "Company" part of Shirley Goodman is getting gangsta with the singing and dancing! Made sure he had his moment to shine in the performance and in the song...

  • Dude has some serious pipes!

And i would suspect that Cocaine had alot to do for the quirky moves....but at least he has moves...unlike myself...LOL

  • O PS NÃO TEM VERGONHA NA CARA!

  • That guy has a crackin' voice (that means 'amazing' to anyone not from the UK..lol)

  • @cresceremuoventesi His name is Kenny Jeremiah. He has a great voice huh? He's a local legend in my area, he was a member of a few really good bands. One had a top ten hit in the states. My bro and I snowblow his driveway after blizzards so I feel like I've been brushed with greatness, LOL. I didn't realize what a big deal he was until we checked out some of his videos. He is still cool as ice.

  • @hunclemike Thanks for the reply! x

  • Haha...I'm surprised by the lady's sweet voice and the man's screaming...LOL....it's horrible but catching to listen to at the same time!xD

  • das gehört zu meiner Discozeit, schade dass die Tonqualität so schlecht ist.

    Greetings from Austria

  • That lady is Shirley Goodman, the female half of Shirley & Lee who recorded "Let The Good Times Roll" for Aladdin in 1956. She still had her squeaky voice in 1975.

  • @deyoungaza

Became a bit fatter after her top hit in 1956, I guess

  • @deyoungaza I thought it had to be Shirley from Shirley and Lee. Good info. I love Shirley and Lee and I love this song also.

  • That lady is look like Oprah ! :)

  • great song...but the Guy dances like a moron.

  • lovely! :D

  • Love it! Go mama go!

    Fantastic!!!!!

  • check the dudes eyes........how high is he?big ole black alien pupils!cocaines a hell of a drug!

  • Those were the days. Free and simple

  • sings like a black guy....dances like a white dude in high heels.

  • The guy who sang on the record, Jesus Alvarez, was portly, with a beard, in the video that used to be on YouTube, and could really move!!

  • @thrash5409

you can tell the lady's egotistical just by their group name Shirley & company. she doesnt even want him to have his own name so she names the other part of the act "company"

and notice that just as he gets going she cuts him off? She doesnt want him getting too much of the limelight on stage

  • @Piglatinsuperstar You're not stopping this show, monkey.

  • shame on the both of you --no good singing or wiggling around

  • Comment removed

  • @1ladymari : I think that's the cocaine talking ...

  • Is that Jim Carrey who needs to go to the toilet desperately?

  • shame music isn't like this any more.

  • Thats not the guy who cut the vocals on the track, His name was Jesus Alvarez ''now called Jason Alvarez. Yes they are lip Syncing. He is now a pastor in NJ. I played in his gospel church band for 6 years and toured with the band. He never lost his ability to hit those notes and he was a monster bass and keyboard player.

  • @beauty8116

She's not lip synching. He is.

  • @behdoc Your right, i just listened again and her vocals are flat in the beginning. Thanks

  • miami soul½

  • i wish i was alive during the 70's.

  • too much...a blast from the 70s...yeah shame shame shame.......shame on you, if you cant dance too.......yeah

  • Hey he CAN dance too

  • That guy isnt gay..............

  • The that dude is a cross between Freddie Mercury, & Cliff Richard.

  • A funny gig. The guy's dancing cracks me up.

This is lip-sync'd and although Shirley was the singer on the recording I don't think that the guy who's dancing with her is the male voice you hear. There's other videos here that have the guy who sang lead on it, and he was on the record album.

This tune has a great groove and I like the vocals. I bet Prince could do a great version of it.
