I remember seeing it from behind on the day, the way he rotated his shoulder on the doosra made it look a lot worse than it was. Darrel Hair was right to no ball him. Hair has been used as a scapegoat.
He was called for chucking as that was the rule at the time. The rule doesnt cover the position of the arm, but the movement of the arm. At the point that the hand passes the shoulder the arm (now days) is allowed to move upto 15 degrees. Until 200X the rule was 0 degrees by sight. When the rule moved to 15 degrees Murali bowled bowls over 20 deg & SRL asked for rule changed to 25 degs, but were denied by ICC panel that reviewed the request.

The guy is a chucker, it is a disgrace that his action was allowed, probably the biggest thing in cricket since Kerry Packer. He *CAN* bowl with that cast on, but he simply does NOT bowl like that normally. Some of these comments are just ridiculous - lets look at the facts - at the time (before the rule was changed) you could not bend your elbow as much as Murali sometimes did so thats why he was called. At the time umpires called a no ball for such deliveries rather than reporting to icc or whoever after the match (reporting after the match is a much better rule imo) so regardless of whether the rules were good or not at the time Hair umpired 100% correctly to the rules - Fact.

While the Australian team will very rarely play any teams that are not England, NZ, India, Pakistan etc. While I see that Murali got more wickets, he had the chance to get wickets easier, by more oftenly playing second-rate teams then Australia did.

The problem with Murali is that he keeps the arm bent throughout the delivery action for, say four or five balls of an over while he straightens it out for one or two of his "special" balls (like he does here). So any tests are meaningless, just like his records. I, for one, will be glad to see the back of him after this WC.

He was called for chucking as that was the rule at the time. The rule doesnt cover the position of the arm, but the movement of the arm. At the point that the hand passes the shoulder the arm (now days) is allowed to move upto 15 degrees. Until 200X the rule was 0 degrees by sight. When the rule moved to 15 degrees Murali bowled bowls over 20 deg & SRL asked for rule changed to 25 degs, but were denied by ICC panel that reviewed the request.

It certainly looks like he chucks.. but thats because we only see people with more common joins bowling.

The guy is a chucker, it is a disgrace that his action was allowed, probably the biggest thing in cricket since Kerry Packer. He *CAN* bowl with that cast on, but he simply does NOT bowl like that normally. Some of these comments are just ridiculous - lets look at the facts - at the time (before the rule was changed) you could not bend your elbow as much as Murali sometimes did so thats why he was called. At the time umpires called a no ball for such deliveries rather than reporting to icc or whoever after the match (reporting after the match is a much better rule imo) so regardless of whether the rules were good or not at the time Hair umpired 100% correctly to the rules - Fact.

While the Australian team will very rarely play any teams that are not England, NZ, India, Pakistan etc. While I see that Murali got more wickets, he had the chance to get wickets easier, by more oftenly playing second-rate teams then Australia did.

I like Murali as a cricket and as a bowler. He's a great ambassador for the game, it's not his fault he can't straighten his arm. Sri Lanka continue to produce unorthodox and exciting bowlers and the game is better for it.

Not disrespecting Murali or anything, but to describe Mr Hair as you have is bad. Besides, he got paid to do a job (high paying at that) that he loved, travelling the world watching marvellous cricketers for free. He had the best seat in the world (other than playing). The problem with Murali is that he keeps the arm bent throughout the delivery action for, say four or five balls of an over while he straightens it out for one or two of his "special" balls (like he does here). So any tests are meaningless, just like his records. I, for one, will be glad to see the back of him after this WC.

Yes Murali played the lesser nation's more though if u take his stats from BAN & ZIM away he still averages 24.73 better than Warnes 25.73 though some may argue that leg spins a harder art & Warne played on pitches suited for the likes of Huges Mcdermott McGrath Fleming Gillespe Reiffel Kasprowicz Lee Johnsten S Clarke etc, and murali played on dust bowls tho Murali didn't have those bowlers helping him at the other end. Warne was a leg spinner Murali is an offspinner, give up comparing..

I agree that theres been too much hype and possible media sensationalism about it and he has received to much discrimination.
