that's quite mature. As much as i hate Osama, I don't favor capital punishment for anyone. It's all emotional and not irrational at all as is many of Tulane's antics. And yes I still go to Tulane, I can say whatever I want.
“To victory one must not add provocation. To desecrate the cadaver or the memory of Bin Laden is to revive him. To cry one’s joy in the streets of our cities is to ape the turbaned barbarians who danced the night of Sept. 11. It is to tell them the ghastly competition continues between them and us.”
“I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”
y'all are way to dramatic and think too much. Let those who want to party celebrate... and those of you who dont want to, you dont need to. But you also don't need to complain about it. Although I do have to admit the dude in the beginning looks like a real f***wad
Why are there so many negative comments? I started drinking as soon as I heard the news! Osama wanted y'all to never be able to drink again! I drank not only to celebrate, but also to say "in your blown-up face" to that POS. Also, saying that "celebrating Osama's death is disgusting" is akin to saying "Americans deserved 9/11" in my book. Thank God he's dead. Also I was there and people were behaving fine.. I sang because I love America and I was happy. Y'all should reassess your priorities. USA
Ashamed to say that I went to this school. There is a difference between celebrating an American achievement from just looking for an excuse to drink. That was not celebration, that was students making themselves out to be fools.
I am "the kid from the beginning" and I just want to say that my comment had nothing to do with the moral virtue of killing Osama bin Ladin. My comment was specifically about the absurdity of the arrival of the police (the Boot sidewalk was not any more crowded than on a typical Thursday or Friday). It is absurd for those students to be threatened arrest for celebrating what is inevitably the end of one of the most controversial military occupations in our history. Why shouldn't they celebrate?
And certartainly some students were acting distastefully, but not the majority of the people who were there. Of course the video focuses on the 'stronger personalities' that are in the crowd, but having the police arrive and threaten the students was really quite bizzare, it was simply a group of students who were celebrating around the front of the bar, some of who were, as woud be expected, a little rowdy.
Don't kid yourself, people are not upset because college kids are just "partying." I know I can't speak for everybody, but I'm upset because of my school's (Tulane's) overzealous celebration of the killing of another human being, albeit a horrible and evil one. I find it repulsive to see my fellow students of a fine educational institution taking shots out of a handle in commemoration of the killing of a man.
@stricknacco Um yea I know a person who's dad was killed in 9/11 so unless you know that pain you have NO RIGHT to speak on who should celebrate and who shouldn't.
@lloydistosexy I understand that that must have been a horrible time for your friend, but in what way does that strip me of my right to give my opinion? These people in the video are proud to be Americans, as am I for the the reason that, in America, everybody has the right to speak up and be heard. I have this right just as much as you or your friend. If we don't agree, that's fine; people don't always agree in life. But please don't tell me I don't have the right to give my two cents.
And regardless of whether you are in ROTC or not, we all go to Tulane and this video is a stupid and shameful way to represent us. We look like fucking LSU and *that* is the lowest anyone goes. Congratulations.
Did he say....."They think we cannot gather when America kills Obama"? Slip of the tongue....quick recovery kid! I am proud of them....they know the words to our National Anthem......I am impressed! Jay Leno cannot put them on his Jay Walking segment!
this whole situation confuses the fuck out of me... im glad osama's gone, revenge, closure, etc. but why are we such bloodthirsty fucks? and why dont these fucking douche bags enlist if theyre so fucking excited about our war on terror? entire fraternities should enlist. they would get, like, so much pussy bro.
@unclejunglebass So apparently, according to this dumbass, you have to enlist if your opposed to terrorist organizations...if your so glad he gone too, that must mean you have enlisted, right?, but yet, I highly doubt it as if you were, you wouldnt be complainnig about people celebrating his death and wouldnt be posting on youtube
@unclejunglebass chill out dude... it's Tulane, they'll take any excuse to party and yell. can't wait to go there next year!
