Yeah, but a song like this is all about being 15, just as was the film! I was about 15 when I first saw American Grafitti, and it and the songs (especially this one) really struck a chord.

Great song. I'm thinking the composers were influenced by Brian Wilson. Note the keyboard riff, and then compare with the opening guitar riff in "Don't hurt my little sister" from "The Beach Boys Today!"
