  • made in korea?

PS/michael kelly all guitars in korea or not?

  • Ugly guitar man

    But nice cover

  • @StanleyNrt

    Thx bro!

  • @cryptonet007 Any idea why the guitar in your video has an inlay at the 24th fret but pictures at the MK site and on Amazon do not show the inlay at the 24th fret?

  • @ereddings

Wow, I never realized that the pics you seen dont have the inlay on the 24th. I mulled over buying this guitar for about a month before i ordered it though musicians friend. I guess once I recieved it, I never had to look at pics again. It must be the artist that made the pic didnt know there was one there. Those must be drawings in those ads.

Thats my guess. Now im curious if other MKPPTI models have it.

Im gonna look at other vids with the same axe.

    Steve

  • @cryptonet007

I have been in contact with the manufacturer regarding the inlay at the 24th fret. They said the original models from the factory have the inlay. These are circa 2008 guitars. The current models do not have the 24th fret inlay. I have seen some NAMM guitars that have them, but I do not know which year. So, any new MKPP guitars do not have the 24th inlay. Unfortunate, because I think the inlay at the 24th fret is awesome.

  • @ereddings

Ya, thats unfortunate they decided to get rid of it. I think its a very unique design.

Since youve brought it to my attention, I love it even more.

    HaHa!

24th fret inlay........Get outta here. Its awesome

    Thx for the comments.

  • Sweet...keep watching this...was thinking of changing out my EMG 81/85 for a more blues/rock sound. Considered Gibson 57s or Semour Duncan Pearly gate and 59 for the neck. Any thoughts how this would be on the Michael Kelly Patrio Premium? Gibsons sounded great but really pricey....both sound great for classic blues and rock but difficult to decide. All thoughts or suggestions are welcomed. Thanks. :)

  • @1927Norma

    Thank you.

It might be a good decision to go with passives in this guitar.

They have put rockfields in some models and they sound great.

Somehow I feel the emg's dont fit the body wood quite right.

I mean that this axe lacks personality soundwise in some aspects

I have the pearly gates plus and reverse polarity 59 in my fender spalted (see my channel for demonstration)

They have great character but its a whole different axe.

You'll never know until you experiment!

    Steve

  • @cryptonet007 Thanks for your input. I think the 81/85 is for more heavy metal sounds...tone monsters of the 50 and 60s didn't have the maple top..but mahogony body only...just not a metal fan....lacks soulsful sounds but I am older so what can I say...thank you for your feedback. :)

  • @cryptonet007 Wow I checked out your other videos...you are an really great lead guitarist...inspiration...I can do lead but nothing like that.....Thanks for recommendation...I agree I guess its the woodware makes a huge difference...saw your collection of guitars in the back drop...hope you are playing in a band...you are easily good enough...I have a question regarding the Schecter solo-6 custom..I am afraid to upgrade my pups will be so costly I might as well purchase new.

  • @cryptonet007 I purchased the MIchael Kelly Patriot Premium for $459..if I upgrade Gibson 57 it is about $150 per pick up not counting installing fee...I am going to (I am afraid) outprice the guitar but I looked at the Schecter solo-6 custom and listened to it and thought it sounds really close to the blue/rock sounds I want...do you have any views on the Schecters in general? Thanks and I know you are busy and in no hurry for your response but wanted your input...Thanks. :)

  • @1927Norma

If it makes you feel better, I paid about $755.00 dollars for mine after taxes from gcentr new. You got an even better steal than I did. You get those gibson pups in there and its the same cost minus the install. Probably 100 bucks more for install, but the problem is the pots. You might have to change them from 500k to 250k ohms or vice versa. Im not sure about that.

The Schecter I have has the same pups as the Patriot, 81/85 active. Sounds different dont it.

    I love that axe!

  • @cryptonet007 Sorry but I am a big dunce about pots...don't smoke it anymore..LOL anyway that is not pickups right??? Largely an acoustic player so I never messed with upgrades for electrics..but can play ok...so please tell my very small brain what pots are...no rush...need time to save up the money anyway. But I have heard that word before and not sure what "pots" are. Of course I could go the guitar store and sound dumb there too. :)

  • I only wished if we could have a better audio................. enjoyed it. Good job sir.

  • @sobank

    Thank you

Im just a lazy amateur. Maybe someday I'll try to learn pro tools or whatever it is and do a digital stereo production with all the bells and whistles, but my efforts will still pay the same=0.

    Thanks for watching.

  • Have an off the wall question. I am trying to identify a particular lead guitar in a YouTube video of Johnny Cash. The song is Ghost Riders in the Sky Live at Montreal...the lead guitarist to the right of JC is playing a guitar (red) that has the body perhaps of a Strat of Chavel but I don't think it's either. Since you are a really good lead are you familiar with this guitar. Sorry for the question. But it's bugging me and I have looked everwhere to identify it. Any help by any is cool.

  • @Clayton19651

You know I looked at that axe and I cant place the headstock shape. I cant even recognize the tremolo hes got on it. Maybe a kahler. I think its a custom axe he had made for himself. Guitarists who are good enough to perform with johnny cash on stage have been around the block 35-40 years and they normally get a custom guitar made.

Sorry I cant tell for sure.

    Steve

  • @cryptonet007 Thank you for looking. :)

  • Awesome...i have the same guitar in blood red and I got from Amazon for $458...I thought they made a mistake but they sent me the right guitar....after that they were all listed at $699......sounds great...very p lease...I am more classical style and trythmn but it sounds great.....made in Korea and they make great instrument reasonable. This guy very good lead.....

  • @Clayton19651

Thats great, glad to hear it!

  • @Clayton19651 By the way you put some time and practice into this video and you should be proud. Great job.

  • epiccc!!!!

  • @B1aKWoLf

    thank you!

  • can u give me a review on that great guitar?

  • what tuning are you in???

  • @anthonyring123

Hello, Im tuned to standard 440.

    Late..

  • Not that hard, also, you were off beat for a little beat.

  • dude that was awesome man !! props to u

  • @typicalman929

Thank you!!!!! A little funk never hurt anyone!!!!!

    Steve

  • i got the same type of guitar. just mines gray instead of yellow. i love the sound and the neck of it alot.

  • @tindothan Hows the clean sound on your guitar? does it sustain?

  • its pretty clean especially with the E.M.G pickups on it. it was worth the buy.

  • Ive only played this guitar about ten times. This vid and another one makes twice and doing fingering exersizes unplugged on the couch. When it comes to emg's I'm really not thinking of certain clean sounds to play it. I have other guitars for those types of sounds. Its a great guitar in beauty and quality! I love it alot!

  • thanks

  • always very nice work... the new axe is pretty cool, much better looking than the black one on the site.

    "a Quin Martin Production"

  • will do

  • cool... i got a sanpera II for xmas for the vypyr 75

  • I have the same but the earlier model wit the Rockfield SWC pick up.I installed some pull up switch to split the humbucker and it's awsome.

Micheal Kelly rules for what you get for your $

  • Cool, I wish i could coil tap these emg's also....

  • @cryptonet007 You can coil tap those EMG'S.They make kits for it.(EMG'S actives with pre-wired switch)

  • @peak199

I looked at emg's website, but there is no coil tap kit for existing 81/85's. They do have a tone type of control that does something similar, but they do make an 81 pickup model that is coil tappable. But then I'd have to buy the whole kit set, pickup and all. It seems the tappable 81 is made differently than the regular ones. peace Steve

  • @cryptonet007 You might be right about that.I actually meant that you can go buy a new set with the switches already pre-wired.But I have talked to 2 people that told me they actually did it themselves. One was on a ESP KH-2 (which I also have),and the other was a schecter hellraiser. They both said it worked fine.Maybe they were bullshitting me.Anyway, good luck! I also Have the same patriot premium in tigers eye.Great guitar for the cash.

  • Very nice! Love the wood on the body. The neck is pretty nice looking as well.

  • Hi my Friend, Wow very beautiful guitar, de luxe, and great choice for the music theme you play in this video...

I love 70' s Music Theme of TV series...I' m fan of American series, Like Starsky & Hutch, Impossible Mission force, Star Trek, ect...but I never seen S.W.A.T on the french TV...

    Good Job my friend...

    Peace.

    Stephane.
