  • Warra game, Warra game. Nuff said!

  • I'm not a Liverpool or Newcastle fan, but this is without doubt, THE most iconic match of the Premier League. Fuck knows what was no #1.

  • @njclondon2009 I don't know what was number 1 but I would put money on it being 3-3 against AC Milan in the Champs league final.

  • What on earth was the keeper doing for Newcastle's third goal? Why did he come charging out like that?!

  • @Chazfazzer - The reason why he came charging out like that was because his name was David James, and he was utter shit!

  • I PLAYED IN THIS GAME NIGGUHS

  • David James - what a shit goalkeeper.

And Stan Collymore should have been the greatest.

  • 2 year in a row yi bastards

  • Best Game of the Decade

  • @generouspeasant I really hope Newcastle do win something.

  • what was up for grabs in this game? The crowd is going nuts ..

  • @MrVinnieeeeeeee

    lol - 3 points

  • I remember this match well. It was sometime in early spring '96. Wonderful game it was, couldn't believe it. I was rooting for Newcaslte though, but I liked Collymore's decisive goal.

  • the way Liverpool nd Newcastle are playing..its gonna happen again..cant wait for that game

  • Liverpool's entire starting 11 were English in this game except Jason McAteer who played for Ireland but was actually born in Liverpool.

  • I'd have this over any Barcelona thousand passing match any day.

  • @Boglet81 That makes no sense, since matches like this only happen every few years.

  • tht was a good match, but a bad video.

  • Fantastic game. 2 legendary teams at their very best. Real end to end football. Liverpool did excellent to score a 4th in the final minute. I'm a Newcastle fan, but Liverpool have always been my 2nd favorite team.

  • i was only 6 this year but liverpool looked in form.. this was when soccer ruled now sucker aint as good as it was before i wish i was an 80s baby :/

  • This is a really great match

  • That is the first PL match I watched in my life here in Bulgaria. I was 13 back then and since that match I became a Liverpool fan and I will be such for life!.

  • That is the first PL match I watched in my life here in Bulgaria. I was 14 back then and since that match I became a Liverpool fan and I will be such for life!.

  • Barnes, Rush, Barnes. Still John barnes- COLLYMORE CLOSING IN ORGASM!!! OHH YESSS

  • Its a real shame Newcastle didn't manage to win a single piece of silverware between 1995-99. They had a quality team in the late nineties, played some incredible football, with some truly exceptional players: Ginola, Shearer, Asprilla, the list goes on... but they were always second to Man United. This is undoubtedly one of the greatest premier league games of all time, but it was also the game that cost Newcastle the title. You can see it etched on Keegan's face. Football...bloody hell.

  • @messination1 i was wondering was this the final??

  • when football was football. I used to watch Stan 'the man' Collymore while he was at Forest. He's the most exciting player I've ever seen. Shame he was more concerned about going dogging with Ulrika.

  • It's amazing to think this, but the players playing in this game would roughly be on an annual salary anywhere between £50,000 and £78,000. Nowdays, due to television rights, sponsorships/advertising, and increase ticket prices top flight player will be making that money weekley. What's scary is that this has happened in the space of 10 - 15 years!

  • @tonicrule Don't forget inflation too mate. A quid yesterday isn't worth as much as a quid tomorrow.

  • look at the state of the pitch 15 years ago

  • the best game ever ... bar none

  • anyone know where to go to download the whole match?

  • I loved it when Liverpool beat them. Loved it.

  • @azapro911 'When you say a thing like that about a man like Stuart Pearce. I WILL LOVE IT.... when we beat them'

    HAHAHA.

  • @azapro911 we lost cause we didnt have any real geordies playin!!!! they dont even have a fuckin tan!

  • Keegan - lmao

  • Some commentators just aren't cut out for commentary

  • my dad is the linesman on the near side

  • Game of the century.

  • lol, 90s keeper strips..

  • NUFC TILL I DIE ,SEASON TICKET HOLDER!!!!! LIVERPOOL FOR RELIGATION !

  • @rossg96 grow up

  • Newcastle and Liverpool best clubs

  • I am from Turkey, i was 15 year-old as they played. But why do I still remember goal-scorers and minutes? :) An amazing game...

  • Ahhh...... the memories....

Some of the most brilliant piece of footballing skills: Asprilla nutmegging Ruddock, Ferdinand pass with with outside of his right foot to release Ginola, Asprilla's stunning curling shot around James with outside of right foot.

And some of the most shocking, comical defending ever, FOUR men go to mark McManaman for Fowler's second goal. And AGAIN! four men standing around looking at Rush at the end, forgetting about Collymore.

  • 3:04

That is the greatest goalkeeper top I have ever seen in my life.

  • @drummerdickens yeh they made the best goalkeepers tops in 90's

  • the 90s was a golden decade of football, it was top-class.

  • i watched this match live at that time!!

  • So much better with Martin Tyler commentary. Famous line! Collymore closing in!

  • Fowler's here in Australia as a marquee player! If he comes to play Sydney FC then I'm gonna go watch him!

    YNWA

  • robbie fowler at his very best, awesome match pity the commentator sounded like he was watching sunday league

  • Comment removed

  • YNWA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Shocking defending for probably all the goals. No wonder why England is so poor at international level...

  • lol dont forget goalkeeping!

FOURTEEN years later, the guy who gave up 3 goals is still the starting goalkeeper for england

  • this won match of the decade

  • The 2 best teams of that year. Manu shoud have never have won the league, shame on u Man U

  • how interesting the commentary is

  • Still gives me chills up to this day

  • This match is 14 years old today, i dont believe it, best Premier League ever

  • i hope liverpool can do this against chelski so that united could win the league

    (yes i am a manc)

  • best game have ever seen. cant believe we had that team (ferdinand, ginola, beardsley, beresford, aspria).

  • Wasnt it the same scoreline a year later ? Im sure of it but cant seem to find the video clip on here.

  • VIduka scored 3 goals???

  • It was April 3rd, not 30th

  • Thank you so much phil!!!! I have been driving myself mad trying to figure out his name! You are the man!

  • Who is the commentator on this clip? It isn't Martin Tyler... I have seen the highlights with him doing the commentating. This is the commentator when it was originally shown in the U.S. in 1996 on what was then known as 'Prime Ticket.' Now known as FoxSportsWest... I want to know the commentator's name, he makes these highlights very very great and emotional!

  • The commentator is Peter Brackley.

  • ricky hatton 4.52. enough said

  • greatest premier league game ... EVER!!!

  • I started watching this and quickly realised I was looking for ANOTHER 4-3 Liverpool/Newcastle game. The one where Liverpool were 3-0 up at half time, then Newcastle equalised in the last few minutes, before Fowler headed the winner in the dying seconds.

  • am i the only one who thinks 90s football was better?

  • No, you're not. :(

  • it was class! mid to late 90's was a great period in the premier league at least. it was much better with no truly defined 'big 4' back then it seemed that more teams could legitimitally challenge for the title.

  • Up until this season I'd definitely agree, but this year it seems a lot more open and there's real belief in some of the teams outside the 'big four' that they can break the monopoly this time around. Chelsea, Man United and Arsenal will more than likely make up the top three, but fourth is going to be a major scrap and I wouldn't be surprised to see another surprise FA Cup winner with all the top teams focusing on the league. Aston Villa and Stoke City would be good bets.

  • @BaldricksInferior waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better players seem to be alot worse nowadays but paid more!

  • @BaldricksInferior yes u areee..loooosser!!!

  • @BaldricksInferior it was in uk maybe..but teams like the last 3-4 years barcelona has, 90s didnt have..You dont enjoy pes like before..Barcelona makes its better ;p

  • @BaldricksInferior no way, because me and plenty others would agree with you. There were far more entertaining games back then, where the away side went for victory even if it was like QPR away to Man U or something. There were far more exciting players like Cantona, Mcmanaman, Le Tissier, Ginola, Beardsley, Kanchelskis... and more great characters in general, some of which were a bit naughty yet funny to go with it... not like the petulent arrogant money takers that dominate the game today!

  • @BaldricksInferior Not at all, I'd agree with ya maybe very early 90s though I wish we could go back to before the Premier League and back to the old division 1 instead.

  • @BaldricksInferior yup you are the only one, congratulations on being so hip

  • @BaldricksInferior well, it was for newcastle ;)

  • @BaldricksInferior it was for Newcastle

  • man u 1 liverpool 4 was no.1

  • no it wasn't. Everton 2-3 Liverpool was number 1. Gary Mac's 46 yard free kick.

  • Best game the prem has seen for me but sounds better with the Martin Tyler commentry - "Kevin Keegan hangs his head, he's devastated". I cried at Anfield that night lol.

  • I love keegan's sunken head after the winner goes in. Such a touchingly honest reaction.

  • what was number 1 in this list?
