  • I want my cheese and onion pasty.

  • I used to think Southern was really naff back then, I watched with envy as my school friends who received Thames got shows like Space 1999, The Avengers and The Six Million Dollar Man but Southern just used to put on alternative things like Out of Town or The Saturday Banana. Ugh.

  • @phyd Maybe, but the Banana had a grrrrreat theme tune that you can't bloody get anywhere!

  • Did you know that Pat Philips (the director) was married to Brian Nissan?

  • @stationhouse77 And did you know that its spelt 'Nissen'! He's not japanese!

  • So refreshing and re-assuring to know that Sarah Kennedy was the same silly half pissed buffoon as she is today!

  • Stupid tart!!

    Not you, her.

  • Trevor with the weather.Cool.

  • day by day was so layed back they has casters on there shoulders

  • lol great to see that again . hard to believe in those days the most important thing to mention at the top of a news programme was sarah's greek holiday

  • Interesting to see they managed to get both South and South East newsdesks into the same studio for the opt!

South East news from Southampton is anything but a recent innovation, then.

  • The South East news came from Dover and as mentioned by Sarah at the end the South East programme was on Fridays

  • Between when were the credis for this news program used?

  • I think that This theme tune and credits were used from about 1978 until Southern's demise in 1981.
