  • Annie you have a beautiful voice. Love you on Magnet and Steele and other Walter Egan hits.

  • @boomerlady

That's very sweet of you to say so. Thanks very much.

    Rock on!

    Annie

  • Annie McLoone is awesome...Love her voice on Magnet and Steel

  • I met John Borger in the late 1960’s, at the residence of who I thought to be, back then, a mutual friend to John & I, Matt Andrea. I was performing folk songs, at age 16, in my VA high school, & anxious to learn more. I did. John taught me a couple of his original tunes. I would name them here, but I won’t. I know he performed at the Childe Herald in D.C., back then. I always thought he was an excellent songwriter, even then.

  • like frapi 125 , i saw the magnet and steel video from walter egan and wondered who you were . would you claim sandy denny as an influence on your singing style ? really remarkable voice !

  • Hello,

My two friends and I did lights and between set movies way back when at emergency. I remember doing them for your band as well as many others. Back then we had a 35mm movie projector, an overhead projector and two banks of homemade spots. We made friends with Chicken who got us in to do our thing each weekend.

  • Does anyone know where Bing is? Last I heard he had a brain tumor. But that was a few years ago. I thought he might show up at the toy show. Does anyone know? I kinda suspect he's still making amazing music on his synthesizers............

  • I was curious about the lady singing backup in Walter Egans Magnet and steel. I did some searching and found it was Annie Mcloone. I went on Youtube to see if there was any other music she was involved in. I found Sageworth and have been watching the video and enjoying the music. I am very impressed with the group but Annies voice has just got me blown away. I don't remember the band ( I am 44 ) but I remember Walters song and I remember even then the womans beautiful voice ! Annie you rock !

  • I was thrilled to see this video. I saw many of your concerts in DC as a teenager and loved the band. I wish there were more videos!!

Do you know what Jack Burkhardt is doing now?

    Thanks for posting it.

  • @psfanyla

Sorry for the late reply. No I'm sorry I don't know where Jack is, except runored to be in London. However I just spoke with John Borger (guitarist with beard) and he is in Massachusetts.

Thanks for the kind words. Walt and I put together a CD of original Sageworth songs from the day. Working on how to make it available to anyone interested. Stay tuned!

  • AAAANNNNNNIIIIIEEEEEEE

How are ya? Unbelievably great to see this. What a hoot. Hope all is well with you. I'm in Newport, RI. I was just wondering about that photo that was taken after the softball game at the end of September when Cambridge Crazys lost to Sageworth 54-1 and you gave us the 1. I remember it was a hell of a good time.

  • Hey Annie - This is great. I was sitting on Copley lawn this am thinking of Walt on the air - WGTB. I will be walking by Sageworth House tomorrow morning and singing this, thinking of you and friends. Thanks for posting this.

  • Hey Annie, I love this song but can't find the music or lyrics anywhere. Do you know where i can get them?

    Claire

  • Hey Cgaydon,

Ya know, you can't find it 'cause it isn't there! This is an unreleased track. I'll see if I can post the lyrics, or something.

In the meantime, thanks to all for the support and kind words.

    Rock on,

    Fast Annie

  • Annie...you look wonderful on Magnet and Steel. You have a great voice!

  • Hey Marialissa--Thank you for the tip for where to hear more of her. I don't know where I have been for the last 30+ years; I guess it's better later than never to be a fan. Again, what an amazing voice!

  • Thanks Annie. You and Walter should be very proud of your musical contributions. Great music! I keep an assortment of favorite music videos on my MySpace page and just had to add this next to Magnet and Steel.

Umm. I keep trying to post this reply, but it won't post. I hope a whole bunch or repetitions don't show up.

  • Annie sings this with a lot of passion, quite different from her smooth harmonies on Walter Egans's records. I wonder if she's still in the biz?

  • I meant her ;)

  • Just stumbled upon this. Excellent song. She has an incredible voice.

  • You can hear he incredible voice on Rob Gril's Rock Sugar.

  • A far cry from The Rude Band huh ?

  • Bingster here. (on keyboards) Can't believe someone posted this video.

  • Hey Bing!

Annie here. I posted it, so there!

  • Annie,

Is that you singing in the Magnet & Steel video and on the record?

  • aeroaero

sorry for the delay in responding.....if you're still there, I'd be happy to answer your question. Yes I'm singing on Magnet and Steel, and appear in the video.

  • Annie,

There is a huge interest into the where abouts of the Live Rock Sugar Clip with you and Rob Grill. Do you know anything about it? It is such an excellent clip of the two of you. That is one song that def should have charted big. I find it so sad when great music is overlooked.

    Marialisa

  • Hi M

My guess is it was removed by Viacom, or some such entity that holds the rights to TV show. Midnight Special or maybe Don Kirshner's Rock Concert. They sweep YouTube periodically and just remove them.

  • Check out Annie on Rob Grill's "Rock Sugar" her voice is supreme. And Rob what could I say the man always delivers.

  • Is the lead guitarist on the Gibson ES225 is Walter? It just doesn't look like him...

I must like protest folk rock because I like this...

  • Hi Skate,

    Yes...that's Walter, in the flesh!

We did some pretty cool 'protest" events/concerts in D.C. One anti-war protest concert was at the Sylvan Theatre, on the grounds of the Washington Monument. The stage front was bordered by a hedge....as high as the stage. During one song, the other lead singer, Jack, suddenly disappeared. He had stepped off the stage and fell into the hedge!

    -Annie

  • How old was Walter? He looks like a teen. Rippin' some "ax," though.

Loved you in M&S. You looked like a goddess. You looked like Sharon Celani who I think is amazing.

Walter looks more like Jake E Lee then he does the Walter in M&S.

That story is funny as HECK! I can just see the monument and Jack being gone and you guys look over and see him in the bushes. He must have had a few that day.

Thanks for the story and info.

    Still laughing...

  • Hi Skate,

Let's see...Walt would be around 21 or so?

Thanks for the compliments. Although I haven't spoken or seen Sharon in some years, I can tell you that not only is/was she a beauty, she was a beautiful spirit. I don't expect that that has ever changed.

  • Hi Annie,

Thank You for replying. I would love to know when your doing gigs in NYC, would you keep me informed?

    Best Marialissa

  • Wow, I am blown away. I am a long time Egan nut and never heard a note from Sageworth. They do sound like the Airplane.

The rhythm guitarist, the bearded player is the guy who was in The Starland Vocal Band.

    You know, Afternoon Delight.

  • Hi Toothbrush,

Just to say, the bearded guy is John Borger. He was not in the Starland Vocal Band. Were you thinking of Bill Danoff?

    -Annie

  • Hi Annie, Yes I was. I was at the gig you did in NY last year. The benefit for the college. Walter invited me. I didn't stick around after the show. That was really dumb cause I so wanted to talk to you.

    How's Monte X ?

BTW your vocals on this Sageworth song are great.

Thanks for putting me right. I thought he was Bill.

  • This song is so relevant I am suprised College radios have not dug it up for their playlists.

  • Hey Marialissa!,

little late in replying, but thanks for the comment about the revelance of this song...surprising, heh?

    -Annie

  • I meant "relevance" -ah course.

  • Hey Annie

I posted something but forgot to reply it to you...duh

    Marialissa

  • I was first introduced to this band at the Berlin Airlift in September of 1970... I remember them rocking the house and reminding me a bunch of The Jefferson Airplane! Wish there was video of that festival out there somewhere!

  • I grew up in DC and I loved this band. I found an mp3 at Walter Egan's site. Any other Sageworth around?

  • Hi Rich,

Late response...sorry for that. We don't have any other Sageworth vids that I know of. We do have additional audio. i will try to more stuff posted, perhaps with a photo slideshow. Rockin' DC!

  • Rich...see my reply elsewhere. It didn't show up as a reply directly to your comment...hope this one does.

    -Annie

  • At 1:10-1:15 Walter Egan kinda reminds me of Jack White.

  • wow great video! it must be prior to Walter forming his own band I presume

  • Protest rock form 70's DC rock band, Sageworth and Drums. Song: "Red, White and Blues", written by Walter Egan and Annie McLoone. Annie, Jack Burkhardt on vocals. Walter, John Borger on gtrs. Ralph Dammann, on bass. Bing McCoy on keys Matt Sheppard on drums.
