  • Such a freat performance.

  • According to "Yo Pecador" a film based on Jose Mojica's life, Mary Garden fell in love with this Mexican tenor, Can someone confirm or deny this

  • Is this one of the recording with Debussy actually playing for her?

  • @MrJustin2782

No, that was 25 years earlier, and can be found on transformingArt's channel. Search: (Rare!) Mary Garden with Claude Debussy at the Piano - Green (1904). Cheers, etc. Doug --

  • @CurzonRoad Awesomeness ;-)

  • What a stunning photo you've posted. Garden certainly knew how to put an art song across to her audience. Thank you for this posting.

  • Splendid

  • Remarkably vivid recording or perhaps more a case of the artist's sounding so alive through the force of her personality and immersion in her performance.

  • If you read her auto bio. besides her talent, Mary had a tremendous passion for the music It's the passion that is the jet fuel for the talent.... Thank you for posting this!

  • Magical. No one sings like this anymore. Beautiful

    singing.

  • You are so right. I have never heard this song sung like this before. She makes time lush and sexy, taking all the time she needs for each word and phrase.

  • Although she was judged primarily a "visual" artist in her time, I'm positive it's her voice, above all, that makes her unique. She cannot really be compared to anyone else. There is something mysteriously expressive in the very timbre of her voice that I'm sure is what Debussy loved in her singing.
