• Ha ha Cor blimey!.. I could have wrote this one to my Ex loool..

  • brilliant

  • more like the beeatles

  • very good song.....just because amy love it i love it too... =]

  • Oh my gosh I loved this singer even I knew he was from Coventry. Wait a minute!!! Is not Terry Hall??!! What?? Noooo!!!!!!!!!!

  • Don't get this video? It's about sex workers. The hotel workers know who they are. They keep secrets for them and steal glimpses and they get tips from the women. Each room scene is a different type of session. Hotel sex workers and Dominatrix workers with their friends, the hotel staff.

  • This doesn't sound like Crowded House.

  • Ha Neil Finn is in the restroom.

  • Barack Obama better would go to fuck his mother.

  • that chick at the piano is a dead-ringer for Amy Lee, anyone else think so?

  • We won't deceive you or tell you the truth.

  • has anybody heard sparky from birkenhead sing this? what a voice

  • Probably their most Lennonian single ...even more than Oasis... yes it's possible !

  • What's he trying to say in this ? Always bugged me. Is the woman's lover a tit or fantastic ? Any answers ?

  • miss Paul Hester...

  • One of the Crowdies best in my book.....Luv em 4eva x

  • this for me is up there with anything the beatles did

  • @7kurisu yes, specially very Lennonish... i was going to post the exact thing!

  • This actually is a great song . xxx Miss u am , You ARE the girl you think you are. xxx

  • I've been introducing my friends in Second Life to Crowded House and they keep asking me 'WHY have I not heard of these people before? This is awesome!'

Just trying to be a musical prophet in the virtual world...

  • I don't get it

  • this is extremely Beatles influenced. It's as if John's really singing here.

  • This can mean so many different things to so many different people but the one thing that remains the same to everyone is it's a great track.

  • Was this video made after Paul's departure mid-tour in Atlanta? The blonde girl in the long leather coat is also in the video for Instinct. Paul also makes an appearance in that video, driving away in the Pontiac. Who's driving the car later as the cowboy rides ontop? Mark?

  • I love this song, because it sounds like such a homeage to the Beatles.

  • Even though this song was a single and is featured on the Greatest Hits compilation, it's still slightly obscure (esp in North America). I hadn't thought of it in years, and am thrilled to have rediscovered it (and to know that there's an awesome video for it)...

  • @zkhandwala sadly, most of Crowded House's song's were obscure in the U.S. even during the '80s when i was a teen. i am just now discovering their music, and loving it all!

  • This vid is so ironic to the whole song...if you think about it.

  • reminds me of Elliott Smith, sorta?

  • This is one of Neil's (and Crowded House's) finest songs and best videos. Thanks for posting.

  • awesome tune x

  • Hey Neil, this John Lennon?! Isn't it? But it's beautifull !

  • @SuperFreddie01 it is very Beatle-esque, to be sure!

  • Amy has such good taste.

    Great song! x

  • I discovered this song when a jukebox played it randomly - i thought it was the beatles, i later found out the writer wanted to see if he could write a song like john lennon?? i think?? anyways i LOVE this song - it sounds very much like the beatles and i love the chorus - listen to this song quite a lot....lovely :-) and a very good job to the writer!! :-) x

  • I could see Amy covering this song :)

  • @Nfinity82 yea..... i guess?

  • Lamo Amy Sent Me Too

  • I like this :)

    Really weird Mark Hart :S

  • Amy sent me here tooooo ahah :)

  • @evaniky91 hahahahaha me too! weeeee

  • I mean, that Amys still developing and trying something new. Thats good, so every album doesnt sound the same. Fallen was great album, The open door was different, more piano, more Amys feelings and completely another atmosphere. And songs like Lithium, Your star or All that Im living for(slow version) were just so amazing. New album will contains more electronic components and It will be tottaly awesom. Iam big fan of Bjork or Portishead, so I just cant wait for new album and Amy on stage.

  • Great song. Thanks Amy- can't wait for your new album. Evanescence rocks!! :)

  • HOWEVER. Who still likes the songs of Amy Lee has the right to continue enjoying it. I have no interest in creating useless discussions or receive comments from angry fans. The world keeps spinning. This definitely does not matter.

  • @telekynetic "without knowing her last work, me first!" it means i DON'T know her last work... :) and i don't wanna create useless discussions as well as you don't.

  • Amy has certainly picked a winner to share with us . The song is very infectious and lingers in your head . She turned me on to the Engineers " One in Seven " too . I will definitely have a listen to anything she digs !

  • Hey this is actually a good song. Thanks Amy!

  • @cjmsja Why Amy Lee?

  • I saw it a few minutes ago on twitter, of course Amy. OMG How much I look forward to the new cd and Amy on stage. We miss you Amy.

  • lol i saw it on amy lees twitter too xD

  • brought by Amy Lee :P

  • @lauralink88 she brought me too haha ... she amazing!!!

  • @lauralink88 exactly lol

  • yeah seen amys twitter as well lol go amy

  • Amy Lee, leader of a movement.

  • amylee sent me here. lol not so bad...

  • twitter => AmyLeeEV => "Not the girl you think you are" by Crowded House- And here I am ! hehe XD

  • nice

  • @telekynetic you became a WATF's fan? no, i'm asking it 'cause you can't say that amy's music is getting bad without knowing her last work, me first! but i bet she's getting much better...please just understand the meaning of the songs and u'll understand amy's lyrics!

  • @fufycasu please NOT HERE as well. I'm an Amy fan.. but really.. fed up with all these arguments about that chicken singing in the we are the failed -.- let's just ignore XD

  • @fufycasu Right On

  • @fufycasu Of course I became a fan of WATF. They are all that remains of the band called Evanescence I used to admire. I am sorry if you've heard the new material from Amy Lee and I have not. But the fact that there are good lyrics on the new album does not mean that the songs are good. One thing does not lead to another. I've seen the videos that Amy Lee has put on Twitter. I bought The Open Door and can say that her music has decreased in quality.

  • @telekynetic There's quite a difference between actually lacking quality and you not liking it.

  • @soto5269 I know. But I still like the music, if its quality had not fallen. Fallen>>> The Open Door>>>> Next.

  • @telekynetic I'm telling you, someone's always going to think different. I did like fallen but IMO, it was pretty mainstream and simple. The Open Door was deeper and full of meaning. i think it was a more risky album. We really need to stop making facts out of our own opinions. When it comes to taste, there's no debate.

  • @soto5269 I totally agree with you, though not wanting to make facts out of it ;)

  • @telekynetic ahahahha ok, i can read just the first sentence of your answer to understand anything! u're all the same..

    Amy go ahead!

btw i totally disagree with you :)

    bye TC

  • @fufycasu Also alienated fans are all alike ...

  • @telekynetic try to re-make your idea of music first. then you can talk about "alienated" fans... i don't dare to say that what i say is absolute...just re-read what you wrote on your first reply, close your eyes and switch your brain ON.

  • sent by amy lee

    and like the song (:

  • amy lee sent me here via twitter too lol

  • Amy Lee sent me here from Twitter!!

  • @EmberflyLayouts Amy Lee sent me too! Yay Amy Lee! And Crowded House of course...

  • @Urmotherrocks me too ;)

  • @TheFanniest hehe Amy Lee just gave this vid a ton of views :)

  • @EmberflyLayouts What Amy Lee has to do with this song?

  • @tracyweaver100 she perscribed it to her fans over twitter, not the first incredible artist/song she has perscribed to me/her fans. (joga-bjork) (orestes- a perfect circle)<-----now 2 of my favorite songs of all time!(teardrop-massive attack) (humming-Porished) (beetoven-moonlight sontana) (tori amos) (smashing pumkins) (nine inch nails) (tool) and many many more :) would not have gotten into music/made music my life without her!

  • My absolute favourite crowded house music video. Fantastic.

  • Does sound like The Beatles definitely but doesn't nybody else think it sounds even more like Elliott Smith ? Maybe it's cos it'sa waltz but it sounds so like a song he'd write i think.

Anyway whoever it sounds like class song.

  • @IglePigleLovesDisco yea i think of eliot more than beatles when i hear it

  • good stuff, btw, if you guys like electro-house, n styles similar to fast foot and dj solovey, check out my channel for some good new music

  • this song sounds a lot like the Beatles, most especially John Lennon! Neil Finn is the greatest!!

  • Almost has that "Free As A Bird" quality about it. The song that John wrote and Paul, George and Ringo help finish with the help of Yoko Ono, years after his death...

  • agreed! ;)

  • This song is so peaceful.

When some tune gets stuck in my head I usually can't focus on anything. Yesterday I had to read 'Macbeth' (boooring) for school and I just remembered everything (which is very difficult for me everytime) having this song in my mind.

Also it helped me to fall asleep. Just put it on and flown away.

Pure class. Long live Crowded House!

  • I can see how it would. It started to put me to sleep listening to it now. One of my all time favorite groups in the 80's. I second that... "Long live Crowded House!"

  • hey

  • Stop your squabbling! the beauty of music is all that matters.Who really gives a f'''k where Neil is from?

He knows how to write a tune

  • Comment removed

  • just to let all the australians out there know... crowded house are a kiwi band...not aussie

  • Wait two Australians, one Kiwi, and American and they first recorded in the US. How are they a Kiwi band?

  • @MercedesO305 , All the songs are written by Neil Finn(the 1 kiwi)...hes the talent of the group WITHOUT DOUBT. at any stage if 1 of those others members were to leave or die* there would be no impact whatsoever of the quality of the sound...even Finn says it himself, NZ is home but Australia is their base.

  • Not all songs were penned by Neil. Hester also wrote some songs, aswell as some being written as a group. The farewell was also in Sydney. My point was that you cannot pin down one nation which they can call home, they are too diverse in nationalities and recording locations to make a call.

  • haha...the AUSTRALIAN farewell was in Sydney @ the Opera house...the REAL farewell was AFTER which was played at Auckland (either Aotea Centre or St James Theatre)which featured his brother Tim also

  • @MercedesO305 : if ACDC lived in the UK...would that make them a UK band?...or an aussie band that bases itself in the UK?...would there ever have been a worldwide success for Crowded house had Neil Finn not been involved....of course not

  • @MercedesO305 typical aussie mentality...everything that bases itself on aussie shores (music, sports, etc) and does well...is AUSTRALIAN...blah...

  • INXS..Michael Hutchence..lived in UK...does that make INXS a UK band?...a band lives of 2 things the lead vocalist and lead guitarist....bass,drum rhythm...anyone off the street can play...thats what CH were..Neil Finn...and 2 guys *off the street*

  • @MercedesO305 recorded in US...thats because they were trying to break the US and european music markets...which is very hard to do for australasian music..and if im to be 100% realistic...they didnt achieve...because if u asked 100 americans who crowded house were, none of them would know...a few would know a couple of songs though, (dont dream its over, better be home soon)

  • One of the most etheral, beautiful little lullaby-like songs I will ever hear.

  • An absolute jewel of a song.

  • Neil Finn is a legend. He always reminds me of Paul McCartney. How's that for a compliment???

  • This just typical undertstated Crowded House talent.

As for the Beatles references, ridiculous. Paul Mc rated Neil Finn as one of the best in his own right.

  • crowded house and squeeze are more like the beatles than oasis. I love this song. love you pam . want to talk to you , miss your voice. xxx next gloria meantime

  • damn why cant they just have a song on here where is crowded house and no ones talking about another band or singer wether a songs being copied, or sounds like another song! it gets annoying! btw this does not sound like the beatles at al, try better than the beatles

  • Just pure genius!!!! soothe my aching soul! the pure simple joy. try to listen and not be at peace. Not happening!

  • I think the only thing similar to the Beatles is great melodies and nice two part harmonies.

    Genuine musicality, in other words.

  • This isn't a COPY of the Beatles imho.

It's a song obviously inspired by the Beatles music. Tell me which Beatles song it was copied from? None is the answer. A lovely song in it's own right

  • *IF* you had to name a band that crowded house was inspired by or is similar too...it would be split enz...simple as that

  • I'd name seven worlds collide in both its forms, or Neil Finn's solo work.

  • What's wrong with copying the Beatles?

The harmonies are fantastic. The song gives me the shivers.

  • Thanks for the video ! :))

    I Love Crowded House !

    ( Beatles are dead , don't compare ! )

  • If you're wondering why this song sounds so Beatlesesque, it was because this song was a delibarate attempt by Niel Finn to write a song in the same style the Beatlesd would; Catchy and slow, steady progression.

  • This song is amazing but sounds exactly like the beatles I actually thought it was the beatles when it came on in the pub's jukebox..

  • Hey anyone else think that jet's sound is very like this?

  • I'm sorry what?

  • I have made my decision. Crowded House is awesome (IMHO), and if you can't leave a positive comment on a music video you don't like, watch something else.

  • This song is on Neil's album Try Whistling This, best song onit

  • Isn't it on Recurring Dream (The Very Best of Crowded House)?

  • This song does not appear on TWT. It's on a CH best of compilation, Recurring Dream.

  • yes, brilliant isn't it

  • perfect song

  • everyone chill about the Beatles-thing :)

"According to the songwriter Neil Finn, the song was written as both his homage to The Beatles and his attempt at writing a song like them."

  • so beatlesesque. A perfect song.

  • This song is sublime...perfection. And they make it sound so easy.

  • Oh yeah this one reminds me of Beatle or Lennon songs..very much so..

  • Absolute gem of a song

  • It's a cross over, it sounds more like a collaboration with lennon rather than Lennon himself. The chorus is indisputable, but you can can still hear finn through the rest.

Definetly one of my all time greatest songs.

  • love this band, and this song. youre right, very lennon esque.

  • This could so be a john lennon track. Amazing at how well neil could write in lennon's style. Take a listen to History Never Repeats. If you can't close your eyes and imagine the beatles singing that song, there's something wrong with you :P

  • its descretionary maybe ya just look

  • This song shounds like John Lennon, not the Beatles and although Crowded House are fantastic they are not better than the Beatles!

  • amo, amo, amo questa canzone, e amo questo video. (:

  • I love the Paul Hester cameos for these final videos. Go Hessie.

  • Elliott Smith owes a lot to these guys.

  • true..I never thought of that!This is a classic..what a voice!

  • So do the Shins

  • This is a fantastic song, and I love the lyrics. The video perfectly captures the mood of the song.

  • stop comparing it to the beatles

neil didn't write it because of the beatles or the reference, he had an old instrument that made the chords at the beginning of the song and wrote it from that, it's on the interview on the farewell to the world DVD

plus they are so much better than the beatles (: no internet hype prior to that comment please, it'll be ignored ♥

  • why not to compare when this song really does sound like some song by the Beatles

  • Beatle-tastic!

  • Long before I ever saw this video I fell asleep listening to this song and dreamt of waltzing through a hotel lobby with someone while everyone else moved around in slow motion. Funny how I essentially dreamt this video at the same time they were conceptualizing it.

  • Speaking as a songwriter/musician...i always thought that crowded house were the unsung beatles of the 1990's...this is a prime example...pure craftmanship

  • First thought when I heard this song--

'Whoa, is this a beatles song I haven't heard?'

they sound so much like them!

    Amazing, I say.

  • That's exactually what I was thinking...not to unusual for one of the great musicians of our generation though...

  • I believe I heard they wrote this song because of the comparisons being made between them and the Beatles. "If they say we sound like em, let's really try to sound like them" kind of thing.

  • written by Neil Finn who was the guitarist and vocalist with Crowded House. Fantastic song!!

  • is the amazing a feeling song:)

  • WHO WROTE THIS SONG!!

  • That would be the genius Neil Finn.

  • NEILL FINN FROM NEW ZEALAND crowded house?

  • Yes this is Crowded House.

  • "The bathroom mirror makes you look tall"

The whole song is Beatles but that line is 100% Lennon.

  • One of my favourite songs ever, not just by the divine Crowded House but by anyone. So beautiful, so moving, so - perfect!!! :)

  • Can't not think of John Lennon. So happy to hear this sound again from someone who's still with us. What a beautiful person Neil Finn is.

  • great song :) cool video

  • it's weird...Paul is in the bathroom as a towel boy..he was out of the band for at least 2 years at this point when they did this video...anyone know the story??

  • fantastic song! it reminds me John Lennon a lot!

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written

  • I look at this as all i can say is, this is a prime example of when music videos were about the music, and to pass along the message that the song was trying to tell.
