honestly I've been a singer all my life since the age of 5. Have done some background work in the studio, but never have I been as enlightened as this video lesson or show. I'm currently taking a class for the first time in Electronic music. As a singer this will help even more how to be clear on what I desire out of a session and understand the process better. This is great.

Dave, Do you have any suggestions on where I should begin learning PT and is there any particular order I should address as far as learning about compressors, EQs recording, room sounds, reverbs .. etc...I am starting out with ... My question is, I know it is important to have the best mics you can afford. However, is there a well rounded mic that can do most jobs? Or if you had to what 2 mike would you have. I have an Audio Technica 4033, I would love to have a U87. You talked about the M149 and a good neve pre. What would be a great mic rig?

For the first five minutes some guys discuss what's going to happen during the video and the upcoming ones. One of them has an iPad.

From there until 13:00 this guy sits there and clicks buttons, calls lots of plugins "amazing" without demonstrating what they actually do.

At 17:00 the mixing guy talks. The iPad is gone. I learned nothing useful.

After that it probably isn't worthwhile. At least you tried.

Davenport might be a good engineer but his public speaking skills are terrible. His delivery is slow and broken which makes it very difficult to engage in anything he's trying to explain. James Bernard is the opposite and thus a great teacher in my opinion

I just love the southern flavor. The one thing that has always amazed me is how southern folks hide their intelligence with their laid back speech. They fumble a lot with their words. George Bush was like this and most people, who dont know people from the south, immediately think a person who talks like this is stupid--but its how all of them talk regardless of how smart. I not saying GWB was a genius but people showed how ignorant they are of southern mens speech patterns.
