  • There is more than one RAM module in my dell inspiron 710m, which is supposed to be located under the keyboard, When I remove the keyboard, I can't find it

  • Thank youuuu

  • @housepetsfan888 Contact Dell for that information

  • I have the same exact laptop, I took out the 2 256mb sticks and put in 2 512 mb sticks but now its not reading the ram I insert in the A dimm slot? Any suggestions?

  • @danny6996 make sure that dell says that it will support those sticks of ram and also make sure that your BIOS is up to date.

  • @lorddarphyve. Both sticks work and per dell.com, the PC can handle 2 1GB sticks. So I guess that leaves the bios, is it a patch from dell or do I go into the bios at startup and manually adjust something?

  • @danny6996 updating the BIOS can be tricky. Check the how to files on Dell's website.

  • a really good idea is to do a static discharge before...or your ram is toast. This little bit of information is lacking in this video.

  • @kindafar ESD is a potential problem wile handling PCB boards but neither I now any of the dozens of people I know that work on computers have ever has an issue with it.

  • Thanks!!!

  • is the RAM location similar to most other laptops? like if i flip the laptop over will there be a little compartment where i have to screw the cover off to replace the RAM :/

    i have a Sony Vaio.

  • @acornhead50 theres a chance that one stick could be under the keyboard, check with your manufactures wed site for a service manual. They should have instructions on where the ram is.

  • What ram do you suggest for a Dell Inspiron 1545? I have 1GB currently, but I want atlasest 3 or 4gbs. Thanks

  • @rohr97 newegg has a 4gb g-skill kit of 2 2gb sticks for $55 I would go with that

  • appricaited tha video..thought i was gonna have to take entire case off and sh*t

  • @cithustla on some laptops you do, if you have the same model then you won't have to.

  • what type of RAM chips should I buy that would be compatible if I have a Dell Inspiron E1705 laptop?

  • @ussprinceton2004 DDR2 800

  • FIRST YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE YOUR LAPTOP IS POWERED OFF...THEN TAKE THE BATTERY PACK OFF THE BACK...OPEN YOUR LAPTOP AGAIN AND PRESS THE POWER BUTTON DOWN ONE MORE TIME THEN REPLACE YOUR MEMORY!

  • @playwendy Agreed, all good things to do. I'll be sure to add those steps in any following videos I post.

  • That is an ugly little bastard uhh :(

  • @Egillboy yup, older laptops were never all that good looking

  • @Protojoe912 You need a specific type of ram depending on what laptop you have. Check with your manufactures website for compatibility lists.

  • hey..your suppose to remove the battery before opening it :\

  • @ShadowSpeedy7 Its a dead laptop anyway.

  • @lorddarphyve meh, even if it's dead you still have a chance of ESD damage, (alot less with it dead then if it were charged) my point being, most ppl who follow this tutorial, may know nothing about the battery and may open it up with the battery still in

  • @ShadowSpeedy7 This is true.

  • do you know where the RAM is located on the inspiron 600m? thanks, and reply soon!

  • @quinnnnman One under the laptop itself and the other under the keyboard, if not both under the keyboard.

  • @lorddarphyve thanks!!! i have a new RAM thingy and i want to put it in. Thanks for your help!!

  • @lorddarphyve your welcome

  • this should be easy... *crack* FUCK

  • @runarboy1 Thanks never good, what happened.

  • @lorddarphyve just a joke :P

  • @chibiMcdreamy Your quite welcome.

  • Thanks dud oh and by the way i have the same laptop as you

  • hi, 1 question, this procedure is the same one with a Dell Vostro A840 and A860 ????

    thank you. 5 stars

    sorry for English, jeje

  • can you make a vid cleaning the fan fixing overheating laptops

  • If i have enough time, sure

  • do need to 2 sets of ram

  • Is that a question or a statement?

  • question

  • No, you don't

  • lol.

  • This was extremely helpful, thank you sir.

  • Your welcome. I'm amazed at the response this video has gotten.

  • what kind of ram should i have for my Dell Inspiron 6000? I'm planning to buy a 2gb ram but my classmate told me that there are different kinds of ram. What is for me? I need help.

  • Every thing you could want to know about your laptop is on dells website. Look under there support tab.

  • lol i had this laptop it burned me and itself completely nice install guide to help

  • It really depends on what you want to do with the laptop. In most cases you can't replace the graphics card. Considering how cheap they have gotten I would recommend just getting a new one. ASUS is one of the best brands out there right now.

  • Thanks bro this is very useful information. I had no clue how to do this procedure until I saw your tutorial. Thanks

  • i have the dell inspiron 1720 1.86Ghz intel core duo in total with 8600m GT. so if i upgrade it to 4gb do u think ill still have trouble gaming with it?

  • Not at all, go for it and have fun :)

  • oh yeah, is RAM and memory the same? sorry i took up to messages lol just thought of it. and thx!

  • Is GT the graphics card?

  • w8 i dont have the same model but close as.

  • If you have a laptop like this one your going to have some real trouble gaming on this machine. If your maxing out your ram wile gaming that will be a problem, but it also wights heavily on what graphics card your running too. Considering a 2gb kit of ram for this laptop and ones like it can now be had on eBay for about $50 I would just start there.

  • hey dude for those (like mine) i thought the max u can get is 1 gb. and what upgrades like graphic cards and stuff do u recamend?

  • i have this laptop it gets laggy as hell during games, not right away but it does happen, anyway if the ram is mostly used and cached could that be why i am having serious slowdown during games?

  • Shouldn't you have removed the battery first?

  • Nope just as long as the computer is turned off your fine.

  • is that all you have to do? I mean like ater you change the ram you don't have to like reprogram or change configuration settings or anything? just turn it on normally?

  • Yup, thats it :)

  • cool, tnx!

  • Welcome :)

  • cool thanks

  • I want to buy a new memory but I don't what exactly I should look for, by the way I have the laptop in the vid xD

  • I think this laptop maxes out at 2gb of ram. I'm not sure though you can check on dell's website for nothing though. Make sure you shop around this type of ram has gotten rather expensive now.

  • Awesome job! Extremely helpful. I thought that would be much harder.

  • Nope, its just that easy. You are most welcome.

  • Hey, thanks for this! I just upgraded my RAM on my Inspiron 6000. I just wasn't sure how to deal with those clips, so this was perfect!

  • You are more welcome :)

  • If there is a little door on the bottom of the laptop that look like the one on the dell that i did then it would be the same. If not there are other tutorials on how to replace ram on all kinds of laptops on the internet. One thing, make sure you get the exact right ram for your laptop. If you get the wrong type (and they can be really close) it may not work. Good luck.

  • i wonder if this would work in most laptops

  • Should, there are other that you have to remove the keyboard to get at the RAM.

  • would the ones that have to take it apart, are they the older ones or newer ones, im buying a 6 year old toshiba pretty soon(its a great computer, except the video card and ram arent the best) so i plan on replacing those, so i wonder if it would be possible,

  • for older laptops

  • Thanks a lot. It helped me much!

  • Welcome :)

  • Very helpful. Thanx alot. It just so happens i have the same exact laptop. YAY!!

  • Glad I could be of service :D

  • THANK YOU!Is this DELL Inspiron laptop 6000?

  • No, its 5100. But there mostly all the same. And your welcome :)

  • thanks mate - your a legend

  • You are most welcome. Lol, legend I am not. I'm just your average geek out to help. :)
